Saleen watched Eleanor walk further and further away. In the Purgatory of Darkness, she could not even see beyond a yard. Perhaps after using some elf techniques, her senses would broaden, but it was still ultimately meaningless. Eleanor had to increase her grade in order to be able to use the power of dark elements and for her senses not to be constrained in the Purgatory of Darkness.

The Purgatory of Darkness consisted of the six major elements along with dark elements, which explained why no light could enter the space. Even if Saleen used grade-8 water flame, the result would still be the same.

Saleen possessed the elemental eye, so wherever there were elements, he would be able to see a distance of one-hundred miles. It was as if Eleanor knew that Saleen was watching her. She continued walking and finally walked out of Saleen’s sight. The ground in the Purgatory of Darkness was not curved, so Saleen’s sight could stretch up to a true one-hundred miles.

Saleen did not dwell in the Purgatory of Darkness and decided to go to the Purgatory of Ice instead. Saleen had the ability to travel around the Twelve Notes of Purgatory as long as Nailisi allowed him to do so.

The Purgatory of Ice was full of water elements. Saleen’s water flame alchemy technique was unrelated to fire elements, so that was the perfect place for him to refine weapons.

The spear of the silver line golden spearfish was eight yards long. If it was made into a weapon for a human, it would be too thick.

Saleen tried to recall Nailisi in her imp form and estimate the length of her fingers before inserting the spear into the water flame. This weapon that Saleen was refining was for Nailisi. She was the only person that Saleen could trust. No matter what she might be up to, the moment Saleen was in real danger, she was still the first to sacrifice herself for him.

Saleen knew that mages should not have complex feelings, but over the years, as he slowly progressed to become a grade-8 sorcerer, he realized that mages did have feelings, but they would not reveal them to others easily.

His teacher was a good example. No one could tell if there was anything special about him, except that he was a very gentle sorcerer. In the beginning, even Saleen was not sure what kind of a person Jason was. Jason’s feelings were often buried under his spells. He was just a proper mage and outsiders would never be able to guess what he was feeling.

Any creature under grade-9 would be killed instantly if they even knocked slightly against the spear of the silver line golden spearfish. Saleen took out the skeleton of the spearfish and observed it with his elemental eye.

Indeed, the silver line golden spearfish could unleash even more incredible power when it encountered a formidable enemy. Its bones, muscles, and magic nucleus would all provide more power to the spear. The silver line golden spearfish did not even utilize such a technique when it was attacking Saleen.

That was when Saleen really felt fear. If the spearfish had really done that, perhaps even Nicholas’ Prophecy skill would have had no effects at all because what the spearfish would do was not a grade-9 technique.

When the silver line golden spearfish’s bones and spear were connected together, it was practically a simplified three-dimensional magic array. If it was complemented with the silver lines in the body, then it would become a complicated three-dimensional magic array. The magic nucleus would function as the motor for these magic arrays so that the spearfish could unleash continuous waves of attacks.

It was because the spearfish had such a deep understanding of its target’s power that it did not utilize such a technique against Saleen. The attack that it had unleashed should have been able to kill Saleen and Nailisi however, that attack was grade-9, so once it was broken off by the Prophecy technique, Saleen took the chance to use his Eye of Lightning; thus, changing the tide of the battle.

No wonder the mages often had the saying that “a giant dragon must do its best even if it is only killing a pig.”

Very often, that was how the outcomes of battles could change so suddenly. One would never be able to understand one’s opponent totally. If one let down his guard, things could change very quickly.

Saleen learned another important thing after looking at the bones of the silver line golden spearfish.

While the refining of the long lance was ongoing, Saleen realized that Nailisi’s build was approximately the same as him. An eight-yard long lance was too long for her, but the spear was too resilient, so it was too difficult for Saleen to try and refine it. Besides, if he compressed the material of the spear too much, it would lose the resilience attribute.

Saleen took out a dragonshard from his devil ring and threw it into the water flame. The long lance would require a massive amount of power from magic nuclei. Clearly, the silver line golden spearfish’s magic nuclei, which measured three yards in diameter, could not be refined into any weapons. On the other hand, the dragonshard of a giant dragon might seem small, but the power that it possessed far surpass the grade-9 magic nucleus of the silver line golden spearfish.

Saleen began to use water flame to refine the magic array in the spear. The magic array would emulate the entire skeleton of the spearfish and would provide a lot of power and speed. Nailisi already possessed the Power of the Giant Dragon, so with the help of the dragonshard, she would have enough power to wield the long lance. In terms of speed, Nailisi was definitely faster than the silver line golden spearfish when on land.

Saleen only used up one percent of his mental strength to refine the long lance. After he had advanced into a sorcerer, there was no change to his mental strength.

Saleen took out the skulls of the three white bear kings and refined them into three shields for Nailisi.

To a demon like Nailisi, who specialized in close combat, an excellent shield was of utmost importance. The skulls of the white bear kings were incredibly strong, and although they would not be able to defend against an attack by the silver line golden spearfish, they would definitely be able to block any grade-9 magic attacks.

What a pity. In his rush to refine a long lance that could match up against the single-horned white whale, Saleen did not study the body structure and internal organs of the silver line golden spearfish carefully enough. Its spear was simply too unique. Its material must have been the result of consuming some special minerals or magic beasts over the years, hence growing such a formidable spear.

The attacks of ordinary spearfish were already so powerful that even grade-9 creatures would avoid them. The silver line golden spearfish’s attacks were more than one-hundred times more powerful than an ordinary spearfish. It must possess some internal organs that could produce a particular type of material that could extract the special ingredient from its food and turn them into its unique spear.

Unfortunately, there was no time to study any further as Alchemy City and Cloudflow had targeted the Oceanic Ice Block. Saleen had to gain control of the Oceanic Ice Block or he would not have the power and wealth to fulfill the bond with the Goddess. The wealth of Sregl Island alone would not be sufficient.

Saleen single-mindedly wanted to refine a powerful weapon for Nailisi to make up for the lack of combat abilities she faced when fighting in her demon-form. On the pan’s turtle alchemical boat, the winged skeleton suddenly discovered a single-horned white whale within the range of Spirit Gaze. The Spirit Gaze would not trigger any reactions from creatures other than spirits of the dead. The three-hundred yard long single-horned white whale was too sensitive and immediately sensed the presence of the pan’s turtle alchemical boat though, which was more than ten miles away.

The single-horned white whale had excellent vision and was able to see the pan’s turtle alchemical boat even in the darkness. It was the overlord of the ocean and was still the most powerful creature around, even if its powers might have fallen to grade-9. Based on the outline of the object, it was able to determine that it was a pan’s turtle that was staring at it.

The gigantic single-horned white whale returned to the Oceanic Ice Block in order to hibernate in the cemetery. It would not allow any creature to chase or spy on it. Therefore, it charged towards the pan’s turtle alchemical boat without any hesitation.

Nailisi immediately entered the Twelve Notes of Purgatory and realized that Eleanor and Saleen were separated. Saleen was refining weapons alone in the Purgatory of Ice.

“Master! A single-horned white whale is about to attack the alchemy ship!” Nailisi appeared beside Saleen in the Purgatory of Ice.

“Let Soldier escape. Nailisi, you should leave.” Saleen was unmoved. Even if he went out, all he could do was depend on his clan badge to kill the single-horned white whale.

“Escape… but master, if the water puppet…”

“Don’t let him go. I will not give him the crystal ring.” Saleen replied curtly to Nailisi. The water puppet might succeed in sneaking up to the single-horned white whale and killing it, but based on the white whale’s defense, the water puppet would most likely have to sacrifice itself in order to do so.

Nailisi left without a word. She knew that Saleen would not allow the water puppet to sacrifice himself.

“Just escape it. Master is busy,” Nailisi said to the winged skeleton. She did not dare to amend Saleen’s order. That was entirely different from scheming against some of Saleen’s other subordinates. When facing a grade-9 magic beast, even Nailisi must be careful. If the ship was to sink, this entire search for the single-horned white whale’s grave would be a complete failure.

The winged skeleton did not say much either. He activated four bone spirits to carry Bloodstones to stand in the way of the white whale and the pan’s turtle alchemical boat. He had no hopes of the bloodstones being able to kill the white whale. Based on the latter’s defense abilities, the most that the bloodstones would do was to blow off some skin and fat. Not even the bones would be seen.

The size of the single-horned white whale might be huge, but it could swim up to one-hundred miles an hour underwater. If the pan’s turtle alchemical boat was to escape with everything it had, it might just be able to escape beyond the white whale’s attacking range. The terrifying part was that in the midst of its escape, the pan’s turtle alchemical boat might encounter other powerful enemies.

The pan’s turtle alchemical boat surfaced quickly. The entire ship was enclosed in a huge bubble and rose to the top instantaneously. All of a sudden, an antenna of several hundred yards in length sprung down from a rock and coiled up around the pan’s turtle alchemical boat.

The winged skull immediately exited the alchemy ship and headed towards the weapons of the ship. The winged skeleton hacked viciously at the antenna with a giant axe. The blade flashed with a golden glow. The antenna, which was more than two yards thick, was hacked off by the golden glow on the blade of the axe and fresh blue blood spurted out.

Soldier’s heart was full of hatred. He took a skeletal thorn and pierced it into the wound of the antenna. The Spirit Toxin in the skeletal thorn would slowly turn the magic beast into a spirit of the dead.

The short interference by the antenna was enough for the single-horned white whale to dash past the defense of the four bone spirits and come within a mile of the pan’s turtle alchemical boat. The explosion of the four bloodstones failed to injure the single-horned white whale at all. Purple light flashed across its eyes as it stared at the pan’s turtle alchemical boat. On its gigantic horn, water elements were being gathered very quickly with a blue glow.
