Chapter 643 - 673: Uninvited Guests

It was only when Qin Jiao saw the two of them that she remembered what Shen Zhengfeng had mentioned yesterday.

It seemed Shen Zhengfeng must be looking for Shen Yi about something important; otherwise, he wouldn’t be so persistent.

But that "important matter" was probably not a good thing for her and Shen Yi.

For a moment, Qin Jiao didn’t let them in. She just sneezed and rubbed her nose.

Although Li Xiaomei despised Qin Jiao, she put on a look of great concern. "Oh dear, you’re not wearing enough. Hurry back inside and put on more clothes. You’re pregnant now, you can’t afford to catch a cold."

As she spoke, she pushed her way inside with the things she was carrying.

Qin Jiao couldn’t stop both of them by herself. Seeing that they had squeezed their way in, she got out some disposable slippers for them.

It was laughable, really. This was Shen Zhengfeng’s first time visiting Shen Yi’s home.

He glanced around, his brow furrowed slightly. He felt that for such a large house, the decor was a complete mess.

’Shouldn’t a living room have an expensive sofa and coffee table for entertaining guests?’

As he was thinking this, he blurted out, "You don’t have a living room?"

There were armchairs, and they were quite comfortable, but they were standalone pieces, not a traditional sofa set with a chaise lounge.

Qin Jiao gave a faint smile. "We don’t usually have guests. Sorry."

The corner of Shen Zhengfeng’s mouth twitched. He felt there was something off about her words, but she was heavily pregnant and smiling as she spoke. Remembering that he was here to ask for Shen Yi’s help, he didn’t say anything more.

Li Xiaomei, however, was looking all around. She saw that the items on the bookshelf weren’t antiques, but ordinary stuffed animals. She let out a cold snort.

’Looks like this Qin Jiao has money but doesn’t know how to spend it.’

Qin Jiao cut right to the chase. "Are you here for Shen Yi? Unfortunately, he’s not home."

She yawned as she spoke, looking thoroughly languid.

Shen Zhengfeng and Li Xiaomei sat there awkwardly, without even a sip of water to drink. It was clear that Qin Jiao was trying to get them to leave, but they had no intention of going.

They couldn’t find Shen Yi anywhere else. This was the only place—his home.

Shen Zhengfeng spoke up directly. "That’s fine. We don’t have anything else to do, so we’ll just wait for him here."

"Right, right! And you know, this is my first time here. Your little place is decorated so cozily. Mind if I have a look around?"

Qin Jiao was overcome with the unique frustration of having unwelcome relatives who insist on snooping around every corner of your house.

’How can this woman be so thick-skinned?’

’Showing up at the door is one thing; I get that they probably need to ask Shen Yi for something. But can’t they just sit there quietly and behave?’

Qin Jiao smiled and nodded. "Of course you can. However, Aunt Li, Shen Yi and I aren’t very good at tidying up. We tend to leave things all over the place—watches, rings, things like that. Ah, so please don’t be alarmed if you happen to see them."

Li Xiaomei: "..."

’Is she calling me out? If something goes missing later, she’s going to blame me for stealing it, isn’t she?!’

’This Qin Jiao is just as detestable as ever!’

Although Li Xiaomei was fuming internally, she ultimately didn’t dare go inside to snoop around. In the end, seeing that Qin Jiao had no intention of getting them a drink, she went over to the water dispenser and poured a glass for herself.

Meanwhile, Shen Zhengfeng said, "Xiao Jiao, why don’t you give Xiao Yi a call and hurry him along?"

Seeing they intended to plant themselves there, Qin Jiao had no choice but to call Shen Yi. "Shen Yi, are you done with things at the company?"
