Anchang Village,

"This road really needs some fixing."

Zhao returned to his hometown of Anchang Village with his wife and child, planning to invite his parents to accompany him to the city this time.

The elderly couple had lived in this remote little mountain village for decades, rarely having the chance to see the outside world, so Zhao decided to take them along.

Anchang Village was even more secluded than the former Xuanhe Village, with its rugged mountain roads and many dirt paths, making driving here quite challenging.

Despite having lived in Xuanhe Town for only two months, Zhao deeply appreciated its advantages.

These advantages manifested in well-developed infrastructure, better employment opportunities, and a sense of safety and security.

"Dad! I’m going out to play now!"

After visiting his grandparents back home, Zhao decided to venture out while his parents were busy persuading the elderly couple.

"Alright, be careful." Zhao was busy trying to persuade his parents, who were unwilling to let him spend money going out to play, both being equally stubborn, so he waved his hand dismissively.

Leaving the house, Zhao looked around and felt bored.

"There’s nothing fun here!"

No Puppy Team, no Violent Cloud Sparrow, and no playmates around.

In the afternoon after a blizzard, Anchang Village resembled a coarse fabric patch carelessly thrown amid mountain folds, gray tiled roofs burdened with thick snow.

Standing on the deserted street, Zhao blew into his frostbitten hands, the pompom on his tiger-headed hat bouncing as he hopped around.

Suddenly, a thought struck him, and he dashed forward, eventually arriving in front of a familiar old house.

He looked up at the old house, a smug smile gradually spreading across his face.

The last time he discovered a poaching team here and informed Chen Yuan, earning praise from everyone.

Could there still be bad people living here?

Zhao’s heart surged with a strong sense of exploration, but he didn’t forget the basic principle of caution, carefully observing his surroundings as he slowly approached the old house.

Unfortunately, there were no poachers residing in the old house.

Indeed, no poacher would choose such an inauspicious place as a base.

"Oh, it’s boring, boring."

Seeing no bad people around, Zhao felt bored again and kicked a small stone with his head down.

The stone flew forward, finally landing in the snowy ground behind the old house.

Suddenly feeling a chill, Zhao was about to head home to warm up, but looked up and saw the stone had fallen into a deep pit.

His eyes lit up as he ran forward, discovering a millstone-sized pit that had suddenly sunk into the snow, resembling a giant human footprint.

Squatting down for a closer look, the pit’s bottom had a few star-like ice flakes embedded, emitting a faint blue glow amidst the twilight, resembling tears from a melting glacier.

Looking ahead, it wasn’t just this footprint; a string of footprints snaked into the pine forest.

The old house stood at the edge of Anchang Village, with all the houses here left idle, almost never seeing anyone around.

Cold winds scattered powdery snow from the branches, and Zhao’s eyes shone brightly as he followed the series of deep pit-like footprints forward as if enchanted.

The last time he discovered poachers, what could he find this time?

Would everyone reward him this time?

After walking for a while, he passed through the bare pine forest, and a cave appeared before him, where the giant footprints halted.

Zhao remembered this cave, it was once a secret base for him and his friends.

But his friends had all left the village, leaving those beautiful memories permanently sealed here.

Suddenly, a cool breeze carrying the scent of rocks and ice blew from the cave, making Zhao shiver, but he bravely peeked inside.

Looking forward under the not-so-bright sunlight, he could vaguely see a massive shadow almost filling the entire space, curled up.

The enormous shadow’s surface was covered in a blue-white intertwined thick ice armor, shimmering with a cold, hard glow under the dim light.

It was so large, curled up in the cave like a breathing snow mountain, making the originally vast cave feel utterly cramped.

The giant seemed to be breathing, each heavy breath stirring up a fine icy wind, which condensed into tiny frost at its mouth and nose, falling gently.

Zhao was so frightened he sat down in the snow, his heart pounding against his ribs, his eyes showing profound fear.

He wasn’t afraid of poachers, nor would he be scared by wild Pet Beasts, but what kind of monster was this giant in front of him?

Suddenly, Zhao remembered the stories his parents had once told, tales of a giant snowman living in the mountains, cold and cruel, that would snatch away disobedient children to eat in one bite...

"Don’t eat me!"

Sitting in the cold snow, Zhao shouted loudly, his voice tinged with a sob.

The man-eating snowman seemed startled by this remark.

Its huge body trembled slightly, the menacing head covered in ice armor slowly lifted, making Zhao’s heartbeat skip a beat.

Meanwhile, a pair of eyes like melting amber opened in the cavern’s shadows, the gentle gaze carrying indescribable fatigue, slowly falling on the shivering little figure at the cave’s entrance.

In contrast to the menacing giant head, the eyes showed no fierce light, only a profound weariness almost about to crush it.

The snowman uttered no sound, but carefully, almost cautiously, laid open its giant palm capable of easily smashing other Pet Beasts’ heads, and gently, repeatedly pressed against its ice-armored belly.
