Aspiring to the Immortal Path

Chapter 1187: Conspiracy (4)

Tang Jie’s eyes turned white.

Standing at the center of the mountain, he raised his arms high, his white eyes churning with fog as they reflected the scenery around him, as if he had taken all of the obscuring white fog into his eyes.

And this truly was the case.

With his supreme power, Tang Jie had turned his eyes into a battlefield, drawing the white fog within them so that he could directly clash with it.

Only an expert of his level, who was also the master of the Eight Ocean Mountains, could draw the interference affecting the formation onto himself and directly oppose it. Dark clouds seemed to appear in his eyes, beginning to vie with the white fog for supremacy over this space. The Eight Ocean Mountains reflected this struggle, fog rising and falling amidst torrents of black and silver.

As white and black clouds roiled back and forth, the obscured images began to be restored, and the bronze mirrors at the four main surveillance nodes began to work again. Although there was still some darkness in the mirrors, this did not prevent them from fulfilling their duty.

“Activate! Seek out the source of the spatial disturbance!” Tang Jie shouted.

Even though the interference had not been completely resolved, Tang Jie was still capable of tracking the disturbance from just now. So long as the spatial passage was still open, then the tremors would continue, and Tang Jie could track them to their source.

Tang Jie released his Divine Will, which transformed into countless feelers that spread out across the screens, magnifying area after area in search of the tremor source.

In this vast land, finding a hidden spatial passage was no easy task, even with the interference greatly reduced.

But Tang Jie was in no rush, searching for it at his own pace.

Time slowly passed.

As time passed, the alarmed cultivators ready for battle found that the demons had not attacked, and their panic and tension gradually faded. Meanwhile, Tang Jie’s search for the spatial tremor had been fruitless.

The Eight Ocean Mountains was at maximum power, all of its formation nodes activated and rapidly consuming spirit stones. The formation lines in the human camp pulsed and glowed, once more alarming the cultivators, but Tang Jie still made no progress.

Tang Jie’s face turned grim.

The spatial passage was growing larger and more stable, and if enough time passed, even if he found it and rushed over, it would be too late to destroy it.

At this moment, there was another spatial tremor, as if something had rammed into the spatial barrier.

This brief tremor gave Tang Jie an opening.

His Divine Will instantly shot off in the direction of the tremor, crossing all distances and obstacles to finally find the region from which this tremor originated. There was a powerful energy surrounding this region that was doing its utmost to hide it, and in the center of this region, a dark passage was forming. At the very front of this passage, a Nether ship was trying to emerge. The tremor just now was caused by the ship getting stuck in the passage in its rush to get through.

“Finally showed up, huh?” Tang Jie smiled.

To judge by the passage’s rate of expansion, it was at a crucial phase. The Yellow Springs had been drawn out of the Nether Domain but had yet to completely break through the spatial barrier. If the passage were destroyed at this juncture, the Space energy would run rampant and create a massive shockwave in the area. This Space energy would be mixed with the water of the Yellow Springs, making it even more destructive.

And to ensure the passage was safe, it was located in the rear of demon territory.

If the passage were destroyed, perhaps the Rosecloud Domain would be free of its headache and be the fastest domain in the Great Stellar Chiliocosm to overcome a Primordial Fog Calamity.

Tang Jie stepped forward.

With this single step, Tang Jie blinked through space and appeared in the rear of demon territory. As a Supreme True Immortal, even without entering the Dao of Space, he could still emulate its powers.

The moment he appeared, Tang Jie clawed at the air.

Imbued with a majestic energy, his hand reached for the spatial passage.

As the hand made contact with the spatial passage, the passage began to erupt with powerful shockwaves from the immense energy flowing through it. But Tang Jie once more struck the passage, and the spatial passage was actually “flattened”.

He then twisted it, and a hole was torn through the spatial passage.

With a simple act, he had destroyed the passage.

It had gone unbelievably smoothly.

Space energy went berserk, forming a rampaging storm. As for the Nether army within the spatial passage, it was doomed. The spatial storm instantly obliterated them, not even giving them a chance to howl before they died. Only that Nether ship stuck in the passage’s opening was able to get out in the moment that Tang Jie tore open the passage.

As the ghost ship was emerging, one could see the violent storm tearing through the vast Nether armies.

“NOOOO!” There was a cry of anger and despair.

A dense ghost energy erupted into the heavens as a sinister and terrifying presence bellowed.

But in Tang Jie’s eyes, this presence was insignificant, not even worth a glance.

It was just a middle-tier Nether Emperor.

As the Nether Emperor bellowed, the storm began to change.

The turbulent Space energy suddenly began to all rotate in a single direction, as if an invisible hand had intervened to bring order to the world, akin to how Demon Lords could organize the masses of violent and unruly demons into a disciplined army.

Thus, a strange sight quickly appeared in the skies.

The Space energy had been gathered into a giant energy vortex.

This Space vortex annihilated everything in its path, but within the vortex, all was peaceful, with no energy leaking out, allowing Tang Jie and the Nether ship to face off without interference.

The Nether Emperor realized that something was wrong and looked around in shock. “What’s going on? Demon Lord Bloodfiend, what are you doing? Weren’t you inviting me to invade a world together? Why did a True Immortal destroy the passage? And what’s with this energy vortex?”

Tang Jie smirked. “No wonder you dared to come over despite being only a singular Nether Emperor. You don’t even know who you’re working with.”

“Hahahaha!” Wild laughter came from all around.

And then devil after devil began to appear.

There were several dozen devils, three of them True-Immortal-level Lesser Demon Lords and twenty-some Earth-Immortal-level devils.

Demon Lord Bloodfiend was one of the three Lesser Demon Lords. He was a human who had fallen to become a devil, and his entire body was glowing with a crimson light that made him like a red sun. Standing in the spatial vortex, he laughed, “The Freedom Immortal Sovereign is correct. Nether Emperor Silent Cloud, you really are a fool. You really think you’re good enough to collaborate with Demon Lord Libido? Your sole source of value to us is as cannon fodder, as bait to draw the Freedom Immortal Sovereign into a trap! Hahahaha!”

He once more started laughing.

“So that really was what was going on? The Nether Domain invasion was a trap from the start? Meant to draw me in?” Tang Jie said.

“Correct!” The speaker this time was that Primal Dark Heaven.

Standing among the Earth Immortal devils, he smugly said, “It was a trap meant for you from the start.”

Tang Jie glanced at the lonely Nether ship and the panicking Nether Emperor Silent Cloud and nodded. “Using a Nether Emperor and their entire Nether army as bait must have been quite expensive.”

A Nether Emperor was nothing, but the Nether Domain had always been about numbers. A single Nether Emperor represented their vast army, and at times, a Nether Emperor at the head of their legion could match half of a demon army.

Most of that Nether army had basically been obliterated in the spatial passage.

Tang Jie said, “Are you not afraid of offending the Nether Domain, making any further help from them out of the question?”

Swindling one’s allies was no minor affair. The Nether Domain weren’t pushovers, and so even if they couldn’t avenge themselves against the demons, they could still refuse to offer them any help.

Demon Lord Bloodfiend laughed. “That’s why we only used one Nether Emperor as bait. So long as he dies, its influence will be minimized, and how many Nether Emperors and Nether Gods will be willing to speak up for him? And so what if we offend the Nether Domain? It’s worth it for the Eight Ocean Mountains!”

“The Eight Ocean Mountains…” Tang Jie narrowed his eyes.

So it really was for the formation?

As the builder and controller of the Eight Ocean Mountains, I’m the key to dealing with it.

No, wait!

Tang Jie looked around at the assembled devils and said in realization, “You didn’t do all this to destroy the formation… It’s to control the formation!”

“Hahahah!” An even stronger laugh boomed.

This was a majestic laugh, suffused with a terrifying power.

And then a massive figure emerged. It was impossible to make out his face, as it was only vaguely visible beneath a thick layer of demonic energy.

All of the demons turned and said, “We pay respects to the Demon Lord!”

Demon Lord Libido said, “Tang Jie, you are correct. We drew you into a trap not to kill you and break the formation, but to take control of the Eight Ocean Mountains.”

Demon Lord Libido’s eyes flashed with greed. “Detecting all things, offering up demons, purifying demonic energy? All petty tricks! The true function of the Eight Ocean Mountains is connection! By sensing all beings, you can connect to the domain, and with the offering of countless demons, you can awaken the domain and sense its core, absorbing its core and using it to achieve Boundless Gold Immortal!”

He turned to Tang Jie and shouted, “This is an opportunity granted to me by the heavens! If I make you into a demon and have you serve me, the Eight Ocean Mountains will be mine! With this formation, I can ascend to Gold Immortal, becoming a peak Demon Lord and opening the path to Demon Sovereign!”
