Chapter 431: Meeting the Church Duo
The next morning, Takumi woke up to another notice that school had been canceled.
Apparently, fragments from a meteorite had struck the school athletic field, leaving behind a large number of craters.
At the same time, the “crater” Takumi had created when he blasted Vali, the White Dragon Emperor, into the mountains had also been explained away as a meteor impact.
“At this rate, Kuoh Town is going to start getting hit by meteorites every few days.”
Watching the morning news on television, Takumi couldn’t help but laugh.
Yuki Suou, who had come over early that morning, immediately threw herself onto his back.
“So it really was you, Onii-chan.”
“Uu~~ We got another day off today. I was planning to give you a surprise too.”
That immediately caught Takumi’s interest.
“A surprise? Come on, give me a hint.”
“Bunny girl? Catgirl outfit?”
“Not that kind of surprise! Onii-chan, all you think about these days are indecent things.”
Yuki puffed out her cheeks and gave Takumi an annoyed glare.
Takumi, however, remained completely unfazed, without the slightest hint of embarrassment.
He immediately shot back, “Aren’t those exactly the kinds of surprises you usually prepare for me?”
“…”
Yuki covered her forehead and fell completely silent.
Feeling a little guilty, she turned her head away and changed the subject.
“Onii-chan, weren’t you planning to open an agency in the supernatural world recently?”
“I mentioned it to Mom. She said she could talk it over with you and help fund it.”
“Oh~ Is that so? I was originally planning to go straight to the Yukinoshita family.”
“If your family is willing to invest too, I’ll just combine everything on my end.”
Takumi muttered thoughtfully, only for Yuki to let out a startled cry.
“The Yukinoshita family? Since when did you get involved with them, Onii-chan?”
“I’ve heard that the head of their family, Kirino Yukinoshita, is extremely decisive and ruthless when handling things.”
“I don’t know much about her older daughter, Haruno Yukinoshita, but Yukino Yukinoshita is from our school… Wait.”
Yuki suddenly narrowed her eyes.
“Don’t tell me you secretly used your wicked methods to get your hands on both mother and daughters already!”
“Ah~~ If that’s true, then wouldn’t my mom also be…”
Yuki deliberately cried out in exaggerated shock.
She was mainly teasing Takumi, deliberately making her speculation as outrageous as possible, but after she finished saying all that, what answered her wasn’t Takumi’s denial.
It was his deafening silence.
Takumi stared at Yuki with a complicated expression, genuinely unable to understand.
How did she actually guess it?!
Instantly reading the meaning in his eyes, Yuki froze on the spot.
“Hey~! Something’s wrong here. I was just making things up!”
“Don’t tell me I actually guessed right?!”
“Hahaha~ Of course not. Nothing like that happened.”
Takumi laughed awkwardly and quietly turned his head away.
Just as Yuki was about to press him further, a phone began ringing and interrupted her.
My luck is incredible!!
Takumi shouted inwardly before immediately shooting Yuki a look and answering the call.
“Takumi, it’s us.”
Genovia’s voice came through the phone.
She sounded extremely tired, as if she hadn’t slept at all the previous night.
“Genovia, Irina, what’s up?”
The unusually cheerful tone in Takumi’s voice made both Genovia and Irina pause in confusion on the other end.
He sounded much friendlier than before.
Am I imagining it?
Neither of them thought too much about it.
Genovia simply replied, “We want to talk to you. At the café in Toma Shopping District.”
“I’m starting to think you two have some strange obsession. Why does every conversation have to happen at a café…?”
Hearing the familiar location, Takumi muttered under his breath.
“What? Is there something wrong with meeting at a café?”
“No, nothing. I was just commenting on it.”
Hearing the confusion in Genovia’s voice, Takumi immediately ended the call.
He then patted Yuki on the head and smiled.
“All right. Your Onii-chan has something to take care of.”
“As for talking to your mom about investing in the agency, I’m fine with it. Set something up later.”
“I’m heading out!”
With that, Takumi darted out of the house, giving Yuki no chance to say another word.
Watching him disappear into the distance, Yuki stomped her foot.
“We still haven’t finished talking about the Yukinoshita family.”
Did something really happen?
Yuki remembered very clearly that Yukino Yukinoshita had also been absent from school yesterday.
She hadn’t paid any attention to it at the time, but now that she thought about it, the timing was far too coincidental!
Feeling increasingly suspicious, she looked over at Mio and Maria, who were sprawled out nearby.
“Why do you two have no fighting spirit at all right now?”
“What happened to all that jealousy you had before?”
“…”
Mio and Maria gave her speechless looks.
After getting worn out all night, what fighting spirit were they supposed to have left?
Yuki had only been away from home the previous night, so of course she was energetic enough today to worry about all these random things.
Even Tohru, practically an expert when it came to jealousy, had flopped down like a dead fish after finishing breakfast.
Now she had personally experienced the transcendent detachment brought about by “post-nut clarity.”
It felt as though nothing in the world was worth caring about anymore.
As for Asia…
The poor nun still hadn’t woken up because her physical constitution was weaker than the others’.
“I think instead of worrying about the Yukinoshita situation, we should be more concerned about how Takumi-nii’s stamina keeps getting better lately.”
“Seriously. I’ve been training so hard, but why does it feel like I’m not improving at all?”
As Maria and Mio continued chatting, their conversation gradually drifted farther and farther off topic.
Looking at the two hopeless girls, Yuki no longer knew what to say.
Meanwhile, after leaving the house, Takumi soon arrived at the café in Toma Shopping District and met up with Genovia and the others.
Unexpectedly, Rias was there too.
“Takumi, over here~~”
Seeing him arrive, Rias raised a hand to call him over.
After he sat down, she immediately ordered him a sweetened café au lait.
Once that was done, Rias naturally took control of the conversation and gestured toward Genovia and Irina sitting across from them.
“Takumi, you should already know about Genovia and Irina’s situation, right?”
“No.”
Takumi’s crisp answer caught Rias off guard.
He looked at her speechlessly.
“Why are you so surprised? This only happened yesterday, and now you expect me to already know the whole story today?”
“You didn’t tell me anything, so how was I supposed to know?”
“Stop talking in riddles and get to the point. We didn’t come out here just to chat, did we?”
In truth, Takumi had plenty of ways to find out if he really wanted to.
He simply hadn’t bothered.
With Takumi putting it that way, Rias went straight to the point.
“Actually, this is mainly about the two of them. I’m just wondering if I can benefit from the situation too.”
“You already know I don’t have enough devil servants.”
“This incident also made me realize that I need to increase my own strength as soon as possible and complete my peerage.”
“I want Genovia and Irina to become my Knights.”
