Chapter 754 - 784: Lipstick in the Car

The days were a blur of activity, and before she knew it, night had fallen.

For several days in a row, Qin Jiao had been so busy that she’d asked her mother to pick up the kids.

Sometimes, when Shen Yi wasn’t too busy, he would come pick her up from work. Other times, if it was too late, Qin Jiao would just go home by herself.

Today, Shen Yi was swamped, but he still drove to Jiu Yi first. He planned to take Qin Jiao home before heading back to the office.

He had to work overtime to oversee the launch of a new system, which included a stress test at midnight.

Tonight, Shen Yi and the lead developers would be pulling an all-nighter.

Even as a big boss with a considerable net worth, Shen Yi always followed up on every matter diligently in the early stages, making sure to be personally involved.

This earned him a great deal of admiration from his employees.

On top of that, he was exceptionally devoted to his wife and children. Over the years, it wasn’t as if no women had tried to get some ideas and climb the ladder.

A man who was young, handsome, wealthy, and genuinely skilled. And most importantly, he was a devoted family man who doted on his wife.

Every single one of these points was a major plus in his favor.

So, naturally, many women still threw themselves at him, one after another.

When Shen Yi arrived, Qin Jiao came downstairs. As soon as she sat in the passenger seat, her nose twitched.

"This perfume is nice. It smells like that new ’man-killer’ scent that’s all the rage."

Shen Yi looked bewildered. "Is there? No one else has been in my car besides you."

Shen Yi was wearing a plaid shirt under a down jacket. His hair was a bit messy, and there was stubble on his chin.

The man had been genuinely busy lately, too busy to even shave.

But he had good bone structure to begin with, and now that he was a few years older, he had an even more masculine charm.

Qin Jiao said, "Think again. This is definitely a woman’s perfume. Oh, and look, there’s a lipstick here too."

It was sitting right there on the passenger’s side.

’Heh.’

Shen Yi racked his brain, and then it suddenly dawned on him. "Oh, I had an assistant come to my car to get some files this afternoon. A female one. What was her name again?"

Qin Jiao was speechless.

Seeing that Shen Yi’s expression didn’t seem fake, Qin Jiao sighed. "She’s already got her sights set on you, trying to make a move, and you can’t even remember her name?"

Shen Yi quickly said, "Jiao Jiao, I honestly had no idea she did all this. Don’t worry. Since she has these kinds of devious intentions, I’ll fire her as soon as I get back."

Because it was a tech company, Shen Yi’s office had always had far more men than women.

This particular assistant was a recent hire. Shen Yi’s previous assistant had an elderly family member fall ill, so Shen Yi had given him leave to go home.

Qin Jiao wasn’t one for dramatics. Someone coveting her husband? If you don’t fire them, what are you going to do, keep them around for the holidays?

But then she said, "Actually, I’m free. I’ll go to your company with you."

"Okay."

Shen Yi didn’t ask what Qin Jiao planned to do. No matter what his wife did, his job was to support her, plain and simple.

After the two arrived at Jiuyi’s North City branch, Shen Yi finally remembered the assistant’s name. As it happened, people were still at the office, so Shen Yi had HR inform the female assistant that she didn’t need to come in tomorrow.

The HR manager was a veteran employee and immediately understood what was going on.

She said, "Alright, I’ll take care of it right away."

Qin Jiao said, "Wait. Give this lipstick to her; it’s hers. As for this other one, it’s a gift from me. A friend brought it back from abroad—it’s new. Tell her to use good lipstick to protect her lips. Bad lipstick damages the skin."

The HR manager had been speculating, but seeing Qin Jiao’s smiling face, how could she not understand everything?

She had to admit, the boss’s wife was truly a smart and formidable person.

On top of that, she was beautiful and capable.

She nodded immediately, took the lipsticks, and left.
