Back to the 80s: Raising my Wolfy Boyfriend

Chapter 1193 Hope Brings Him Pain

  • Next Chapter

Gu Jin held the disheveled An Mingji in her arms, walked a distance, and slowly stopped.

Wanhai was both familiar and strange to her, yet she couldn’t find a place to reside.

Where could she take little An?

Gu Jin clenched her fist gently around An Mingji’s hand.

An Mingji, in her embrace, looked back at the wooden boards abandoned by the roadside, his eyes showing a complex reluctance.

How would he move without the boards in the future?

With his legs disabled, he could only crawl on the ground.

Crawling until his arms were scraped and bleeding, day after day, the wounds would get infected, causing blood to flow incessantly.

Once he crawled on all fours, his body was covered in blood, nearly dying from infection.

He didn’t want to endure those pains again, it hurt too much.

The woman holding him didn’t know where to take him.

He dared not speak, asking her to retrieve the wooden boards.

The man she had kicked away before made him realize how terrifying this woman was.

Gu Jin stood bewildered on the street, unaware of An Mingji’s insistence on the wooden boards behind.

Standing in place for a while, she walked to the roadside and hailed a car.

It was a van taxi with a yellow sign on top.

The car stopped, and Gu Jin boarded with An Mingji.

"What’s that smell?" The driver wrinkled his nose in disgust, glancing back at Gu Jin and An Mingji.

Gu Jin said, "Driver, go to Haijiang Hotel."

Upon hearing this, the driver stopped his words of chasing them out.

He asked suspiciously, "Haijiang Hotel?"

It was no wonder he was so skeptical; Haijiang Hotel was very famous in Wanhai City, a place where only the wealthy and influential had access.

"Yes!" Gu Jin squinted, her dark eyes fixed on the driver.

The disdain in his eyes was crystal clear to her.

How dare he despise her little An, not knowing it was her life.

The driver met Gu Jin’s grim gaze, feeling a tremor in his heart, quickly turned back, and drove straight to Haijiang Hotel.

Gu Jin sat in the back seat holding An Mingji, looking down tenderly at the person in her arms.

"Little An, do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"

An Mingji’s face was somber, meeting Gu Jin’s concerned expression, he carefully averted his gaze.

He shook his head lightly, without speaking.

He had no idea what would happen next, nor did he expect anything.

Having gone through hope again and again, only to be cast down into dust, he had experienced too much of this.

Hope was always a source of pain for him; he didn’t need it!

Gu Jin could sense his silent resistance, which made her more heartbroken and saddened.

She touched An Mingji’s dry, yellow hair, asked hoarsely, "How old are you this year?"

An Mingji’s response was still a shake of the head.

Without an answer, Gu Jin continued to ask gently, "Are you hungry?"

This time, An Mingji did not shake his head, but he also did not speak.

He just nestled in Gu Jin’s arms, silent and motionless.

The silent An Mingji was surrounded by a thick sense of exclusion.

Gu Jin stopped questioning him, her slender white fingers combing through his matted hair.

Occasionally, she could pull out some dirt from his hair.

Gu Jin’s tears welled up again.

How had her little An become so disheveled, so humiliated?

She couldn’t bear to imagine what inhumane treatment he had suffered, knowing each thought was like stabbing her heart with a knife.

Under Gu Jin’s cautious touch, An Mingji’s tense body slightly relaxed.
