Chapter 73 - I Want To Ask You For A Number
Jiang Wan and her friends had just gone to the shop to buy some items. On their way back to class, people would always stare at them.
At first, Jiang Wan didn't pay much attention to this. Usually, as she walks along a road, she naturally receives a lot of attention. After having received so much attention all the time, she had gotten used to it.
But slowly. she realized something was not right.
The gazes of these people... were a little strange.
It didn't seem like they were infatuated with her, instead, it felt more like they were scrutinizing her.
Jiang Wan felt uncomfortable being stared at like that. She tugged at Ni Man who was beside her and asked, "Man Man, do you feel like something's off?"
"What's wrong, Wan Wan?"
"A lot of people are looking at me..."
"Goodness, Wan Wan. And I thought something was up."
Ni Manman could not help but laugh. "You're the most popular person in the school. You're the School Belle. Isn't it normal to look for people to stare at you?"
"No, no, this doesn't feel the same." Jiang Wan shook her head.
It was difficult for her to explain the feeling in her gut. She simply asked, "Has anything related to me happened in the school recently?"
Ni Manman thought about it carefully. "I haven't heard anything... Wan Wan, aren't you being too sensitive?"
Still, Jiang Wan felt a little uneasy.
Coincidentally, two girls walked over and Jiang Wan vaguely heard them say, "I think Jiang Yu is pretty good-looking too. She's prettier than Jiang Wan."
The other girl turned around and saw Jiang Wan. She quickly stopped her and said, "Keep your voice down."
Then, the two girls quickly scurried away together.
Ni Manman had also heard the words of the two girls and said in a speechless manner, "Wan Wan, do you think those two girls are crazy? They actually think that Jiang Yu is prettier than you? Can that ugly freak even compare to you?"
"Manman, she's my sister. Don't say that."
"If your big brother hadn't brought her back, I would have been suspicious about whether she was really your sister." Ni Manman pursed her lips. "Wan Wan, you're so good-looking. Why doesn't your sister look like you at all? Her looks are so far from yours!"
Jiang Wan said sheepishly, "About that, I'm not sure either..."
"Forget it, let's not talk about her anymore, so as not to affect our mood."
Just as Ni Manman finished speaking, a boy suddenly jogged over.
He called out, "Hello, Jiang Wan."
Jiang Wan replied, "Hello."
She had some recollection of this person. He was from the class next to hers, Special Class Two. He was also the president of some club or another of the school.
Although he wasn't as fetching as Feng Junhao, he was quite good-looking, had a decent family background, and was somewhat famous in the school.
"Jiang Wan, there's something... I'm sorry to bother you..." the boy scratched his head. "I want to ask a favor of you, is that okay?"
Jiang Wan's voice was gentle. "What kind of favor? I will do it if I am able."
The boy said shyly, "Uh... it's actually a very simple favor. I don't know if you'd be willing to do it."
"Please, go ahead."
The boy stared at his toes and mustered up his courage to say, "I want to ask you for a number."
Just as the boy finished his sentence, Ni Manman started heckling him. "Wan Wan, how did you capture the heart of another suitor again? Can you please leave some for us?"
Jiang Wan looked at the boy with large puppy dog eyes and rejected him, "I'm sorry, I can't give you my..."
Before she could finish, the boy seemed shocked and quickly waved his hand, "No, no, Jiang Wan, I don't want your number.. You've misunderstood."
