Beneath the Red Dragon
Chapter 894: Three Armies, One Hundred Thousand Strong, Sweeping Seventy Cities of Three Kingdoms (Part 2)
The coalition sent by the nobility is their most powerful maneuver force, but at this moment, it has also become an isolated force stranded in the open.
Even if the noble corps knights now give up the attack, they will die amidst the subsequent division and encirclement by the Eight Kings’ Alliance Army.
Thus, Leia deeply understands that the only option now is to decisively fight hard once.
On the undulating horseback, this Holy Knight can still see the figure standing under the distant royal banner dozens of miles away, just like a unique presence among dragons, the Dragon Emperor’s draconic form is sufficiently distinctive.
Four pairs of fierce dragon horns, his cheeks encased by a face armor formed of fine scales, bone spurs protrude from his elbows like spear tips, massive wings are folded behind him forming dragon bone membranes that can move freely, and his skeleton looks like it has been repeatedly tempered by blood and fire into a crystalline metal.
Leia also knows the terror of this Dragon Emperor. Neither he nor the other southern nobles ever thought they could defeat this Ancestral Red Dragon head-on on the battlefield.
“Just give me a sliver of a chance, favor me, I whom honor the God of Justice of the knights, I only need that one opportunity, to sever the dragon’s royal banner, break through the dragon’s legion, charge into the civilian labor camp, maybe this is the last chance!”
Leia silently prayed, then began to raise his once most trusted companion—the Sword of Knightly Justice—in the final miles.
The heavy sword shone with the Holy Knight’s brilliance!
“We are knights of justice, we are unyielding eagles, pick up your weapons, and break through the obstacles ahead with me!”
The emblem of the Rose Duchy gleamed brightly on his breastplate, the immense strength surged through the Holy Knight’s body, flowing throughout him.
The glow of the Seed of Power burst forth from the Holy Knight’s armor and longsword like lifting a sword blazing into flames.
These courageous knights raised their weapons, letting out low roars that stirred the hearts of their comrades, weapon after weapon bursting with light, armor after armor lighting up in succession, as if engulfed in light charging towards the dark unmoving shroud ahead.
The short miles, from the horses warming up then accelerating within a kilometer’s distance, took only a moment, but in this brief time, not a single knight feared the charge of death.
Many people act knowing it’s impossible, that’s how miracles can be created.
Unfortunately, those who create miracles are the survivors, not the vast majority!
“A man with guts!” Gilenis carried his Dragon Horn Heavy Hammer, calmly stepping through the legion’s array, coldly watching the forward pounding hoofbeats and clashing metal like tide and thunder.
“Legion in formation, collectively turn left, heavy shields forward!” he quietly commanded all the warriors.
Just like precise and intricate machinery turning, all the Heavy Shield Long Spear Warriors turned collectively, stepping forward amidst the clash of steel armor.
The gigantic beast hide heavy shields as tall as a person deeply planted into the plain’s ground at the right distance to meet the opposing legion’s charge, slanting to form an insurmountable shield wall on the ground.
The thick sharp long spears thrust out from the gaps between shield walls, propped up at an angle with the earth as a fulcrum and the warriors’ arms and waists as control points, forming a deathly gleaming thicket of thorns.
And amid the separation of legion formation, Biological Alchemy Wolf Beasts stepped agilely from behind, sitting all at once within the legion lineup’s gaps.
The Golden Empire’s Golem Legion was dispatched entirely as cannon fodder and cover formations to capture the Marino Defense Line, but a batch of Biological Alchemy Corps was not deployed.
Created with Biological Alchemy Technology, these legions are agile, best suited for unleashing power amidst urban street battles, and secondly as auxiliary long-range attack legions on flat ground.
Using these Biological Alchemy Legions for capturing the outskirts of Dorabi City would simply be a waste.
But at this time, these Biological Alchemy Corps can also display their power and might.
Densely packed Wolf Beasts squatted down, the Fire God Cannon barrels mounted on their backs slightly raised, three inches above their backs, aiming at the front.
What the Golden Empire’s casters can achieve, other casters actually cannot achieve.
But in the Icaria World, the powerful casters have a different mindset than the Golden Empire. They delve into powerful spells, more convenient casting techniques, and their own unique original magic.
While the Golden Empire’s thinking leads magic’s civilization technology towards Magic Industrialization, it emphasizes standardized, large-scale application.
Anything normatively producible under industrialization’s support is terrifying beyond compare. The most frightening aspect of industrialization is not other advantages, but that unmatched productivity.
The reason those casters cannot achieve this is not just a different mind, but also the necessity for knowledge monopolization.
Aside from these Biological Alchemy Corps, Elf Magic Archers and Sword Dancer Corps were in position at the back of the legion’s formation under the command of the Golden Empire’s generals.
The Golden Empire, as the leader and executor of the Alliance of Kings, has the nominal and recognized power by the Kings to temporarily command and mobilize other alliance armies to cooperate with the Golden Empire Legion.
In orderly dispatching, battle awoke in silent agitation.
The drumroll of hooves thundered, noble corps knights completely abandoned defending their flanking sides, adopting a collective charging attack posture against the enclosing Death Knights.
Those noble knights rode with the plain’s wild gusts, having advantageous wind directions, their running speed rose again, swift momentum inspired indomitable courage and unstoppably resolute determination.
Thus javelins and short crossbows rained down on the Golden Empire’s battle line, the immense force capable of piercing through the Golden Empire’s Heavy Shield Corps’ shields, embedding deeply.
But fiercer than the javelins and crossbow bolts were the artillery fire erupted from the Golden Empire and the arrows shot by the Elf Magic Archers.
As a weapon using high-energy propellant, the Fire God Cannon’s attack power and range cannot rival the Magic-guided Cannon.
But on such a crowded battlefield, the Fire God Cannon’s exploding fragments and high-energy propellant’s shockwave have a more widespread influence than the Magic-guided Heavy Cannon’s power.
Burning shells flew out from the six-barrel Fire God Cannon, hitting straight in the air towards knights charging the Imperial Legion.
The shells landed on those knights, the splashed flames and fragments tearing many knight’s leather armor and armor to shreds.
And more knights were thrown off by horses, the shockwave blew off these unprotected warhorses’ four hooves, wailing as they fell onto the battlefield, then trampled to a bloody pulp by heavy armor knights behind them.
Still, more knights had no time to respond, tripped by the knights and horses fallen in front, causing a chain reaction.
If it was an ordinary legion, under such devastating bombardment, they would certainly lose momentum.
But these knights became more fierce, barreling towards the Heavy Shield Legion within the intense artillery fire and arrows.
The clash between both sides instantly reached a fever pitch, countless frontline knights were directly skewered by the Heavy Shield Legion’s long spears.
The spears easily pierced the Noble Knights’ thick armor during such intense collision, tearing muscle, breaking bones, spraying flesh and blood.
The Elf Sword Dancer Corps collectively brandished their sharp long blades, hundreds of sharp blades rose in unison from below to above slashing diagonally, drawing phantom-like arcs amidst billowing dust.
The magic sword qi ripples exploded visibly on the blades, sharp qi blades advanced forward, transforming into unstoppable force, cleaving through dust and armor, ripping into knights’ warhorses and flesh.
Those noble knights leaping high over the skewered knights’ corpses hadn’t time to defend, instantly torn apart with both rider and horse by the Elf Sword Dancer Corps.
“We are the Death Knights born of blood and fire,” Centaur Chiron roared to the sky, “The Emperor’s royal banner is right there, He will watch us annihilate all rebellious enemies!”
Rumbling louder than an ocean bowl, horse hooves trampled the earth, kicking up clouds of dust.
The Imperial Cavalry Legion flanking on both sides of the battlefield began their assault!
