Chapter 451: Chapter 290: Disaster White Tiger

This was the very place he had been defeated and gnawed on before.

Bathed in the light of the Radiant Gold Vein Opening Stone, the entire hall was as bright as day. The Earthquake Beasts formed orderly queues, entering a deeper cavern only after being inspected one by one by the “Golden Gradients.”

Yu Bao was just now realizing how massive this place truly was. The Great Earthquake Beast he was controlling could move about the hall without any issue. ‘Strange,’ he thought. ‘Don’t the Earthquake Beasts cause earthquakes? How is this place not affected? By all rights, it should’ve collapsed long ago…’

As he was pondering this, Yu Bao once again spotted the “Golden Gradient” Earthquake Beasts.

‘Last time, I couldn’t bluff my way through by acting cute,’ Yu Bao mused, ‘but this time, surely I can—’

“SKREEE!”

But to his surprise, the Golden Gradients didn’t hesitate for a second, pouncing on him with a fierce roar.

The other Golden Gradients immediately noticed the commotion and swarmed toward the Great Earthquake Beast under Yu Bao’s control.

Yu Bao was momentarily stunned. ‘Even last time they inspected me for a bit before attacking. Why is it different now…’

“They must know something’s wrong with you. After all, this beast wasn’t under your control when it left.”

Su Zhi replied, “The act is over. Go all out!”

“Woof!”

“SKREEE!”

The Great Earthquake Beast opened its jaws and clamped down on a Golden Gradient that was charging it.

Compared to common Earthquake Beasts, the Golden Gradients were top-tier in both size and combat prowess. How else could they be tasked with inspecting the others?

Yet compared to the far more massive Great Earthquake Beast, these Golden Gradients were like infants before an adult.

The Golden Gradient had no time to dodge before it was engulfed by the colossal maw, which was several meters in diameter.

“CRUNCH—”

With a final exertion of force, the Golden Gradient was bitten clean in two at its midsection. A mud-like ichor sprayed everywhere in a spectacular fashion.

Yu Bao was ecstatic.

He had only ever been on the receiving end of the Earthquake Beasts’ bites. When had he ever gotten the chance to bite back? Today, he finally got to scratch that itch!

He and the Great Earthquake Beast were an absolute wrecking crew!

‘At this rate,’ he thought, ‘it might even be possible to wipe out all the Earthquake Beasts in this entire cavern system…’

Just as Yu Bao was about to go on a rampage, he felt feedback from the Great Earthquake Beast’s body and suddenly froze.

A Golden Gradient had latched onto one of the beast’s legs. While the Great Earthquake Beast’s offensive power was immense, its agility left much to be desired, making defensive blind spots inevitable.

This sort of damage was something Yu Bao had anticipated.

Even if it stood perfectly still and let the other beasts chew on it, its body was so massive they’d probably be at it until next year.

To his surprise, however, the area where the Golden Gradient had bitten began to dissolve rapidly, as if corroded by a strong acid. Within seconds, a huge chunk of the leg was gone!

“???” Yu Bao was at a loss for words.

‘So we’re just cheating now, are we?’

Su Zhi immediately urged, “That must be how they control the ordinary Earthquake Beasts! Find a way to stall them! The beasts from outside are heading for you too!”

As Su Zhi spoke, Yu Bao could already hear the thud of heavy footfalls approaching. A dense horde of Earthquake Beasts, large and small, appeared at the hall’s periphery, surging toward him like a tidal wave!

“Woof!” Gritting his teeth, Yu Bao stopped cowering behind the Great Earthquake Beast and leaped onto its back.

At the same time, a swirling vortex of sand and dust filled the entire underground hall. Radiant Gold Battle Shields and Golden Sand Battle Sabers materialized, beginning to circle the Great Earthquake Beast.

Yu Bao and the Great Earthquake Beast had truly begun their rampage.

Each of the Great Earthquake Beast’s stomps flattened several Earthquake Beasts, and each bite tore any that got too close to shreds.

The ordinary Earthquake Beasts were completely unable to inflict any real damage, only managing to leave teeth marks on its rough, solid hide. Meanwhile, the more threatening Golden Gradients were easily identifiable, so Yu Bao had already marked each one.

The moment they drew near, the Radiant Gold Battle Shields and Golden Sand Battle Sabers circling the Great Earthquake Beast would instantly react.

The Golden Gradients were either smashed to pieces on the spot or knocked back, only to be finished off in a single bite by the Great Earthquake Beast.

The Great Earthquake Beast handled crowd control while Yu Bao finished off the stragglers. Working in tandem, they had surprisingly achieved perfect tank-and-DPS coordination!

But even two fists can’t fight four hands. Facing an ocean of Earthquake Beasts, the Great Earthquake Beast finally began to show signs of fatigue. After trampling a few more of them, a Golden Gradient opened its massive maw and sank its teeth into the Great Earthquake Beast’s previously injured leg.

The Great Earthquake Beast, under Yu Bao’s control, felt no pain, of course. Nevertheless, that single bite had cost it a leg—one it needed for both offense and support.

“Skreeee…”

The remaining Earthquake Beasts immediately swarmed it. The Great Earthquake Beast was quickly overwhelmed, beginning to sway on its feet like an elephant surrounded by a colony of ants. And in this case, the size difference was nowhere near as drastic as that between an ant and an elephant.

Before long, the Great Earthquake Beast collapsed with a thunderous crash.

Roaring, the horde of Earthquake Beasts swarmed over the Great Earthquake Beast’s fallen body to surround Yu Bao, then opened their cavernous, blood-red maws.

“CHOMP!”

…

“Skreee…?”

A few of the Earthquake Beasts chewed on empty air, looking around in confusion. They could no longer sense Yu Bao’s presence.

·

Over a hundred meters away, Su Zhi and Tuoba Jing kept low to the ground, advancing rapidly along the path Yu Bao had scouted ahead of time.

Wu Bao, its size adjusted with Doubling, charged at the forefront, acting as the vanguard. Its horn, like a Riding Lance, let out a sharp whistle as it cut through the air.

Thanks to the commotion Yu Bao had just raised, most of the Earthquake Beasts had been drawn away by the sound. Only a few stragglers, too slow to keep up, remained.

On the rare occasion they did encounter one, the Earthquake Beast would be sent flying by Wu Bao before it even had a chance to react.

“Woof!”

A deep blue Energy Light Array flashed, and Yu Bao appeared at Su Zhi’s side to report on the outcome of the battle.
