Beast Taming: I'm Really Just a Forest Ranger
Chapter 601 - 276: Cola and Sprite! New Farm Companion! (Part 3)
"Why not call it Sprite?"
Chen Yuan was taken aback, then lowered his eyes, his gaze landing on the Winter Dog quietly drinking Sprite, a smile spreading across his lips: "That’s a good idea."
"Cola."
"Hmm?" Cola looked up in confusion.
Chen Yuan pointed to the Winter Dog, his smile radiant: "It’s going to be your new companion; its name is Sprite."
"Cola and Sprite, natural enemies... no, naturally one family."
The Gale Hunting Dog, fond of drinking Cola, and the Winter Dog, fond of Sprite—an invisible bond brought these two little creatures together.
Since that’s decided, Chen Yuan no longer planned to wait for Sprite to make a final decision; he had already decided to bring this little guy back to the farm.
Sprite was immersed in the delicious drink, unaware that its fate had unknowingly been arranged by the human behind it. It was about to head to an ordinary farm and meet other little companions.
The night grew darker, and everyone was gathered by the tent chatting, while the little ones played and entertained themselves.
"Squeak squeak."
The Winter Dog, full and content, lay on its side resting on the snow, its soft, chubby belly lying there, but its gaze couldn’t help but fall on the other pet beasts.
With nothing else to do, the little creatures either sparred against each other or trained silently.
Even though the past few days were meant for rest, pet beasts with plans for their future would never give up any time for training; they strive relentlessly for victory until they become stronger.
Except for Cola.
Cola thought it performed brilliantly today, lying lazily beside a large rock, yawning extensively.
Duck was right; the happy life is to eat until full, then sleep until full, then eat again.
Sprite felt it should learn from the seniors, so it slowly climbed to its feet and moved to another spot to start practicing the most basic skill - Cold Breath.
Seeing Sprite’s reaction, Chen Yuan nodded silently.
He’s not afraid of a pet beast lacking in aptitude or talent; he’s just worried about being like Duck, only thinking about eating and waiting to die, never actively training.
Thinking of this, Chen Yuan silently muttered: "Once Sprite is brought back to the farm, be cautious; don’t let it get spoiled by Duck."
He still hoped the Winter Dog would train well and aim to help him solve some troubles in the future.
For instance, dealing with challenges from Beastmasters, or helping to guard the house when he’s away.
Steel-headed Ground Rat is good, but when it comes to guarding the house, canine pet beasts are the professionals.
Under the starry sky, after a day of climbing, Chen Yuan and the others were somewhat fatigued, returning early to the tent to rest, while the little ones also returned one by one.
In the silence of the night, Cola lay outside the tent, keeping guard over the surroundings.
Danger often lurks in the night.
The Winter Dog was still training, and its diligence made Cola feel ashamed, inexplicably thinking that its new little brother might get along well with Iron Head.
Before long, Cola yawned, and a wave of drowsiness began to wash over it.
Suddenly, a fierce wind swept through, stirring up snowdust, blowing through fur, even scattering the clouds high in the sky.
"Hmm?"
Cola suddenly regained its alertness, quickly looking forward.
An invisible gale was brewing, instantly spanning east and west, roaring loudly.
"Woof woof woof!"
Cola abruptly stood up, holding its head high as it watched forward, excitedly wanting to rush into the wind, but quickly calmed down and sounded a cautious alert.
The master said, if encountering any unexpected situation, immediately wake him.
Cola’s voice quickly woke up the four sleeping persons; Chen Yuan got up promptly and walked out of the tent: "Cola, what’s happening?"
"Woof woof!"
Cola kept a close eye on the front, its tail gently wagging.
"Gale..." Chen Yuan squinted his eyes as the surging wind instantly blew away the last bit of sleepiness, his brain immediately clear, "Another gale!"
Li Junyue woke up even earlier than Chen Yuan, his expression becoming solemn, shouting: "Quickly find a place to hide!"
No time to ponder why the gale reappeared; the pressing task was to find shelter.
Everyone and the little ones acted immediately, but Cola frowned as it looked forward: "Hmm?"
Wait.
Where’s its new little brother?
Wasn’t it training in the front earlier?
Chen Yuan noticed Cola’s reaction; he looked ahead and suddenly realized Sprite was nowhere to be seen: "Sprite has been swept into the gale?"
Sprite was small in size, though unafraid of gale once fully grown, for now... it would likely be blown away directly.
"Woof!"
Cola’s eyes widened, equally realizing the possibility, before it could ponder, its body instinctively charged toward the gale.
Boom!
Cola’s speed increased, surrounding itself with a gentle wind, its shape turning into a blurred shadow, rushing straight into the gale in an instant.
It’s its fault.
It must rescue this newly recognized little brother!
Even the gale cannot take its little brother!
