Beastmen Are Crazy, So I Sell Them Therapy
Chapter 170 - 168
Chapter 170: Chapter 168
"Blanca, this is your mom."
Gavin’s voice was unusually gentle as he stopped in front of a large painting.
I gazed up at it and immediately understood why everyone kept talking about Callista Delanye’s beauty.
One look at her, and I genuinely didn’t know whether I should look away from her gaze or keep staring at her face.
She was breathtaking.
Her expression was calm, but there was something intimidating about the way she looked at the painting.
[She looks like one of those goddesses silently mocking you for being human.]
Gavin stared at the message, then proudly looked back at the painting. "And yet, many beastmen still wanted her," his chest puffed up. "Too bad for them. She only loved me."
[Don’t you mean Dad?]
Gavin rolled his eyes. "I’m also your dad. Therefore, she loved both of us."
"..."
’Other Dad... That is not how that works.’
Deciding that arguing with him would probably reduce my remaining brain cells, I typed another question instead.
[What about Dad?]
Gavin frowned. "What do you mean?"
[Pictures of Dad?]
His entire expression immediately darkened. "Why would I keep a picture of that trash?"
[You definitely have one.]
"I don’t."
"Nya?"
Translation: Really?
Gavin raised an eyebrow. "Nya."
Gawain suddenly spoke. "Father."
I quickly turned towards him. ’When the hell did he get here?’
I was almost certain he had been outside a few seconds ago.
Then again, this was Gawain.
He had a strange habit of appearing out of nowhere whenever something interesting was happening.
At this point, I decided not to question it anymore.
He was always like this anyway.
One moment, he was nowhere to be seen. The next, he was suddenly standing beside me like he’d been there the entire time.
"What?"
"Just show her."
Gavin looked offended. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"Father."
He crossed his arms. "I do have one."
Gavin placed me carefully on top of his desk before walking towards the large door behind it.
I watched curiously as he grabbed the handle and, for some reason, he sighed deeply, then—
BANG!
Hanging behind the door was a piece of paper that I honestly don’t know if I could even call it a portrait anymore.
It was less of a painting and more of a crime scene.
The entire portrait was filled with daggers.
There was one lodged directly through the forehead, two through the chest, several scattered around the neck, and one had somehow landed precisely where the man’s left eye should have been.
I couldn’t even see his face at all.
"..."
I looked at Gavin again, but he only crossed his arms.
"What?" he asked defensively. "I told you I didn’t have any pictures of him."
"Petty as ever, Father," Gawain only said as he moved towards the desk, opened one of the drawers, and pulled out a picture frame.
Gavin’s eyes widened. "Son."
Gawain glanced at him. "What?"
"Put that back."
"No."
"That wasn’t a request."
"And yet here I am, continuing to ignore you."
Gavin’s eye twitched, but Gawain casually placed the picture frame in front of me.
I immediately grabbed it with both paws before Gavin could swoop in and snatch it away.
"NYA NYA!"
Translation: FINDERS KEEPERS!
"I look ugly in that picture!" Gavin whined.
I ignored him and carefully stared at the photograph.
There were three people.
Gavin, Mom, and...
’Wait.’
I frowned and leaned closer.
’Dad?’
My ears slowly perked up.
This is my real Dad?
I stared at the man in the photograph.
He looked just like Dad from my original world!
He had the same face, same hair, and the same overall appearance. The only difference was the color of his eyes.
They were red.
’Dad isn’t dead?’
Then another thought entered my brain.
’Did Dad cheat on Mom?’
I stared at the photograph.
’Which Mom did Dad cheat on?’
My brain immediately got worse.
’Or did Dad originally have two wives?’
At this point, my brain had already clocked out.
I slowly raised my head and stared at the ceiling.
No. Not the ceiling.
I stared beyond at wherever the hell Grandpa Benjamin was currently hiding after dropping the biggest family revelation of my entire existence and then abandoning me with absolutely no explanation.
"NYAAAANGGGGG!!!!"
Translation: GRAAAAMPPPSSSS!!!
Gavin and Gawain both jumped and watched me in shock.
"NYA NYANG NYA NYA?!!"
Translation: WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?!
I waved the picture frame furiously toward the ceiling as if Grandpa Benjamin might somehow be watching from the other side.
"NYANG! NYANG NYAAA!"
TRANSLATION: I DESERVE TO KNOW THE FREAKING TRUTH!
My voice echoed through the office, but nothing happened.
’Seriously, Gramps?’
I shouted again.
"NYAAAAANG!"
Translation: YOU CAN’T JUST DROP A FAMILY SECRET LIKE THAT AND LEAVE!
"...What is she doing?" Gavin whispered.
"Probably communicating with her ancestors," Gawain replied without the slightest concern as he took a sip of his tea.
Gavin looked at him. "Is that normal?"
"Unfortunately."
"NYAA! NYAA! NYANGGGG!!!"
Translation: ANSWER ME, GRAMPS!!!
My head suddenly felt heavy as the picture frame slowly slipped from my paws.
"Nya?"
I blacked out.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
The silence in the office lasted exactly one second before both men moved at the same time.
"BLANCA?!"
Gawain reached me first and caught my tiny body before I could fall off the desk.
"Hey!"
He gently shook me.
"Little sis?"
Nothing.
Gavin’s face immediately changed. "Why isn’t she answering?!"
"I don’t know!"
"You said this was normal!"
"I said shouting at the ceiling was normal!"
"Just call the family doctor!"
The robot standing quietly in the corner immediately activated.
[Calling the family physician.]
[Estimated arrival time: three minutes.]
Gavin immediately turned towards it. "Three minutes?!"
[That is approximately one hundred and eighty seconds.]
"I KNOW HOW LONG THREE MINUTES IS!"
Gawain carefully held me against his chest, his earlier amusement completely gone.
"Blanca."
He lightly tapped my cheek.
"Don’t you dare wake up later and pretend you don’t remember what happened."
Gavin anxiously paced around the room. "Was it because she shouted too much?"
"Father."
"What?"
"That’s not how fainting works."
"How would you know?!"
Gawain only sighed as he tried to calm his father down.
