Chapter 1122: Farewell, Head Inquisitor (Part 2)

Saleen was able to tell right away that the incoming person was the third head inquisitor. The red energy wings behind the bald man’s back were definitely the Wings of Heaven.

When Saleen caught sight of the third head inquisitor, the third head inquisitor saw Saleen. He had God Sight. It was an ability bestowed by their god after his bloodline was awakened. For that reason, the great head inquisitor had bestowed the Wings of Heaven to him.

His God Sight was able to see tens of miles away when used in conjunction with the Wings of Heaven. Such early detection abilities allowed him to keep his place as third head inquisitor.

The three newly appointed head inquisitors were nothing in comparison.

Saleen tracked the third head inquisitor’s trajectory and knew that there was no way he could get a clear shot. Saleen simply fired a lightning icicle, which flew over ten miles in an instant, hitting the third head inquisitor.

Saleen was surprised, and the third head inquisitor was even more so.

What Saleen had found surprising that his lightning icicle was able to penetrate the third head inquisitor’s body right away, seeping into the fiery wings of energy. What the third head inquisitor was surprised about was that his Wings of Heaven were unable to completely negate the damage he had taken.

He felt intense pain in his lower abdomen, and it took three divine healing spells to clear out the damage wreaked by that icicle. The icicle was eerie. Even though the damage was healed, the pain remained.

What alerted the third head inquisitor further was that the icicle was swallowed up by the Wings of Heaven, but it did not get converted into holy powers. The attack drained quite a bit of power from the Wings of Heaven instead, before completely destroyed the icicle.

Level ten professional!

Both Saleen and the third head inquisitor came to the conclusion, but they still headed towards each other. Saleen had a limited number of lightning icicles. They were too far for a lightning icicle to outright kill a holy master.

The third inquisitor had no means of harming Saleen from more than ten miles away, unless Saleen was below level seven.

There were several powerful people at the third head inquisitor’s side, and they were all warned by the great head inquisitor. The third head inquisitor dared not let his guard down. Nailisi took her devil form beside Saleen, while Sika followed closely behind with her staff in hand.

Nicholas joined Jola in his fight, helping him as quickly as he was able to, killing the young holy masters. Nicholas hailed from the Holy See and knew what the holy masters were capable of.

If they were of adequate numbers and the third head inquisitor was able to stall Saleen and the others, the low level holy masters would be able to cast a large scale divine spell, which was powerful enough to threaten a level ten professional.

Emperor Chanake, who was more powerful than Joey back then, was killed by the Holy See because of such maneuvers.

Nicholas intended to take out all the holy masters who were above level seven and capable of flight before the third head inquisitor got near enough to prevent them from being surrounded.

Eleanor summoned her Wings of an Elf, helping to clear warriors from the Tribunal on the ground. There were also holy masters on the ground. At the Skywell, the third head inquisitor brought a huge number of people, there to lay out a huge divine rune charm array.

However, Sika had uprooted the ancient tree and collapsed the space. Saleen and the others were able to make it out in time, thus ruining the third head inquisitor’s plan. Such was fate indeed.

Under normal circumstances, he might have emerged later and the enemy would have finished laying out the divine rune charm array, shrouding the entire Skywell under their divine spell territory.

While he no longer feared the powers of such territories, the same could not be said for those around him. Furthermore, even if his powers remained intact when he was caught, the enemy’s powers would grow by leaps and bounds.

In short, he would get the short end of the stick.

Both sides were covering the miles of distance between them. The third head inquisitor got two items ready: a scroll and a codex. A level ten professional would long be able to use such equipment with one hand. A level nine one would be able to barely do so, but control was not as easy.

Saleen took Sika and Nailisi with him, increasing the area covered by his mist. He held a magic staff—one that he had just finished crafting, which contained three level ten spells.

Saleen was unable to learn enough level ten magic spells, as he had just advanced and needed to focus on steadying his level and state. He had no time to perfect any skills learned at level ten.

Only Saleen, who possessed incredibly massive wealth, would dare to waste god’s mulberry and ghost oak to craft one magic staff.

If the two materials were used separately and the finished products needed to only store two spells each, five magic staffs would yield the same amount of materials.

However, if he ran into enemies like head inquisitors in combat, there was no time for him to switch magic staffs.

Sika threw a javelin when Saleen’s party was less than a mile away from their enemy. Sika had three more in her hand.

She already saw six beside the head inquisitor, and every one of them was a level nine powerful one. Furthermore, all six of them wore armor that resembled the Heaven Knight armor, but of better make.

If the power of all six of them could be stacked, the group would be on par with a level ten professional.

Some were flying in their direction further away. Every one of them had prepared divine spell scrolls in their hands. The third head inquisitor’s prophecy spell had failed and Saleen showed up early.

The holy masters changed their attack, deciding to use scrolls to take care of the enemy before them instead.

Sika knew Saleen’s thoughts. The triangular bone piece hovered behind her, ready to strike at any time. When they were about 200 meters away from each other, Sika threw another javelin.

The third head inquisitor unraveled a scroll. Holy light shot to the heavens within a mile radius. Holy light showered from above, calling the third head inquisitor.

The third head inquisitor had used a prayer scroll, allowing the light of God to penetrate through their plane and reach above the Skywell. However, things did not happen the way the third head inquisitor’s expected.

All three javelins that Sika threw were almost entirely unaffected. When the holy light flashed, all six knights behind him seemed to be within the area of the javelins’ control.

Sika might have only been level nine, but her javelins had all been crafted by Saleen. All of them were covered with lightning patterns, negating most of the effects of the territory had on them.

A level nine warrior could not compare to Sika’s power either. A vacuum tunnel formed behind the three javelins.

There were over a dozen unassuming holy masters behind the six knights. White light burst from the holy masters, covering the knights. The knights became very nimble, forming a triangle, and the one taking the lead actually swiped Sika’s javelin away with their lance.

Saleen’s senses caught such an outcome early and his mind was at ease. The ice spike before him accelerated all of a sudden, rushing at the third head inquisitor.

All six knights seemed to shriek at the same time. It was near impossible to have Glory Knights shriek like that.

Sika had simply thrown a physical attack at them and the lightning patterns on the javelins, merely decorative magic patterns meant for negating buffs, prevented them from being robbed of their flight abilities in special environments.

All three javelins were deflected by the knights’ lances, yet they as if a dragon had stepped on them. Furthermore, it seemed to be a dragon with over a dozen legs.

Blood burst from all six knights. The triangular bone piece behind Sika screeched and came for them, zipping around the knights.

The magic beast soul within the triangular bone piece had matured within the past hundred years in the temple, and the weapon no longer resembled a boomerang.

The third head inquisitor knew the tables had turned. The enemy’s power was ten times stronger than what was described by the great head inquisitor.

Things would not be so dire if the third head inquisitor was amply prepared, but with all six powerful knights taken out as soon as they showed, he had only the auxiliary holy masters behind him.

Even if his powers grew several times more potent, he still would not be a match for three level ten professionals.

The third head inquisitor thought Sika was a level ten professional, yet Sika was just ridiculously strong. She was still level nine.

Saleen saw the panic in the third head inquisitor’s eyes and felt pleased at the turn of events. The Holy See had backed him into a corner before.

Even if he had advanced to level ten, he dared not let his followers him leave his side. Saleen knew that he was still not a match for the great head inquisitor.

Saleen’s ice spike was about to disintegrate. It flew in front of the third head inquisitor, who dared not counter it with prophecy spells. His prophecy spell had failed him once, because Saleen had emerged from the space tunnel.

“God Advent!” The third head inquisitor shouted at the codex in his hand. An illusion of an oracle appeared from within the codex. However, Saleen’s ice spike hit it without waiting for the oracle to do anything.

The powerful impact shattered the oracle’s illusion. The ice spike changed course and shot into the third head inquisitor’s Wings of Heaven.

Saleen had only just advanced to level ten and was brimming with power. He did not care about the results the maneuver would yield. Thick ice covered the surface of his body, making him look like a statue. He pointed forward and his speed grew over a dozen times in an instant.

The concept of his speed increasing for over a dozen times meant that if Saleen’s body was covered with hard elemental ice, his flesh would probably combust from friction with the air.

Saleen rammed at the third head inquisitor. He accelerated over the distance of 200 meters. The third inquisitor was incapable of reacting in time. Saleen burst through the layers of light screens in front of the third head inquisitor. The layer of ice on his body was completely shattered.

“Farewell, head inquisitor.” Saleen smirked and pointed a finger at the third head inquisitor’s head.

Saleen drew power from his elemental badges and cranked the power of the Crystal Finger to the limit. The third head inquisitor never anticipated that a mage would face him up close and personal like a warrior.

The third head inquisitor’s head burst into a mist of blood. The Crystal Finger’s power diminished extremely quickly.

None of the holy masters were affected. Saleen thought, you holy masters might not have feared getting your hearts puncture, but let’s see how you people survive with your heads busted.

The third head inquisitor leaned backwards. Saleen saw the blood from the third head inquisitor’s neck wrap a wisp of energy and take off. Saleen cast the three spells in his magic staff: Endless Night, Water Shield and Thunder Shock.

All three spells were prepared by Saleen to specifically deal with escaping souls of holy masters. The ball of blood was covered by Endless Night and lost its way, ramming straight into Water Shield, and then Thunder Shock was triggered.
