Atticus’s Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground

Chapter 1442 Cira

Chapter 1442  Cira

“Wow! You look… amazing.”

“…Thanks.”

Caldor fixed his eyes on Nira. She’d dressed casually, wearing a crop top and cargo pants. Yet, Caldor found it stunning. It was a far cry from the military uniform she always wore.

A moment of silence settled between them.

‘Shit, looks like I’m not getting any compliments.’

“Em—”

“…You look good.” Nira adjusted her glasses, avoiding his shocked look.

He hadn’t been expecting that.

“Ah, thanks. It was just something I threw on, haha.”

He scratched his head and awkwardly gestured down the hall.

“Shall we?”

“Okay.”

They’d agreed to meet in the kitchen to make finding each other easier. The date was a simple one, just a tour around the coliseum.

As they all left Caldor’s room, Aurora excused herself and headed for her room a hall away. As she turned, she caught sight of Zoey leaving her room and walking away.

‘Where is she going again?’

Last night’s scene played in her mind, and with a cold gaze, she decided to follow.

‘Let’s see if that bastard will show.’

“She’s acting out of schedule?”

Lyanna turned to her assistant, who instantly nodded.

“Yes, mistress. She’s always home at this time, but we just confirmed she left.”

Lyanna frowned and stood from her office chair. After her ‘meeting’ with the last spy, Dane, she’d doubled down on finding out more information on the next target.

‘Cira Noxwell.’

According to reports, she was a century-plus-old Vampyros who, for reasons Lyanna hadn’t been able to grasp, had made it to the position of council member.

‘This is what being a pussy gets you.’

She knew the current state of Novareth. Because the dominion pillar was trying to promote peace and unity amongst the different races, they decided to promote diversity and condemn discrimination.

Because of this, a Vampyros had made it into power.

‘She’s more dangerous than the others.’

Cira was a paragon. Compared to the others, she was a predator. Without a mana contract binding her, she could actually do damage.

Lyanna had instructed the Silence Nexus to expend everything to watch her. Now, they’d noticed a change in her schedule.

‘I have to act now.’

Unlike the others, capturing Cira, a paragon, wouldn’t be quiet, and it would tip the people responsible that she was on to them. But she couldn’t ignore the fact that she was on the move.

“Where’s she going?”

“That…”

“What?”

The assistant hesitated, but soon nodded. “We believe she’s heading towards the dominion pillar, mistress.”

‘Why there?’

The dominion pillar was simply a large structure that was more symbolic than anything.

Lyanna went through her mind. The Eldorians were currently absent, and the place was practically empty. Nothing of importance was kept there except…

Lyanna’s eyes widened.

‘Atticus’ barrier.’

The safety net Atticus had put in place to protect the city against Voidlings before his seclusion.

‘Is that her target?’

She moved towards the office window.

“Mistress?”

Though the assistant called her, she didn’t register her words. Her mind ran.

Though a god made the rune, it had still been made with mana and could be negated. Lyanna doubted Atticus had created the rune with an attack on it in mind. No one could betray them…

‘Except now.’

“Listen to my orders.” Wisps of frost rose from Lyanna’s skin as she stared at the dominion pillar structure in the distance.

The assistant gulped, then nodded.

“Yes, mistress.”

“Inform Oberon immediately, Cira Noxwell, a Paragon, is targeting the city’s safety net. Send word to Sirius as well, and tell the Voidling fighters to prepare for battle. I’ll handle the rest.”

“Yes, m—”

Lyanna vanished, tearing through the building window and into the night sky.

A streak of white followed her ascent as she appeared above the Dominion Pillar, scanning the area.

‘She’s here already.’

Lyanna blurred from the skies, tearing through the halls of the dominion pillar before bursting into a courtyard.

“W-who are y—”

“Save the useless pleasantries.”

Lyanna landed in front of a woman in a simple black gown with a hooded cloak obscuring her face.

“Cira Noxwell.” Lyanna started coldly, “One hundred and twelve years old. A Vampyros who clawed her way into the Defense Dominion Pillar and is now using her authority to tamper with the runes our god placed to protect this city. “Tell me, did I get any of that wrong?”

A bloody wave exploded from Cira, flooding the courtyard in a crimson haze.

Distant flashes of light flared across the city as alarms blared, locking onto their position. Lyanna’s little entrance had been loud enough to draw every sensor in range, exactly as planned.

“You’re Lyanna,” Cira hissed, lowering her cloak to reveal gleaming fangs and blood red eyes.

“It’s Ice Witch to you.”

“How did you find out?”

“Ugh, I’m so glad you dropped the act.” Lyanna stretched her neck, rolling her shoulders as cold air started to bleed from her skin.

“Makes things so much easier. Now… why the hell are you doing this?”

“That stupid child will know the same pain I knew.”

“Child?” Lyanna’s brow arched, then she let out a soft laugh. “Oh, you mean Atticus? You did all this just to get revenge on him?”

“I can’t expect your feeble kind to understand.”

“Oh no, I understand,” Lyanna waved dismissively. “What I don’t get is how fucking delusional you are. Atticus is the one person I consider more ruthless than I am. Tell me, do you really think he gives a damn about this city?”

“Of course not!”

“Then why target it?”

The light from the incoming beams grew closer, seconds away now.

Cira smiled. “Who said our target was the city?”

Lyanna’s eyes constricted. “Then—”

“I’ll have my revenge, no matter what.”

In one swift motion, Cira brought out a rune etched in scarlet steel and channeled her mana into it.

“Shit!”

Lyanna raised her hand, and an incalculable number of ice spikes materialized, shredding through the air toward Cira.

But as the rune dissolved into mist, a blinding pillar of light erupted from the ground, tearing through the sky and hurling Lyanna backward with force.

She steadied herself midair, frost swirling around her cloak, and looked up just as the pillar of light unfurled across the skies, engulfing the entire city.
