Chapter 1091: Chapter 448: The True Wenquxing (Part 3)
His luck wasn’t great to begin with, and he wasn’t skilled in these luck-based trials. The Favor of the Goddess of Fortune had already been used when choosing an Immortal Mansion, could it be that this time he would stumble in the gutter?
The information mentioned that if one feels indecisive when picking a fork in the path, it indicates insufficient Destiny.
However, after entering the forest, he didn’t know if it was the highest level of blessings from his Immortal Mansion taking effect, or if his persistent 25 points of Destiny were working.
His intuition was almost without hesitation, and he easily walked out of summer, approaching the area belonging to autumn.
Did he just walk out like that?
This is it?
Noticing how low the luck requirements were, Wu Chang instantly understood the well-meant intentions of the Immortal Mansion Master. Anyone without this level of Destiny wouldn’t achieve big things anyway, so they must be harshly filtered out.
Duan Rui, being able to become a Grandmaster at such a young age, and without falling behind in Cultivation and knowledge, was proof enough that he is a favored one of heaven, and his Destiny wouldn’t be lacking.
Indeed, this time Wu Chang waited for Duan Rui for a much shorter time than during the second trial.
Seeing Wu Chang come out before him, Duan Rui thought to himself that if Wu Chang could face the fourth challenge, maybe he could actually complete the exploration of Megrez Immortal Mansion.
While changing his view of Wu Chang, Duan Rui couldn’t help but recall Wu Chang’s quantum speed-reading method by the lakeside.
That way of reading seemed absurd, but maybe it’s truly effective.
If Wu Chang could complete the fourth challenge, he would surely try it when he gets out!
Having passed through summer, arriving by the lakeside belonging to autumn, near Megrez Lake stood a pavilion going deep into the lake, named the Pavilion of Erudition.
The pavilion in front was the fourth challenge that troubled countless cultivators, and was reputed to be the hardest challenge among all Immortal Mansions, the Erudition Challenge.
The pavilion was ten stories high, and it gathered all the knowledge under heaven. Upon entering each layer, participants randomly received ten questions, answering eight or more correctly allowed advancement to the next layer.
Completing all ten layers indicated passing the challenge.
Since the discovery of Megrez Immortal Mansion, fewer than ten cultivators have completed this challenge.
Many of the questions in the pavilion were short answer questions. Regardless of how high one’s Cultivation or Destiny was, facing this challenge would leave them dumbfounded.
It’s because of this challenge that Lü Changgeng told Wu Chang that if he couldn’t complete the exploration, he could switch to another Immortal Mansion.
Looking at the Pavilion of Erudition before him, Duan Rui showed a look of tension. During his exploration of Megrez Immortal Mansion, he was stuck at this challenge.
Even though he possessed photographic memory, he would always encounter tricky questions that were hard to answer, and his highest record was only the Eighth Layer; he hadn’t even seen the Ninth Layer.
He took a deep breath to adjust his mindset, just preparing to tell Wu Chang some test insights, but found Wu Chang had already pushed the Pavilion of Erudition’s door open, striding in confidently.
Seeing this, he could only follow.
Entering the first layer, the Spiritual Qi inside the pavilion condensed into words, forming ten questions before him.
Each participant encountered different random questions, and once inside the Pavilion of Erudition, cultivators couldn’t converse or communicate using sign language or other signals.
He couldn’t advise Wu Chang, and had to focus on solving his own problems.
The questions on the first layer were no longer difficult for him; many questions he even recognized, answering them came quite easily.
After he finished the eighth question, feeling confident that all eight were correct and able to move to the next layer, he looked up to see how Wu Chang was doing.
Thinking to himself that this big fellow might see the Erudition Challenge and realize he hadn’t deceived him, choosing to give up.
Having passed the first three trials so easily, it would be a pity if he was held back by the fourth.
But when he looked up, he found Wu Chang was not standing at his original spot, looking towards the pavilion exit, not finding Wu Chang failing the test due to too many mistakes.
Briefly hesitating, he looked up towards the stairs leading to the second layer and discovered that Wu Chang had already crossed the final step and moved to the second layer.
Though if Wu Chang left now, Duan Rui would feel it was a pity, but Wu Chang finishing the first layer so easily made him feel somewhat peculiar.
He hurriedly finished the last two questions and proceeded to the second layer.
Upon reaching the second layer, he focused more on solving problems, but after each question, would glance at Wu Chang.
He noticed the gap between them getting bigger. After finishing the sixth question, Wu Chang stepped forward towards the third layer.
Thus, he frantically chased from behind, but saw Wu Chang climb the stairs faster and faster.
Due to being distracted by Wu Chang, this time he only reached the seventh layer and ended the challenge due to too many errors.
When sent out of the Pavilion of Erudition, he saw Wu Chang just finish the ninth layer’s questions, stepping towards the tenth layer.
Is quantum speed reading really so effective?
At the tenth layer of the Pavilion of Erudition, Wu Chang looked at Duan Rui being sent out and sighed. The person is good, but unfortunately, his knowledge is lacking.
If Duan Rui had his knowledge from the All-Knowing Crystal, passing the fourth challenge wouldn’t be a problem at all.
Previously browsing the market and buying books, then reading by the lake with quantum reading, wasn’t a spur of the moment, teasing Duan Rui, but truly reading. It was just that it wasn’t him reading, but the All-Knowing Crystal.
For a normal cultivator, just memorizing the book list Duan Rui provided wouldn’t suffice to quickly complete the fourth challenge.
But for the All-Knowing Crystal, those books were enough to thoroughly absorb the Dungeon Plane’s knowledge system and deduce all the questions posed by the Pavilion of Erudition.
Thus, he easily advanced, even the tenth layer couldn’t make the All-Knowing Crystal pause for a moment.
Ultimately, across ten layers and a hundred questions, the All-Knowing Crystal completed the Erudition Challenge flawlessly.
The All-Knowing Crystal scored a hundred only because the full score was a hundred, even if the Pavilion of Erudition built another ten layers, the All-Knowing Crystal would still get every question correct.
But if roles were reversed and the All-Knowing Crystal posed questions to the Immortal Mansion Master, the Immortal Mansion Master would know who the true Wenquxing is.
Having completed the fourth challenge, he followed the instructions and pushed open the door of the tenth layer, finding it faced Megrez Lake again.
But this time it corresponded to winter, with a small boat anchored by the lake, he boarded the boat and sailed to a small island in the lake’s center.
On the island was the final challenge of Megrez Immortal Mansion, the Plot Challenge.
