Beast Taming: I'm Really Just a Forest Ranger
Chapter 554 262: Trial of Steel! Clash of the Double-Edged Blades!
"In my opinion, we shouldn't confront this creature head-on; we have to use cunning."
The speaker was a tall, slim young man. He adjusted his glasses, the frames reflecting a glint of thoughtful light: "I recommend using a Poison-type Pet Beast. First, weaken its condition with poison skills, then keep it at a distance and wear it out. That's the best chance of winning."
Next to him stood a burly man with obvious muscles, who shook his head: "No way, it has Tier Three strength. Your Pet Beast definitely can't withstand a single hit."
"I say, we should still use a Rock Pet Beast."
After a slight pause, he slowly shared his thoughts with the people around him: "There's talk online that this creature only knows two skills: Steel Blade and Iron Arm."
"Although Steel Blade is strong, if your Pet Beast's defense is strong enough, it can definitely withstand a few moves and find an opportunity to defeat it."
The man with glasses shook his head, voicing his disagreement: "No, I still think a Poison-type Pet Beast is more suitable."
The muscular man crossed his arms over his chest, snorted coldly: "Rock Pet Beast!"
"Poison type!"
"Rock type!"
Their argument grew increasingly heated, and a long-haired youth suddenly smirked, interrupting them: "You really are naive students without any real-world battle experience. Battles aren't as easy as you make them sound."
Both of them glared, full of defiance.
The long-haired youth's lips curled slightly as he pointed towards the distant Steel-headed Ground Rat, speaking leisurely: "No matter what tactics or strategies you come up with, you can't ignore one thing — this creature is Tier Three strength."
"Any tactic or strategy without solid power is nonsense."
"Only Tier Three can contend with Tier Three."
The muscular man still looked unconvinced, speaking in a booming voice: "Who doesn't know that? But how many Tier Three Pet Beasts are there now? Do you think Tier Three Pet Beasts are as common as cabbages on the roadside?"
Every Beastmaster is well aware of the vast gaps between power levels, but since Advisor Chen set this challenge, and especially since the opponent is a very rare Tier Three Pet Beast, the vast majority of Beastmasters are eager to witness the power of a Tier Three Pet Beast firsthand and hone themselves.
Despite the warnings after challenges by one Beastmaster after another to others not to challenge, and even though the Steel-headed Ground Rat's impressive track record frightened a group of hesitant Beastmasters, a few still come daily to Xuanhe Village to challenge the infamous Steel-headed Ground Rat, disbelieving the warnings.
This is the Steel Trial.
If you happen to pass the trial, you could certainly boast online for quite some time.
But there are very few Beastmasters with a Tier Three Pet Beast, and the vast majority of Beastmasters are defeated with just one strike.
The long-haired youth smiled without saying a word.
"What are you all...?"
Suddenly, an unfamiliar voice echoed in everyone's ears; they all turned around to see a handsome young man with black hair.
On his left shoulder perched an unrecognizable Fire-breathing Bird, on his right sat the extremely rare Twin Flower Concubine, and at his legs crouched a majestic, sharp-eyed Gale Hunting Dog, looking at them with curiosity.
Looking further ahead, one could see a Run Run Duck and an Electric Flying Cat atop the back of a Fallen Meteor Horned Beast, making everyone even more puzzled.
This man with six Pet Beasts, what kind of affluent family is he from?
The muscular man scratched his head, instinctively feeling that this Beastmaster before him was quite extraordinary, so he obediently spoke up:
"Buddy, you're here for Advisor Chen's trial too, right?"
"Trial?" Chen Yuan furrowed his brows.
What trial?
Seeing Chen Yuan's puzzled face, the muscular man pondered for a moment before chuckling: "It's strange that you're here and don't know about it."
After a pause, he pointed towards the distant farm: "You must know about the recently famous Advisor Chen, right? He lives on this farm."
"There's a Steel-headed Ground Rat at the farm gate. Whoever can defeat it can pass the trial and get the chance to talk to Advisor Chen."
"The conversation itself isn't important, but if you could be the first to pass the trial, imagine how long you could brag about it?"
As he spoke, the muscular man's face beamed with a smile, as if he had already imagined his own glory after being the first to pass the trial.
Chen Yuan was speechless for a moment.
How could he, the person in question, not know about this trial?
Where did this rumor originate from?
"Buddy, your Gale Hunting Dog seems strong. Give it a shot, maybe you can defeat that guy." The muscular man urged Chen Yuan upon seeing his silence.
It's embarrassing if you're single-handedly defeated by the Steel-headed Ground Rat, but if a group experiences the same, it doesn't matter as much.
"Are you Advisor Chen?"
Before Chen Yuan could respond to the muscular man, the long-haired youth had been staring at Chen Yuan for a while, and suddenly spoke up, his tone filled with uncertainty.
Chen Yuan smiled slightly: "I'm Chen Yuan, come over, let's chat."
Upon hearing this, everyone froze on the spot.
The long-haired youth, confirming his suspicion, hurriedly caught up with Chen Yuan and spoke excitedly: "Advisor Chen, I didn't expect it was really you."
He was from out of town and hadn't watched the Da Feng Cup, and the countless news reports hadn't included any photos of Chen Yuan, so he wasn't familiar with his appearance.
Fortunately, on his way here, he'd caught a glimpse of a poster of Chen Yuan by chance, which left a slight impression and led to his recognition.
"Advisor Chen, I heard you went into the mountains?" The long-haired youth inquired, reigning in his surging emotions.
"Yes." Chen Yuan nodded, then glanced at Iron Head not far away, muttering, "I didn't expect to come back to such a surprise."
"Clack."
Seeing Chen Yuan and his companions from afar, Iron Head stepped out of the shadow, his expression serious, nodding slightly.
Reporting to the farm owner, everything is normal at the farm. No one has broken in currently.
