Chapter 43: Chapter 41: A Real Enemy Attack

Furen and the others were eager for a fight, so they immediately raised their weapons and charged, clashing with the Kobolds in a fierce battle.

Only Mirana glanced worriedly in the direction of the forest.

But after just a moment, she focused her attention back on the battle.

’What’s happened can’t be changed. You can only fight for what you have now.’

Besides, even if there were fewer Kobolds than expected, it didn’t mean they could win easily.

The woman named Bai Ya had no fighting ability, and they had an injured companion on their side as well.

Four against ten, they were outnumbered. They had to take some of the enemy down early in the fight.

"Use your Combat Skills!!"

Dashing to Furen’s side, Mirana shouted, then swung her Sword in a flash, forcefully parrying a Kobold’s downward slash.

This Kobold had been Furen’s opponent. He’d been wanting to use Jump Slash to finish it off, but its frenzied attacks never gave him an opening.

After all, Jump Slash—as the name implies—required him to jump first before he could use the momentum of his descent to deliver a powerful blow.

And he simply had no chance to jump.

But now that Mirana had blocked the frontal assault for him, things were different.

"Go!! Die!!!"

Stunned for only an instant, Furen immediately understood. With a roar, he leaped high into the air and brought his Sword down on the Kobold’s chest.

"SQUELCH!"

After a dull tearing sound, the Kobold was instantly disemboweled, dying a gruesome death on the spot.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Mirana and Furen immediately rushed to the other side to help the rest of their group.

Taking out a single Kobold wasn’t enough to turn the tide of battle. This fight was destined to last a while longer.

Amid the flickering firelight and hoarse shouts, everyone fought with all their might.

Only Bai Ya was curled up behind a large rock, her body trembling violently with Fear.

Watching the battlefield not far away, she clamped both hands over her mouth to keep from screaming. Tears streamed silently down her face, and with every clash of weapons, her shoulders would flinch violently.

"Stay hidden, and don’t get in our way."

That was Mirana’s order to her.

Bai Ya knew it was the right thing to do, so she had been hiding here ever since the battle began.

But her companions were fighting for their lives right before her eyes, while she could only watch helplessly... The feeling filled her with immense guilt.

Fortunately, this agonizing process didn’t last long.

Although Kobolds possessed far more Power than goblins, had scales on their skin, and used weapons, they were ultimately still Low Level monsters.

Combined with their smaller-than-expected numbers and Mirana’s leadership, the outcome of the battle was decided in about ten minutes.

Finally, with a cry of "For the glory of the Dwarves!", the Dwarf smashed the last Kobold’s spine with his hammer, bringing the battle to an end.

In almost the same instant, everyone except Furen and Mirana collapsed to the ground in exhaustion, gasping for air.

This was probably the most dangerous battle they had ever experienced.

The bonfire continued to crackle, and the clearing was filled with the thick, nauseating stench of blood.

A brief, dead silence fell over everything. Extreme exhaustion made it so that no one even wanted to move.

But just then, a voice suddenly rang out.

"Everyone on your feet."

"..."

The sound of heavy, ragged breathing suddenly stopped. Whether sitting or lying down, everyone turned to stare blankly at Mirana, their faces filled with confusion.

She simply wiped the blood from her face, then turned and started walking toward the forest.

"Hurry up. We’re going to save him."
