"If they already escaped the law and have new identities, why would they come back?" Meng Lanlan suddenly recalled what Qin Jiao had said at the very beginning and asked nervously, "Is Lin Nian trying to take Little Xingxing away?"

Qin Jiao shook her head. "Lin Nian has no feelings for Little Xingxing whatsoever. You might not know this, but not long after Lin Nian gave birth to her, she landed Little Xingxing in the hospital. It was a close call; if they hadn’t saved her in time, the child might have died."

Meng Lanlan nodded. "I know about that. I happened to take Little Xingxing to that same hospital once, and a doctor told me about it. Lin Nian... she just doesn’t know how to take care of a child."

"It’s not that she doesn’t know how to take care of a child, she’s just selfish and only thinks about herself. Back then, her mother-in-law, Li Xiaomei, resented her for having a daughter instead of a son and didn’t treat her well, so she took her anger out on the child." Qin Jiao felt a sense of shock herself as she recalled what she had overheard that day.

As a mother herself, she found it even more incomprehensible.

Meng Lanlan wasn’t one for cursing, but she was so furious her face turned beet red.

She had actually stopped hating them when she thought they were dead. After all, what was the point of hating people who were gone?
