Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 794 - 132: Gray Dwarf Durzagon

Specks of light like torches, the dark sea seems to sleep quietly in the night.

The masts of the moored ships in the harbor and the crescent-like Moonlight hanging on the corner eaves cast a hazy glow as the hulls gently sway, breaking the night, and the light and darkness divide the realms at the harbor’s edge.

Yet even in the dark night, the Sea of Fury still has specks of fishermen’s fires drifting like the only warmth in the darkness, standing out in the harbor.

One by one, boats laden with catches dock on one side of the harbor, with a few wholesalers in the fish market bargaining with individual suppliers, picking out some particularly precious species of fish.

The fishermen on these boats are not those who go fishing during the day but are some particularly brave and hardworking night fishers.

On the sea, dangers abound, especially for those ordinary folks.

A slightly larger storm can capsize the boats of ordinary people, destroying ships and costing lives. Not to mention the possible accidental encounters with sea monsters and ferocious species in the sea.

But the world is never short of creatures fighting for their families and future. They fear danger, they fear hardship, and they fear death.

However, in their ordinary and fragile lives, there is always something that grants them unparalleled courage and perseverance, allowing them to stand firmly amidst storms, bearing immense burdens on their shoulders.

Perhaps in other noble territories, these night fishers would worry about their labor’s harvest being exploited by the nobility.

There is no animal or beast in the world that needs to spend much of its time daily hunting for food to survive, even in the Land of Frost in the Extreme North, such beasts cannot be found.

Yet many subjects in noble territories live even worse off than a stray dog on the prairie.

But in this cold sea harbor at night, these night fishers are all smiling, filled with satisfaction from their harvest.

Because in the Golden Empire, hard work truly can lead to prosperity!

The night fishers use their diligence, specializing in catching fish species that only appear actively at night in the sea.

These fish species often do not conform to normal seasonal activity patterns, leading to a supply shortage in the empire’s aquatic product market, so each night fisher, while bearing far greater risks than their regular peers, can obtain more substantial rewards.

However, even the nighttime trading market has two Naga trainee tax officials patrolling back and forth in the temporary market by the sea.

Under the will of the Giant Dragons, the Nagas began trying to integrate into the empire’s diverse racial system from a special perspective. These Naga trainee tax officials in the seaside town are just the first step of the Naga’s attempts.

At the suggestion of the Naga Queen, the Golden Empire’s Central Council began considering plans to clear the entire Northern Continent’s underwater passageways.

The former Queen of the Northern Sea Boggarts, the ancestor of Ogre Giantess Fafnir, the Ancient Demigod Three-Headed Sea Monster Dikalytes, once ruled the northern seas for countless years.

Under its command, the Undersea Legion established an interwoven network of sea tunnels beneath most regions of the Northern Continent. This was the capital that the Northern Sea Witch Dikalytes once relied on to challenge the ruling world’s Giant Dragon Corps.

Through the deep underwater passages, the Northern Sea Witch’s corps could appear near their desired attack targets at any time and launch unexpected strikes.

The Eternal Tide Tribe’s Nagas occupy the sea vortex known as the Eye of Water, one of the outposts left behind by Ancient Demigod Sea Demons, and it’s a node in the underwater tunnel network.

Through these passageway nodes of large vortices, one can go to other tunnels.

Although it is not as fast as Teleportation Magic, aided by ocean currents, the Undersea Legion’s transport maneuvering speed rivals that of the Flying Dragon Corps galloping through the sky.

Moreover, unlike the large fixed Teleportation Magic Gates that require a massive amount of resources, these underwater networks are a relatively mature product.

However, due to the passing of the Ancient Demigod Sea Demon, it has been countless years.

The underwater networks are also mostly in disrepair, with the majority suffering from blockages and decay.

The Nagas also need to carry out this work of great duration only after the Imperial think tank considers and formulates plans, leading to a gradual increase in trading ships of Goblin Merchant Groups from the Central Continent traveling to and from the Golden Empire.

Most of them are military trade orders, including the biggest batch being Goblin Magical Energy Submarines produced by Goblin Merchant Groups.

The empire’s research department put the first batch of Goblin Magical Energy Submarines into underwater operations, then tried to replicate and improve upon the Goblin Submarine’s construction principles to develop the empire’s own underwater war machines.

Due to the long-term cooperative relationship between Giant Dragon Merchant Group’s head Goblin Shanshan and the Central Continent’s Goblin Merchant Group, the empire also became the investment trade target for many merchant groups from the Central Continent.

Thus, occasionally in the nighttime seaside market, you can see some merchant group heads and representatives of noble forces from the Central Continent.

But those merchants and nobles come to the Golden Empire not only for a simple resource trade cooperation relationship but also because of the already mature cultural entertainment industry chain in the Golden Empire.

The empire has firmly held sway over the Northern Territory wilderness for more than ten years, with commercial activities flourishing, followed by the emergence of a thriving cultural entertainment industry.

In the empire’s Gladiatorial Arenas, the crown for a thousand victories remains hanging from the dome, forever unclaimed by anyone.
