Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 901 Imperial Assassin Court (2)

  • Next Chapter

Within the Southern Noble Alliance, these noble families, which had been destroyed, had invested and built their territories over hundreds and thousands of years, accumulating wealth that even the Dragons of the Golden Empire coveted.

However, this wealth, after a brief period of being organized and divided, flowed into the Golden Empire without ever passing through the hands of those kings, in the form of orders.

With such an enormous amount of wealth at its command, the citizens within the Golden Empire were inclined toward war. The originally brave Golden People supported the Empire’s conquests like a horde of war criminals.

However, although the Allied Kings Army on the western and eastern fronts were not forces that these nobles could easily resist, the combined strength of the other kingdoms was not on par with the Golden Empire, which also caused them to require more military supplies than the Golden Empire did.

As a result, the speed at which the legions of Beastmen, the Hobis Empire, Dark Elves, and Dark Nest were capturing cities on the eastern and western fronts was much slower than that of the Four Kings Alliance in the middle route.

Meanwhile, the Four Kings Alliance in the middle route was waiting for the progress of the other fronts, allowing soldiers who had been in continuous battle a slightly longer rest so that the legion could exert even more formidable combat strength.

Though the middle route front could continue to break through indefinitely until faced with formidable resistance, the victory of the Northern Kings’ Alliance was now almost steadily progressing.

Karon Gogomola would not allow the entire middle route front to let any of the remaining ten or so desperate Noble Realms of the Southern Noble Alliance find even a single flaw due to some hasty factors.

Think before you act; Karon Gogomola was not skilled in warfare, but he excelled at achieving victory.

The Four Kings Alliance in the middle route would wait here for the two sides to sweep through Modir Duchy and Yaxia Country, then converge here to allocate supplies and integrate strategic objectives.

Furthermore, the Koria Kingdom that the Four Kings Alliance in the middle route faced was not simple. This country, before the rise of the Golden Empire, was the only one with the title of kingdom on the Northern Continent, besides the Hobis Empire.

Currently, the total area of the Koria Kingdom’s territory is not large, not even half the size of Marino Duchy’s domain.

The subjects governed by the Koria Kingdom within the Noble Alliance are not numerous, with only 800,000 subjects in the entire kingdom.

Yet, the Radiant Duchy and Niyaras Duchy, the other two strongest High Duchies of the Southern Noble Alliance, were once part of the Koria Kingdom, belonging to the core territorial range once ruled by the Koria Kingdom.

The circumstances of the Koria Kingdom and the Radiant and Niyaras Duchies were not exceptional; in Karon Gogomola’s words, it was no more than another tale of the ‘Partition of Jin by Three Families’.

However, although the Koria Kingdom was the smallest among the three factions that split, and didn’t have much in terms of land or military personnel, what power has kept it from being annexed by the Radiant and Niyaras Duchies?

Is it the human relations between the nobility, or the geopolitical ties among the noble states?

Karon remained uninformed; the ‘Eye of Dark Crow’ of the Golden Empire, the earliest intelligence network deployed, had not uncovered the deep-seated secrets of this kingdom even after more than ten years of infiltration and distribution.

After all, the intertwined relationships among the nations in Icaria World were too complex, and Shari, the present intelligence chief of the ‘Eye of Dark Crow’, a once unlucky female assassin, had not focused the organization’s efforts on this small kingdom.

Prudence brings no harm, especially in state affairs.

Yet on this typically tranquil day, this secret might be revealed in the presence of the Four Kings.

Across the plain from the camp, a few cold-faced ‘people’ slowly approached. These ‘people’ passed straight through the twisted path of death among the plain hills, without triggering any warnings or stoppages from the Rangers and aerial Flying Dragon sentinels of the Alliance of Kings.

Because they were Giant Dragons of the Golden Empire.

Gray Dragon Naluo and Gray Dragon Naka were leading these ‘people’; as the first members of the Imperial Assassin Court, these two gray dragons, skilled in dark power and concealment assassination techniques, also served as the first Grand Tutors when the court was established.

Despite both gray dragons currently serving punitive service from the Empire, it was because these two dragons bore much of the citizens’ blood during the Dragon Madness Chaos, that the Emperor of the Imperial, Karon Gogomola, personally left indelible marks on their dragon faces.

But after regaining clarity, the two gray dragons had already sworn an oath, with their True Blood as proof, that if they could not walk their own path like the Giant Dragons in the Gogomola Dragon Group, both dragons would forever serve the Golden Empire at no cost.

The Golden Empire Court of Justice operates internally Within the Imperial, while the Assassin Court established during this war, led by the two adult gray dragons, targets external forces, dealing with individuals who obstruct the empire’s interests and objectives.

Gray Dragon Naka and Naluo, along with several black and brown dragons who had potential within the shadows of dark power and preferred to combat via stealthy assassination, crossed over the highway like slugs.

Such marks were trodden by thousands of cavalry, ferocious creatures, monsters, and giants, littered with dark red solid bloodstains.

Many among the grand nobles breached by the Four Kings fled into Koria Kingdom, but more nobles and their led troops were trampled to death on this highway.
