Shani 107 – Currents-Calming Potion

Jeryon was about to ask when exactly they would start the resonance session for their second egg.

His mind was already racing, calculating where he could order an artificial egg that could arrive that very day.

"But you’re still struggling with Ribbon Essence training, right? It seems you should focus on practicing first."

Shani’s words popped another balloon, the one carrying Jeryon up to seventh heaven, sending him crashing back down to earth at breakneck speed.

"Y-yeah," Jeryon stammered on reflex.

"What’s the hardest part of your training? The movement techniques or regulating your beast essence?" Shani asked, completely oblivious to the shift in Jeryon’s expression.

Jeryon quietly drew a breath to steady his facial expression, then replied in his usual calm, Prince Jeryon tone, "Both are difficult. But for movement techniques, I can get used to them through continuous practice. As for regulating beast essence, I haven’t found the right way to control it yet."

Shani nodded in deep agreement, remembering how much she had struggled when controlling her essence for the first time.

She then shared how Elias had taught her, "Instructor Theron made me extremely annoyed. I channeled that irritation, and it successfully turned into beast essence."

Jeryon turned toward Shani as she explained with utmost seriousness. An indulgent smile crept onto his face.

"Not everyone can instantly convert their strongest emotion into beast essence. And almost no one can master controlling it in less than an hour. The only ones who can do that are prodigies like you, Shan."

Shani waved her hand dismissively. "I’m no prodigy. Instructor Theron keeps looking at me like I’m his worst student."

Jeryon chuckled. "He acts like that in front of you? He was actually praising you, Shan. He even told me that we should swap ranks."

Shani was dumbfounded. She vividly recalled Elias’s annoying face during every practice session.

’Is that his idea of teaching? How unreliable.’ Shani refused to feel grateful for praise she hadn’t heard with her own ears.

Before they knew it, they had arrived at the cafeteria, where their friends were still waiting for them.

While eating, Shani recalled Jeryon’s words. ’Am I really a prodigy? Or am I just good at regulation?’

Shani couldn’t answer that herself. Her thoughts shifted to Jeryon.

’Jeryon’s second milestone is to win the Tower Competition. But seeing how far behind he is compared to Eric and the other club members, can he really win later on?’

’System, is there a book that gives a more detailed and beginner-friendly explanation on mastering Ribbon Essence? If there’s a potion that instantly makes someone an expert, even better.’

Shani had only asked on a whim. Surprisingly, the System actually answered her.

[Host can purchase the e-book The Best Guide to Become a Pro Ribbon Essence Athlete for 650 Credits. And purchase a Currents-Calming Potion to facilitate regulation for 20,000 Credits.]

’The book is way cheaper than the ones I bought before. But why is the potion so ridiculously expensive?!’ Shani shrieked internally.

A second later, the turmoil in her heart settled, remembering that all of it would end up as cashback for her anyway.

’Then I’ll buy the e-book and two potions, one for me,’ Shani said cheerfully.

[Warning, Host! Your bodily condition does not require a Currents-Calming Potion. Drinking it will cause you difficulty with regulation.]

’Then why is Jeryon allowed to drink it?’

[Target Jeryon of Argenor possesses an awakened energy pool that causes the currents in his body to fluctuate according to the mood of the energy pool.]

[Nothing can be done to calm the energy pool other than waiting until Target Jeryon of Argenor manages to control it himself. The best method for now is using a Currents-Calming Potion to soothe the currents after they leave the energy pool.]

Shani certainly remembered that Jeryon’s main issue was his awakened energy pool. She hadn’t expected the energy pool to be so moody, causing trouble for Jeryon once again.

’Hmm, is this potion similar to a sedative potion that has a time limit?’

[Correct, Host. Every beastman has a different time limit depending on how chaotic their currents are.]

’Then what is the time limit for Jeryon?’

[One week. Warning, Host! Overusing the Currents-Calming Potion can trigger negative reactions from the energy pool. Safe usage is once a month.]

The System seemed to read Shani’s mind when she heard "one week."

Shani clicked her tongue internally. ’What a fussy little pool!’

’If it’s only one week out of a month, does Jeryon have to spend the other three weeks struggling?’ Shani felt his training wouldn’t be very effective if that was the case.

[Host, ultimately Target Jeryon of Argenor must be able to control his energy pool on his own.]

This time, the System sounded like an elder offering sage advice.

Shani let out a disappointed sigh, but ultimately nodded.

’Then I’ll buy the e-book, one Currents-Calming Potion, and one Stamina Booster Potion. It’s been almost a month since the last time I gave Jeryon a Stamina Booster, so it should be fine, right?’

This time, the System offered no further warning.

[Cashback Shop Activated! Purchase successful: The Best Guide to Become a Pro Ribbon Essence Athlete e-book, 1x Currents-Calming Potion, 1x Stamina Booster Potion for 30,650 Credits. Remaining Cashback Balance: 285,350 Credits.]

After wrapping up her transaction with the System, Shani resumed eating in peace.

Seeing how quiet she was, her friends didn’t disturb her, assuming she was just exhausted.

Upon returning to her dorm, Shani took a quick shower, then prepared two juices, pouring them into small shot-glass-like cups.

She spiked the spinach juice with the Currents-Calming Potion, while the apple juice received the Stamina Booster Potion.

She then contacted Jeryon and asked to meet right away. Her face lit up as she presented the two drinks to him.

"Both of these juices are really good for your health. I also sent you a great e-book to read."

Despite feeling confused, Jeryon chugged both drinks and opened the e-book Shani sent him.

Ding! A system notification chimed in Shani’s ears...
