Chapter 110: Chapter 108: Killing

"Bastards!!!"

"Let me go!! I’ll kill you!!!"

When Furen realized what had happened, he was overcome with a rage he had never felt before.

And for the son of a nobleman, taught from a young age to "always maintain his composure and calm," rage meant he had lost all reason.

His eyes were bloodshot. He roared as he frantically tore at the surrounding net, trying to rip apart the wrist-thick ropes.

But it was all in vain. His struggles only earned him louder taunts from his enemies and had no other effect.

"Hahahaha, watching these little brats lose their minds never gets old!"

The man in Leather Armor laughed endlessly, making no effort to hide his arrogance.

Another man beside him wore a similar expression, his eyes fixed on the Longsword in Furen’s hands, his greed so intense it was almost tangible.

THUD! THUD! THUD!

Following the heavy thuds, three figures leaped down from the dense canopy. The one in the lead was a man with a scar on his face.

"Here, catch."

Scarface casually tossed two sharp One-handed Swords to the other two men and asked, "Only two of them?"

"There were four. The other two didn’t follow."

The man in Leather Armor licked his teeth sinisterly. "We got real lucky this time. We’ll make at least 20 gold coins."

"Hm?"

Scarface paused. "Are you sure?"

"At least that much, if not more. I saw their Equipment and Weapons. They’re top-notch."

The man in Leather Armor lowered his voice. "Especially that black Sword. It’s definitely High Level Equipment."

"Good! Dammit! This one score will set us up for half a year!"

Scarface grinned, revealing yellowed teeth. "Then let’s slaughter these two first and take our time dealing with the other two!"

The man in Leather Armor reminded him, "Boss, they both know Combat Skills. Be careful."

"Hmph. So what if they know Combat Skills? They have to be able to stand up first."

Scarface snorted with disdain, but his next actions weren’t nearly as arrogant as his words.

Not all priests in a church are good people, and not all murderous bandits are brainless.

In fact, they were often far more cautious than Ordinary Adventurers.

After all, the careless ones had already been sent to the chopping block.

So, upon hearing that Furen and Bai Ya both knew Combat Skills, Scarface immediately abandoned the idea of getting close.

Although Furen and Bai Ya just looked like they were throwing a helpless tantrum, there were countless types of Combat Skills. If they had some strange Skill, he could easily get tripped up by something unexpected.

Besides, he wasn’t some psychopathic killer who savored the process. Using a Crossbow was the safest approach.

CLICK—

The faint click of the Crossbow Mechanism locking into place was exceptionally clear amidst the rain. A steel Crossbow Arrow was set in the groove, the string drawn taut. Scarface’s index finger rested steadily on the trigger.

"You bastards! You’ll all go to Hell!!!"

Seven or eight meters away, Furen was still roaring. He ignored the restraints of the net and struggled to take a step forward, shielding Bai Ya with his body.

Normally, if this were a novel or a movie, Scarface would definitely trade a few more lines of trash talk with him.

A more pretentious line might be, "This world is Hell itself."

A more arrogant one could be, "Maybe so, but you won’t be around to see it."

Or even something philosophical, like, "Who is it that defines heaven and Hell?"

In short, it would feel like something was missing if he didn’t say anything.

But Scarface probably didn’t have such a rich stock of lines, or perhaps he just couldn’t be bothered to waste words on his prey. In response to Furen’s curse, he said nothing, only offering a sinister grin as he aimed the Crossbow’s sights steadily at his target’s chest.

BANG!

He pulled the trigger. The taut string snapped loose, and the Crossbow Arrow pierced the rain-filled air.

Then, to everyone’s astonishment, it plunged straight into the mud just in front of him.

...

...

THUMP!

"Argh—!"

"Wh-What’s happening?!"

"Who’s there?!"

As the five men screamed and collapsed to the ground, the Longsword in Furen’s hand slowly lowered. He stared at the scene before him, wide-eyed and in disbelief, his mind a complete blank.

Lu Wei, however, had no time to worry about him. He was ending this fight as quickly as possible.

He had already used 6 points of Magic Power following them in Stealth, and now, to be safe, he had directly activated a 5x Force Field. He had to hurry.

After all, he needed to keep about half of his Magic Power in reserve for any other unexpected situations that might arise.

’Sigh. Looking at it this way, I seem to be relying a bit too much on my Skills.’

’Especially Force Field. Ever since that satisfying goblin slaughter, it’s become a habit. No matter the situation, my first instinct is to just activate a Force Field.’

’I wonder if that’s a bad thing?’

’Maybe I should learn some pure melee techniques like Jump Slash that don’t need Magic Power, only stamina?’

’But it feels so damn good to use one Skill for Hard Control over the whole field and then just mow everyone down.’

’Besides, if I’m going to think that way, then what’s the point of being a Mage?’

’Mmm... right. There’s no need to create problems for myself!’

’So what if my Skills are overpowered! A powerful Weapon makes me powerful!’

’If you’ve got a problem with it, go get one yourself!’

This sudden little "reflection" didn’t bother Lu Wei for long. Darting out from his hiding place, he reached the nearest man in just a few steps.

As luck would have it, it was the man in the Leather Armor.

The man was writhing in agony on the ground, desperately trying to lift his head. The veins on his neck bulged, his eyes were bloodshot, and his face was a mask of terror and Fear.

Raising Confession, Lu Wei didn’t hesitate for a second, plunging his Sword through the "poor father’s" back and into his heart.

PSHH—!

Under the pressure of 5x gravity, blood shot from the wound like a fountain, splashing onto Lu Wei’s Cloak before being quickly washed away by the heavy rain, leaving behind a pale red stain.

Although he had killed over thirty demi-human monsters in the past half-month, "demi-humans" and "humans" were clearly not the same.

But surprisingly, Lu Wei felt no psychological burden from killing one of his own kind for the first time.

Perhaps it was because the man at his feet was just so "deserving of death" that it erased any guilt he might have felt.

He even feared the man wasn’t dead enough, so he quickly stabbed the corpse again for good measure.

He then turned and, like a grim reaper emerging from the rain, walked toward the next man.

PSHH!

PSHH!

PSHH!

The Sword’s edge cut through the rain, quickly ending three more lives.

It turned out that when they were completely unable to fight back, humans weren’t much different from goblins.

Humans could wear Armor, but against Confession, which was coated in a layer of Saracenic Steel, this low-grade armor was no different from a layer of hard cardboard. It only served to make Lu Wei "use a little more force."

In less than half a minute, four corpses lay sprawled in the mud.

Last was Scarface.

His Crossbow had been thrown far away. He lay face down on the ground, seemingly crushed to death by the overwhelming pressure.

But Lu Wei had a good habit of always delivering a finishing blow, so he raised Confession, ready to strike again.

Unexpectedly, in the very next second, Scarface sprang up like a coiled spring as a flash of silver light shot toward Lu Wei’s neck!

’Holy shit!!’

Lu Wei’s eyes flew open, and he dodged back purely on instinct.

RIP—!

The Dagger tore through his Cloak, ripping a long gash through his outer robe and Leather Armor as well.

The sudden attack caught Lu Wei completely off guard. He never imagined Scarface could launch such a swift sneak attack under the effect of a 5x Force Field.

This went beyond the limits of Survival Instinct!

He had no time to think or check the wound on his chest. After the first dodge, he immediately retreated again, putting as much distance as possible between himself and Scarface.

Immediately after, the lightning-fast reflexes granted by his 18 points in Perception allowed him to make the most accurate choice almost instantly.

’Cleanse the darkness with the Light of Justice. Great God of Justice, please grant me...’

He quickly recited the prayer to channel his Divine Power. In less than half a second, a ball of golden light began to form in his left hand.

However, just as the Light-guided Arrow was about to fully materialize, Scarface, who was lunging forward again, suddenly widened his eyes.

His body went rigid, and he looked down in disbelief.

The tip of a Narrow Sword protruded from his chest, having been stabbed through his back. Blood gushed from the wound, only to be diluted by the rain.

THUMP...

Scarface’s burly body swayed and then collapsed to the ground, as if a wall blocking the view had just been removed.

Bai Ya stood in the rain, her long hair disheveled and her body covered in mud.

Her body trembled uncontrollably, her hands gripping the sword hilt so tightly that she was still frozen in a thrusting posture.

Motionless.
