Chapter 128 - Direct Confrontation! | 128

In this opening, there were six people confronting each other. All of them wore the same uniforms, except the fact that two of them had the letter A on their chest while the remaining four had C.

'This is troublesome,' Song Lei thought. Even if he were to join the fight, they would still be at a numbers disadvantage. 'Should I escape?' He considered. After all, he could leave this place, go find another confrontation that was easier, finish it quickly and bring reinforcements here.

Thinking that this was the best course of action, Song Lei took a step back.

*Crack!

"Shit..." Song Lei muttered after stepping on a branch. Everyone was silently inspecting each other's moves, so the little sound he made was audible to all of them.

"Oh! Isn't that Star Lewis? Come help us please!" One of the Section A members said. These last few months, all the viewers of the arena had been calling him Star Lewis. If he were to be honest, it was one of the stupidest nicknames he had heard. Unfortunately, it wasn't easy to change such things once they had found their places in people's minds. Seeing that he couldn't escape anymore, Song Lei facepalmed and came out of the bushes.

"Hah! No matter who you bring, you will not be able to beat us!" One of the Section C trainees said. However, Section A members' confidence was already back. They knew and believed in Song Lei a lot. They felt like he would be able to beat all four section C trainees all by himself.

Looking at his Section mate's sparkling eyes, Song Lei's frown got even deeper as if he had understood what they were thinking about. Collecting himself, Song Lei walked to the side of his section mates.

"You guys should confront one enemy each. I will deal with the other two," Song Lei said. His two section-mates nodded at him. By doing this, he was putting himself in grave danger. After all, he was just a normal person. No matter how strong he was, it wasn't easy to beat two professional fighters working together. Unfortunately, he didn't have any other choices.

He currently didn't know what was going on. What would happen if he were to lose? Would he get killed? That didn't seem plausible to him as he didn't think the orphanage would let such a thing happen. Would he get carried back to his room? Did the other sections have the same case of soul worm infestation? Although these questions held his mind hostage, none of them had any answers. So he discarded them and focused on the current situation.

The four Section C members didn't seem particularly strong as they all had average body shapes, however, their demeanor and facial expressions were that of a predator's. At least that was the case before Song Lei appeared. When Song Lei came out of the bushes, all four Section C members took defensive stances as they felt that he was very dangerous.

Seeing their hesitant behavior, Song Lei smiled widely.

'I guess all those points in soul are working out huh...' He thought. One of soul stat's properties was that it could help him intimidate people with weaker souls. 'Maybe if I try hard enough, I can shoo them away...'

Thinking that he could scare his opponents away, Song Lei started walking towards them menacingly. Seeing Song Lei approach them slowly, they all became even more careful. Unfortunately, even though he walked until there were three meters left between them, none of them showed signs of running away.

'So I really need to fight them huh...' Song Lei thought. Fortunately, he had two allies that could help him out in the current situation.

After waiting for half a minute in the same place, Song Lei took another step. This step was the one that broke the status quo as both sides launched towards each other at the same time. Seeing that none of the sides took out guns or knives, Song Lei relaxed. It didn't seem like their objective was to kill each other.

As his two mates charged from the sides, they were intercepted by two of the enemies. They pulled those enemies away so they could create some space for Song Lei to fight however he wanted.

It was good that Song Lei could fight an isolated two versus one against these people, however, he was still at a disadvantage. He was currently in a spacious place and he had to fight two people at the same time. They could just separate and attack at the same time. If one was to attack from the front while the other assaulted Song Lei from behind, he would have little to no chance to fight back.

However, his enemies didn't seem to be able to think of this. For some reason, their senses were like they were clouded. Their anger and primal fighting instincts were the ones holding the reins.

'Is this why they have a whole section just for this kind of people? They don't seem to be as professional as I thought...' Song Lei thought. He took a boxing stance and raised his senses to the highest. His enemies were currently in a crazed state. So he could easily guess what they were doing. All of their moves were very wide and open as if they were made for Song Lei to see them.

Seeing his enemies approaching while throwing two separate fists, Song Lei weaved between their fists and stepped forward. Usually, this was the best way to mess up newbie fighters quickly. They would be too caught up in their own attacks and would forget that their enemies could also counterattack them. And when they were in such a close range, they wouldn't know what to do and their whole defenses would collapse.

Weirdly, this was not the case for these Section C trainees. They were able to perfectly respond as one of them quickly pulled his fist back and jumped backward while the other tried to grasp Song Lei and threw him over his shoulder. Unfortunately for them, it wasn't easy to do such a thing to Song Lei.

Turning his body slightly, Song Lei managed to dodge the trainee's grasp and slightly hold his leg out. This lead the section B trainee to fall over his own face. Seeing his friend's situation, the other trainee came rushing towards Song Lei.

'What the fuck..?' Song Lei thought. He dodged the trainee's attack and strode backward. For some reason, the trainee who had just attacked him had completely red eyes. It wasn't that his eyes were bloodshot, his eyes were totally red like two puddles of blood. 'Oh great... These people are monsters too...'

As Song Lei kept weaving around, he realized that his enemy was getting more and more ferocious. Weirdly, these people didn't seem like they were affected by the sun. On the contrary, soul worms would go into a passive state during the day and would become active again during the night.

'There's something different about them!'

Song Lei turned around and looked at the state of his section mates. Compared to him, they didn't seem to be faring well. Something was boosting their enemies' physical parameters at the cost of their rationality. He was adept enough at martial arts that he could utilize their lack of rationality, however, the same couldn't be said for his section members.

'I have to finish this quickly and go help them. Or else, I'll get overrun!' Song Lei thought. If he were left four versus one, he would instantly lose without any chances of winning. And since these people were in a crazed state, he didn't know what they would do to him.

Seeing that he didn't have any time left, Song Lei went all out and focused all of his senses. He dodged another punch, stepped back, and threw a roundhouse kick right onto his opponent's chin. It was so fast that the trainee from section C couldn't even react. He instantly lose his consciousness and collapsed to the ground.

After that, Song Lei ducked and dodged another punch that was coming from behind. He had fortunately managed to pick up the footsteps of his other opponent. After dodging the attack by ducking, Song Lei didn't even turn his head and sent a quick elbow strike behind him. He had memorized the height of his opponent, so he knew where it would land.

As Song Lei's elbow strike connected, his opponent's face became ghastly pale. He fell to the ground and started rolling around in agony. Song Lei decided that this was enough suffering for him and sent the trainee right into the dreamland with a quick jab to his chin.

As soon as he was finished, he didn't waste another second and went to help one of his section mates. Fortunately, he managed to reach him in time and help him finish out his opponent. Their other section member also managed to beat his opponent somehow as they all came out victorious in their fights....
