Chapter 36 - Peace Never Lasts
Chapter 36: 36 - Peace Never Lasts
I rose from the rock, kicking the boots away. Leaving Noodle, who was completely drunk on the kiss we had just shared, I jumped into the water. The cold shock hit me, and I dove deep, letting the water envelop me, wash over me, cleanse me.
Kurus appeared in the water a moment later, swimming gracefully beside me. His body moved with fluidity, his tail propelling him forward. The scales on his tail shimmered in the sunlight that penetrated the water’s surface.
The light shifted as another shadow joined us. He glided closer, his eyes closed, his face relaxed as he basked in the sensation of being near me.
It fooled me for a moment with his serene expression, only to remember it was Dickhead, who was also naked, giving me a front-row seat to his junk floating in the water. His white pubic hair danced in the current like seaweed.
He looked too much at ease for someone who shouldn’t be here, who had no right to be in my space, let alone my line of sight.
We swam in silence, the three of us, in the cool embrace of the water. The world above seemed distant, forgotten. The only thing that existed was the water, the light, and our thoughts.
For a while, it was peaceful.
But peace never lasts. I could feel the change in the air, the tension building, the sense of unease creeping in. My fingers started to itch, craving the familiar weight of the machetes in my hands.
How could I enjoy this moment when the monsters were still out there? When the cries for help were still ringing in my ears? When the stench of blood was still fresh in my nostrils?
My muscles tensed, and my mind began to wander, the weight of the world on my shoulders. The serenity was slipping away, and the darkness was taking its place. The urge to destroy, to kill, to protect, grew stronger, consuming my thoughts.
I swam to the surface, the need for action pulsing through my veins. The water cascaded over my shoulders as I emerged, the sunlight blinding me for a moment. I squinted, trying to adjust to the brightness, but my mind was already elsewhere.
I could see them. The monsters, the bastards, the fuckers. They were waiting for me, taunting me, challenging me. I had to go, I had to fight, I had to kill.
"Mate...?" Kurus called out to me, sensing the shift in my mood.
"I’ll come back," I promised him, "after I deal with my problems."
"We had a deal, Precious," Dickhead reminded me, grabbing his pants from the rock where he left them.
I went to grab my clothes, but Noodle got there first.
"Run, Kurus." Dickhead leaped at me. "I will hold her off!"
My arm flung out, blocking his fist. He jumped back, dodging my kick, and lunged at me again.
Noodle slithered away with my clothes, keeping them out of my reach.
"Give me my clothes back, Noodle!"
He hissed at me, his fangs bared. "You were trying to disappear again! I won’t let you!"
He ducked and threw my clothes at Dickhead, who caught them mid-air and threw them into his space.
I was left in my underwear, dripping wet, and pissed off. "..."
"Stay where you are, Precious." Dickead outstretched his hands before him as if I were some kind of wild animal that needed to be tamed. "You gave your word."
"You dickless wonder think I give a damn about your deal?!" I stormed away, my fists clenched at my sides. My wet feet slapped against the ground as I walked, the water trickling down my skin, the cold air raising goosebumps on my flesh.
They both took off after me, barely making a sound as they pursued me.
"We need to take in more males," Dickhead said, "a lot more. We are not worth enough for Precious to stay. She will run away the moment she finds an opening."
"Who?" Noodle asked.
"Warm-blooded, righteous, with a sense of justice and all that good stuff. Nurturing, caring, loving. The kind that would make her feel bad for even touching them, and make her want to protect them, not hurt them."
I stopped in my tracks, letting them flank me. My gaze shifted between them, one on each side, as Dickhead listed the qualities I needed in males.
Noodle’s expression fell, and he looked down at his hands. He clenched them into fists, his claws digging into his palms. "I am not good enough for mate..."
Dickead put a hand on his shoulder, a gesture of comfort. "Same, buddy. But we can work on it. She will see our efforts and decide to stay."
I stared at them, unblinking.
"Let’s start with the little eagle who tried to save her. He seems like a good candidate."
Kurus’ eyes narrowed. "He is weak. He couldn’t even carry her. What use is he?"
I nodded in agreement. A warm-blooded eagle sounded like a live horror waiting to happen. As if two assholes weren’t enough.
Not to mention, I hated the idea of having three(four) dicks in my life. Three(four) dicks, three heads, three sets of demands and expectations. Three times the trouble, three times the headache. Three times the bullshit. And only one of me to deal with it all.
I grabbed a branch from a nearby tree and pointed it at them. "I’ll stick this in your asses if you dare to bring another male into this mess."
"You can stick it in the new male," Noodle suggested, trying to find a loophole in my threat to seem more ’worthy’. "I will help you, mate."
His eyes gleamed with malicious intent, and whatever was going on in his mind couldn’t be good. My trust in his sense of judgment was already at an all-time low. I could only imagine what he would come up with to impress me.
"Alright, then. Let’s go find more males," Dickhead’s lips curled into a smirk as he snapped his fingers, my clothes materializing in his outstretched palm. "Lead the way, Precious. Show your beauty to the world."
Throwing the stick at Noodle, I removed my undies and snatched the pants from Dickhead. I put them on with hostile movements. I then grabbed my black shirt and ripped it in half, using it as a scarf to cover my head and face. The cloak followed, its fabric settling over my shoulders, covering my wet bra.
"How far until the Gasums territory?" I handed my wet undies to Noodle.
"Three days, if we hurry." Noodle hung the undies on the stick to dry naturally. He then put the stick on his shoulder, and we began to follow after him. "The primals can slow us down."
"Fun." My lips stretched into a smile. "Tell me more about them."
