Chapter 982: Playing with Fire (Part 2)

The two wisps of divine fire that were cut by Nailisi underwent different changes. The one with the core, which was later pierced, grew more than a hundred times its original size.

If it had not been for Nailisi’s squeezing it back, it would have grown still. The power of life within that divine fire was incredibly powerful, and it was constantly raging. The divine fire expanded and contracted in a syncopated rhythm, as if it was breathing.

The wisp of divine fire had lost all of its might, leaving only a thin power of life force behind for Nailisi to consume. Most importantly, it was no longer possible for that wisp of divine fire to devour Nailisi’s soul after its core was broken. One of the rules that was imbued within that fire did allow it to open up to Nailisi, however.

She was elated and went to swallow the fire with one gulp. The fire raged within her soul in an instant.

The lineage of the Luoluokaluo depended entirely on consuming the powers of others to advance. So, as the divine fire burned, Nailisi even heard an irrepressible moaning coming from the depths of her soul, which was now filled with an indescribable sense of satisfaction.

Then, the ferocious might of the divine fire disappeared without a trace amid the moaning of the Luoluokaluo’s soul. Nailisi’ soul seemed to almost burst out of her body as the divine fire was devoured by her soul entirely. The fires were no longer within her at that moment.

It had not hurt her to devour the fire in this way at all. Although the divine fire’s temperature was actually far above Nailisi’s normal tolerance threshold, to her soul, the divine fire simply acted as an unrivaled supplement.

After all, there was no other being that was capable of gulping down divine fire like her, and none would have dared do so either, unless said being was a level 16 true god that was at least a whole level above a pseudogod.

Strictly speaking, the Divine Baby’s divine fire was not actually at the true pseudogod level. The existence of the Divine Baby was a carbon copy of all of the rules of the nature goddess.

At present, the Divine Baby was deep within her mind, and that divine fire was something that Saleen had forced out. If things had been going according to plan, the Divine Baby would not even have appeared at all.

She had forcefully robbed her followers’ powers, thus enabling her to give birth to the Divine Baby in the shortest time possible. As such, there was no way the Divine Baby could have been perfect.

The Divine Baby had even devoured hundreds of believers, which had made the divine fire somewhat flawed. As Nailisi was unable to pinpoint the core of the divine fire, she destroyed it within roughly an hour’s time.

Then, the divine fire’s flaw was gone, along with its core, and all that was left of it was a type of rules of life, which Nailisi consumed bit by bit. The half of her soul, which was damaged by the Divine Baby, had regrown as well.

Nailisi carefully used the powers of the divine fire to temper her own soul, but at the same time, she also strengthened the soul bond between her and Saleen. She would have been able to simply wipe such a contract away, but Nailisi did not want that soul bond to be nullified, as if it was no longer around, she would have a hard time sensing Saleen’s emotions and thoughts.

There was also the issue of Sensory Sharing with Saleen to consider. Nailisi would not have been able to enjoy such a privilege without that soul bond either.

The injury that had been sustained by her soul healed completely after it had absorbed the divine fire. However, what was troubling was how it would have taken another three to five years before she would have been able to absorb all the divine fire.

There was still a need, after all, to digest that divine fire after it was absorbed. During such a process, there was no way she would have been able to consume anything else. This meant that Nailisi had no way to develop other types of powers for the time being.

Nailisi could not have tolerated being forced into such a passive position. So, she took out the thunder dragon’s hide that Saleen had given her and opened her eerie, big mouth. She then swallowed that piece of hide whole! She had no intentions of keeping the facade of a human in front of Saleen, especially since he had already seen everything there was to be see about her!

Saleen had given Nailisi too many pieces of the thunder dragon’s hide. In fact, she received three pieces every time the dragon molted. As such, Nailisi continued to devour the hide of that thunder dragon whole, absorbing the rules of lightning that were imbued within it. She did so in order to perfect her Lightning Protection ability.

Saleen sighed, while Nicholas waited for his new Scepter of the Fallen be crafted again, as she was unable to do anything at the moment. However, Nailisi did restart her training again.

At that moment, Saleen had no choice but to allow the Magical Element Tower to rise to the surface slowly on its own. The whirlpool at sea had ebbed and disappeared as the temple collapsed. Saleen then contacted Truman and had him bring the Dragon Remains Combat Vessel to him.

Nailisi trained earnestly, which meant that the tower was not allowed to simply fly, and it also couldn’t be allowed to be placed in the dimension stone. So, Saleen simply let the tower float on the sea, with its topmost floors sticking out of the surface as they headed for Ceylon City slowly alongside the ship.

Nailisi was ignoring Nicholas for the moment, as she was focusing on perfecting her skills. The passage of time within the necklace that the thunder dragon was housed within flowed extremely fast, and the thunder dragon also molted frequently.

The thunder dragon perfected its lightning abilities a bit more every time it molted, and Nailisi continued devouring the thunder dragon’s hides, which molted at different stages. This allowed her to perfect her lightning abilities, bit by bit.

The process was a rather slow one, but it was also happening too quickly for one to be able to attempt to perfect his or her skills. Until now, there had been no one capable of training skills in such a way. Even the ancient Luoluokaluos had no chance of growing a thunder dragon, so it left behind all of the dragon’s molted hide for research.

At the moment, Nailisi took something else from her bracelet. It was the clothing that she had stripped from the true body of the Divine Baby’s true body.

Specifically, it was a long dress, which was identical to the one that she had seen in the images that were left by the Goddess of Myers. Nailisi put the dress on and then consumed the last piece of thunder dragon hide.

Nailisi had initially consumed the hide of the level ten thunder dragon. This had earned her the Lightning Protection ability. However, she currently knew too little about the rules of lightning, and what little she knew was too superficial to be of much use.

The hide that she had consumed was from a level eight thunder dragon, which was advancing to level nine. Hence, this was something that had molted from a being in its mature stage, which was useful for perfecting the rules of lightning.

The divine fire burst out of Nailisi’s skin all of a sudden, recrafting the dress that she had just put on. That dress was also something that was mimicking the Goddess of Myers’ own garb by using the power of her followers.

At that moment, the power of faith was gone, as it was being tempered by the divine fire. At the same time, golden electricity jumped around Nailisi’s body surface, seeping into the dress.

That dress, which had been created using the power of faith, was then filled with countless lightning magic patterns within its layers. As the lightning magic patterns grew increasingly complete within the dress during the tempering process of the divine fire, the divine fire ceased being able to intrude into the dress and thus retreated back into Nailisi’s body.

Not only was that lightning equipment completed at that time, but Nailisi’s body itself was modified as well. Her imp form had been the weakest in terms of combat capacity, but now, with her muscles, bones, vessels, nerves, internal organs and other bodily fluids all being tempered by the divine fire and lightning, vague rumbles of thunder were heard when she breathed with her lower abdomen.

Saleen had toiled relentlessly while he was accumulating comprehension and knowledge, and it took him a long time before he was able to master lightning skills. However, Nailisi had gained such abilities simply by consuming the right kind of materials. Indeed, the bloodline of the Luoluokaluo was something that was hardly matched by other living beings!

Saleen still experienced limits upon his mental powers and stamina when he was using the Eye of Lightning, yet Nailisi had grown to be like the thunder dragon, able to meld the power of lightning almost effortlessly. With her soul restored, Nailisi took out some of the blue monsters’ bodies. She then took on her devil form in front of Saleen before devouring those monsters’ bodies.

Nicholas felt complicated emotions well up inside of him as he looked at the scene before him. He realized that he had worried too much in the past as he thought… Saleen is able to make even a demon like this, and here I am… Just a fallen holy master. Why the heck should I fear anything?

As her devil form had been thrashed by the Divine Baby until it was literally crippled, and only the upper body remained. So, Nailisi opened her mouth wide and gulped down over a dozen of those monster’s corpses.

A devil’s fangs were used for attacking instead of chewing food, as the stomach of a devil had a higher capacity for offensive skills than any other part of her body. As such, even a piece of pure steel would have been grinded down to steel dust when thrown into a devil’s stomach!

Nicholas saw Nailisi’s devil form growing its legs back after she ate more than a hundred of those monster’s corpses. Furthermore, her devil form continued to grow until it was about ten meters tall before stopping.

It was not so much that it was unable to grow any further, but the growth was halted because Nailisi felt that the original height of the devil, which measured over 20 meters tall, hardly gave it an edge in battle. In contrast, a height of about ten meters worked just fine, and the ratio between the three heads then neared perfection. Attacking targets that were at her feet with all four of her legs, while swinging weapons around, became far easier with this height as well.

After she had finished fixing her devil form, Nailisi returned to her human form once again. While the human form was weak, It had infinite potential for growth. For example, she was able to adopt all sorts of human skills when taking such a form.

She knew that it was impractical for her to learn magic, as a mage’s life was too dry and boring. Moreover, the requirement of studying and training for at least five to six hours a day, as well as spending even more time doing magic experiments and reading, would have bored her to death if she ever decided to become a mage!

Nailisi took the Divine Baby’s head and dug out one of its broken eyes, then consumed it. Instantly, the eyes of Nailisi’s human form crumbled. In the next instant, a new pair of green eyes were grown, both of which had green pupils.

Nailisi hesitated for a bit before eventually deciding to take the Divine Baby’s body out as well. She then tore out its heart and ate it. Nailisi then quickly transformed into her Three-faced Bone Demon form.

In Nailisi’s mind, that human form was of the utmost importance, as she was a human when taking such a form, making her a true person instead of some random demon. As she adopted this form, she thought… Perhaps Saleen might only truly like me when I’m in this form…

While she was in her human form, Nailisi planned on becoming an archer. However, it was important to note that archers were required to have superb eyesight, stable power, resilient qualities and an immutable mind.

Although it was easy for Nailisi to modify her body’s qualities, she did not want Saleen to see her stuffing all kinds of things into her mouth without regard, like a demon, especially when she was in her human form! This was especially true when the thing that she was eating was a dead body!

As such, when Nailisi was in her human form, she was careful to only use divine fire to purify the heart of the Divine Baby, then absorb it afterwards. This was because she was worried that Saleen would have found her disgusting if she did more than that.

In her spirit form, Nailisi would simply shatter her form using divine fire. As the fires raged, the spirit within her was gradually tempered into a skeleton.

As this was happening, Nailisi was thinking to herself… My master likes skeletons, after all!

After thinking this, she decided to become one herself, if only to snub that pile of bones…
