Becoming a Saint by Touching Corpses
Chapter 886 - 719: Drifting Through the Void
Darkness, boundless extreme darkness.
Cold, bone-chilling cold.
Silence, an eerie silence where even breathing can’t be heard most of the time.
’Hiss!’
’Whoo!’
’Swoosh!’
’Whew!’
Only occasionally bizarre or sharp unidentified sounds echo, affirming the existence of this void is real, not an illusion.
At a certain moment, three objects emitting different glows, in black-red, blue, and pale silver colors, slowly drifted through the void.
The light was actually weak, but in the extremely dark space, it was quite conspicuous.
This seemed to be the only bit of light in the dark space.
Faintly, sounds of discord emerged from these three clusters of light:
"If it weren’t for you, would we have fallen into such a predicament? I will tear you into pieces; only that would ease the hatred in my heart!"
"You can’t easily kill me; why not save some energy to find a way out."
"Kid, don’t be too arrogant, I might as well lose a life to die together with you!"
"Stop arguing; it’s better to spend time divining a way out, and observing the surroundings.
If we can’t find the space node, we’ll die without needing to perish together..."
Saying this, the voices from the three clusters of light fell silent again.
The black-red cluster of light naturally belonged to Lou Yi himself.
The other two were the Unicorn Ant Great Demon Anran and the True Master Zhao Laoyu of the Taiyi Sect, both caught in a spatial rift.
The three of them, at the beginning, wouldn’t naturally coexist peacefully, encountering fierce combat just upon entering the dark space.
However, all were half-disabled, none could overpower the others.
Moreover, external threats were paramount; self-preservation was urgent, forcing them to cease fire.
At this point, whether wrapping their bodies in magic, covering skin with demonic power, or assisting with Gang Qi, they maximized their defenses.
Nothing else, the environment in the dark space was too harsh.
Like void Yin Wind equaling the power of magic cast by a Golden Core, it swept over almost silently, with a temperature many times colder than eternal ice.
Lou Yi experimented, purely resisting the shade wind’s assault with his Golden Body.
Only after a stick of incense burning time, he felt his entire body stiffen, his brain about to freeze numb.
He absorbed 90% damage with his Talent of Tenacity, only then feeling much better.
Also, fully covering himself with Gang Qi to counteract, the attack from Yin Wind could be minimized to a negligible level.
Like Lou Yi, the Great Demon Anran and True Master Zhao Laoyu exerted all efforts to fend off the harm of the void Yin Wind.
Of course, doing so exhausts a great deal of cultivation.
This dark space has no Spiritual Qi whatsoever, no food supplies, relying solely on one’s cultivation and elixir supplements; each use permanently lessens.
The point when supplies exhaust is the day all three will perish.
Lou Yi had a slight advantage over the True Master Zhao Laoyu and Great Demon Anran; he still had tens of thousands of points of energy to replenish.
Yet, these energies deplete with use, cannot regenerate, and a contingency plan must be considered in advance.
Inside the dark space, apart from the most frequent void Yin Wind, occasionally, death rays with pale gray hues appear.
Death rays, like volleys of thousands of arrows, completely envelop Lou Yi and the others, almost impossible to dodge.
Every death ray seems released by a True Master Yinxing, not only corroding flesh but causing unbearable pain to the Divine Soul.
There was also a kind of red rain, crimson as blood, that fell every few days, which Lou Yi dubbed as Blood Rain.
This Blood Rain doesn’t inflict much damage when falling upon them but causes unbearable itching.
Moreover, all five senses, including intuition, would be greatly weakened in the following days, akin to a blind man wandering through a market, utterly lost.
Though trapped in dire straits, Lou Yi and the others diligently seek an escape.
If the five senses get disrupted, they might easily miss the genuine space node, wasting days in vain.
Apart from void Yin Wind, death rays, and blood rain.
There are also white cold flames capable of burning anything, terrifying even for Third Realm experts, morphing erratically in the air like living beings.
There are mysterious particles a hundred times smaller than dust, capable of penetrating bodies, devouring Qi-Blood, absorbing life’s essence, and eradicating them requires hefty costs...
The void turbulence they’ve fallen into is fraught with danger everywhere and can manifest deadly crises at any time.
The only consolation is that drifting in the void turbulence doesn’t heavily deplete physical strength.
Here is nearly zero-gravity; with a bit of external force, you can move far.
Despite this, the three have aimlessly drifted for a long time without any gain.
"Dammit, old woman, is what you said true?
Is there really a space node to the Main World or Celestial Abyss in the void turbulence!" The Great Demon Anran, losing patience, eyes bloodshot, shouted at True Master Zhao Laoyu.
After so many days, likely months passed, its demonic power had more than halved, yet still no sign of hope.
Hearing Anran’s disrespectful words, True Master Zhao Laoyu’s face darkened.
"Beast is a beast, not a bit of patience." she sneered.
"Damn it, I’ll skin you alive!" Anran, enraged, was about to rush up to fight True Master Zhao Laoyu.
"Wait a minute, look, what’s that?" Lou Yi saw, thousands of feet ahead, a black object suddenly floating over, and exclaimed in surprise.
The black object is only twice the size of a watermelon, resembling an irregularly shaped stone.
Placed outside, it would seem mundane and unnoticed by anyone.
But in the dark space, it’s the first time Lou Yi has seen an object of such size.
Upon seeing the ’stone,’ Master Zhao’s eyes gleamed brightly.
"Able to withstand the endless erosion of chaotic void currents, this object is definitely extraordinary.
It’s highly possible that it’s a real continent, compressed into something like a Sumeru mustard seed."
"We should quickly check it out; there might be food!" Great Demon Anran was equally delighted, the newly grown tentacles on its head swaying everywhere.
"Has life appeared?" Lou Yi nodded repeatedly.
However, the three of them stood rooted to their spot, unwilling to move forward and investigate.
They weren’t foolish.
In the dark space, nothing is ever simple.
The black stone might be a compressed continent, but it could also be an extremely dangerous creature that could easily devour intruders.
Moreover, even if it is a continent, it’s different from the outside world; who knows what bizarre things might reside within.
"Kid, go take a look." Anran chuckled, its crimson eyes fixed on Lou Yi, ready to call him to pave the way, as cannon fodder.
Master Zhao stood together with Anran, her gaze cold and emotionless.
"Call me father, and I’ll go." Lou Yi responded earnestly.
Listening to this, Great Demon Anran was furious, ready to fight Lou Yi.
"If you want to fight, then fight!" Lou Yi was firm, his body glowing with a radiant Qi-Blood red light, shining like a small sun in the dark space, showing no hint of fear.
"Forget it, let’s not fight among ourselves. I still have a Spirit Pet here." Master Zhao backed down first, persuading Anran to focus on the bigger picture.
From her sleeve flew out a creature the size of a calf, grey in color, with a dog’s head, wings, resembling a bat.
The grey bat flapped its wings, swiftly approaching the black stone.
Amazingly, as it got closer, its body rapidly shrank.
Landing on the stone, it was barely larger than a mosquito.
Moments later, the grey bat flew out again, its body gradually enlarging, returning to normal size in an instant, landing on Master Zhao’s shoulder.
"There’s no danger on it, but also none of what we’re looking for." Master Zhao’s face wasn’t pleasant, as she flew towards the black stone first.
Lou Yi and Anran followed closely behind, and as they approached the stone, their bodies continued to shrink.
Landing on the stone.
Lou Yi was astonished to find that in his current view, the vast dark red land before him stretched at least several hundred miles wide.
The terrain was partly flat, partly sunken like a basin, partly undulating like hilly areas.
However, it was extremely dry, with not a trace of moisture detectable in the air.
Where there’s no moisture, it is unlikely for organisms to survive.
Sure enough, after searching for half a day, all they found was soil and stone, not a single blade of grass, utterly lifeless.
"Let’s go; this place is a dead land." Master Zhao said somewhat helplessly.
While she and Anran were exploring, Lou Yi had dug up quite a bit of soil and stone.
Grasping them together in his hand, they visibly shrank at a rapid pace.
"It can be devoured, but the energy provided is weak, barely balanced with consumption, better store some for now." Lou Yi thought somewhat helplessly.
He looked at the Attribute Panel, where new alerts constantly popped up.
This alert appeared after the Demon God’s avatar died and had been following him for at least a few months.
But now, he didn’t have time to pay attention because he needed to conserve energy.
For some time afterward, the two humans and one demon still drifted in the chaotic void currents.
Every day, they encountered various dangers, depleting their magical powers, demonic power, and energy, even reaching a highly dangerous critical point.
At this point, they couldn’t even bother speaking, aiming to save every bit of Primordial Qi.
Along the way, they encountered two more compressed continents, about the same size as before, a bit larger than watermelons.
Unfortunately, none of these continents had any life, making them uninhabitable.
One continent had particularly heavy gravity, crushing Master Zhao’s bat Spirit Pet into a pancake, which ended up in Anran’s stomach.
After swallowing the bat’s corpse, Anran’s gaze toward Lou Yi and Master Zhao was full of ferocity, its beastly nature exposed.
"What are you trying to do?" Master Zhao’s eyes were icy, making Anran suddenly regain its clarity.
Although Lou Yi’s Attribute Panel still had plenty of energy, he secretly guarded against the two, fearing they might be putting on an act to drag him down.
Of course, his biggest trump card was the talent for duplication.
As long as consciousness exists, it can be transferred no matter how far.
Except, only when absolutely necessary would Lou Yi give up this powerful body near the Third Realm.
After an unknown amount of time, Great Demon Anran and Master Zhao’s eyes grew somewhat confused, with their bodies’ glow extremely dim, flickering, on the verge of disappearing.
At this moment, a massive blue stone, as large as a small mountain, suddenly appeared in front of them!
"So large, there must be living creatures here!" Master Zhao exclaimed in delight, her voice sharp, piercing in the silent world.
"Damn it, I’m fed up!" This time, Anran was too impatient to let Master Zhao send other Spirit Pets to explore, hurriedly rushing towards the blue stone.
It had already gone crazy and its body was almost at its limit!
Behind, Lou Yi and Master Zhao couldn’t hold back either, closely following.
