Chapter 282: Chapter 188: Hidden Path Below

After resurrecting, Li Miao stood on the edge of the cliff. He looked at the blood-red single-plank bridge on the other side, then down at the thick fog below, stroking his chin thoughtfully.

His experience as a Prison Player told him that the cave he had seen when the Soul Guide brought him up just now was probably no illusion.

He figured there really was some kind of hidden map or something below this cliff.

However, he had already used Teleportation to go out and look around right after he was resurrected. Other players had mentioned it, but no one knew how to get in yet.

Quite a few players had even jumped off the cliff multiple times, but none of them had found the way in.

So, most people had temporarily set it aside and continued exploring.

Li Miao had been planning to leave as well.

But when he saw the High Platform Audience on the other side, a bold idea suddenly occurred to him.

‘If a normal cliff jump doesn’t get you there, does that mean certain conditions must be met?’

‘Like… flying?’

At this thought, Li Miao couldn’t help but recall an amusing story.

Normally, a punishing open-world combat game like Spirit Candle would most likely not provide any flying Skills.

But some players had discovered that the Burton Mage’s shop actually sold a type of flight-related Magic: the Mithros Sky Spell.

It was even a Scorching Charcoal Tier Magic, which made the Mage players ecstatic. Some even started worrying about game balance.

Although the Burton Mage had warned them that this Magic was useless most of the time and might not be very practical for them, how could a bunch of proud and rebellious players ever listen to advice?

So, after some unlucky soul scrimped and saved to buy the Magic, the result was soul-crushing.

The Spiritual Power consumption for this thing was just too high!

One Mage player tried casting the Spell and got no reaction at all, only to realize their Spiritual Power wasn’t even enough to cover the initial cost of the Magic…

In response, some players asked the NPCs. The Burton Mage and the Candlekeeper’s explanation was rather tactful: “Candle Spirit Warriors are different from ordinary people.”

In other words, their blue bars weren’t big enough.

And when the skeptical Mage players who dumped all their Attributes into their blue bars tried again, they discovered that the Magic’s consumption was massive, using it put them in a Casting state, and they couldn’t even use a Recovery Wax Block…

Still, if you had enough of a blue bar, you could fly for a short distance… roughly equivalent to a double jump. Not bad.

Of course, you had to be careful when the Magic’s Effect wore off, or you could easily fall to your death.

While players were disappointed, they also understood. It was just another case of a pathetically weak, flightless character. Totally normal. They were used to it.

Thus, the Mithros Sky Spell was nicknamed the “Mana Bar Pole Vault” by players.

After this incident, many players naturally came to a consensus: the game Spirit Candle probably wouldn’t ever give players the Ability to fly…

Anyway, while the “Mana Bar Pole Vault” was a bit of a joke, it could still be useful at times.

In a situation like this, Li Miao might have been able to use this Magic while falling to enter that cave.

Of course, he’d have to time it perfectly, which was much harder than trying to land on a moving elevator.

Unfortunately, Li Miao didn’t even have the opportunity to time it.

His Spiritual Value still hadn’t broken ten points.

However, while Li Miao couldn’t fly, there was a mob on the other side that could!

‘If I lure that flying mob over and use it as a parachute, I might get a chance to enter that hidden cave.’

At this thought, Li Miao was tempted.

Although the plan was full of holes, once an idea like this takes root, it’s hard to shake.

“Screw it, I’ll give it a try!”

Li Miao gritted his teeth, rolled up his sleeves, and immediately put his idea into action.

Get on the bridge, aggro the mob, grab its leg—all in one smooth motion.

FLAP! FLAP! FLAP!

The winged High Platform Audience was either mute or just chose not to scream; despite its ferocious appearance, it made no sound.

But its eyes were bloodshot, and it frantically tried to attack the person grabbing its leg.

“Whoa! Whoa! Wuhuuuu—”

Li Miao’s pupils contracted as he let out a startled cry.

Amid the chaos, the man and the monster plummeted downwards.

Li Miao hadn’t taken any damage, but his heart sank.

The High Platform Audience was flapping its wings, but it couldn’t stop their fall!

At most, it slowed them down a little.

‘This idea was a bust after all…’

Just as Li Miao was about to give up and accept his fate, they passed through the thick fog, and he suddenly glimpsed dense, blood-red vines clinging to the cliff face below.

His eyes lit up.

Then, in a split second, he made a choice with lightning-fast reflexes, swinging his entire body’s weight toward the cliff face.

Affected by this shift in weight, the High Platform Audience’s body inevitably tilted.

‘Now’s my chance!’

Without a moment’s hesitation, Li Miao reached out and grabbed viciously at the blood-red vines.

CRUMBLE!

In an instant, a shower of blood-tinged soil rained down, and a large section of vines ripped away under Li Miao’s immense weight.

But the vines farther down grew thicker and denser.

Finally, the vines stopped tearing away, and Li Miao’s downward momentum came to a halt.

“Huff… huff…”

“Holy shit… haa… intense… so fucking intense…”

Li Miao’s pupils gradually returned to normal as he panted heavily, his eyes filled with immense excitement.

‘Spirit Candle is the best,’ he thought. ‘So much more fun than Earth Online.’

After recovering for a moment, Li Miao began to survey his surroundings, but the first thing he noticed was that what he was holding felt… a little off.

Taking a closer look, his just-relaxed pupils instantly contracted again.
