Aspiring to the Immortal Path

Chapter 1173: All-Out Assault (2)

Primordial Fog Violet Energy was an infamous existence of the Primordial Fog Domain. It was refined from dark demonic energy by high-tier devils, and its greatest use was corrupting humans.

Once Violet Energy infiltrated a cultivator, it would corrupt them. Those of weaker cultivation would die on the spot, while cultivators of weak will and strong cultivation might fall to demonhood. Cultivators of higher cultivation level might be able to resist the Violet Energy, but they would end up heavily injured, with consequences ranging from a fall in cultivation level to as severe as never being able to advance again. Even Immortals would be affected by Violet Energy, with the most obvious effects being Immortal energy being slower to use and recover, and even their revival could be affected.

This was one of the big advantages the Primordial Fog Domain held against the Stellar Chiliocosm. The Stellar Chiliocosm had been researching all kinds of ways to counter it, with Horizon Ocean Pavilion even developing a method to cultivate it. But the Violet Energy they cultivated was child’s play compared to the actual Violet Energy from the Primordial Fog Domain, not on the same level at all. To be honest, it was just for familiarizing themselves with it so that they would have some more experience when they encountered the real thing.

What was scary about being ambushed by the demon wasn’t that Reverend Lotus had died once, but that Violet Energy had been planted within him.

The Violet Energy ran rampant in his body, and Reverend Lotus felt his insides being thrown into turmoil. With a wave of his hand, the green lotus blossom in the sky cast some of its light on him. Able to both kill enemies and heal himself, his Pearl Jade Lotus was an extremely useful treasure.

Alas, it could only temporarily suppress the Violet Energy, not remove it.

A moment later, the scythe devil laughed and waved his scythe, unleashing an arc of light at the lotus.

At the same time, the Jing brothers were also in trouble.

A Demonhorn leaping at the Jing brothers suddenly accelerated, emerging from the clouds and rushing at Jing Yuanyang. As it lunged, it transformed into a child wreathed in black energy that let out a shriek, upon which Jing Yuanyang immediately felt dizzy.

A Divine Soul attack.

A Silver Pyro suddenly grew ten times larger, and its appearance caused all the Silver Pyros to cheer.

This was a Silver Pyro elder.

Elders also appeared among the Ironbones, Red Bats, and Demonhorns.

The elders of these four demon species were all at the Transformation level, while that demon boy who had attacked Jing Yuanyang was a Violet Palace devil. With a crow of triumph, they engulfed the brothers in silver flames.

This time, Reverend Lotus wasn’t there to block the attack.

Meanwhile, more demons were coming out of the bronze gate.

This time, it was Shadow Nagas, which were on par with Spirit Ring cultivators.

These demons had serpentine bodies, half human and half snake, and they possessed formidable spell arts. In the Demon Codex, they were ranked 176th.

The army of Shadow Nagas was considered the main force of the Primordial Fog Domain. They were bloodthirsty and savage, leaving nothing alive in their wake, not even grass.

When the Shadow Nagas appeared, the three knew that there was no stopping the demon invasion.

Reverend Lotus shouted, “Fall back!”

The Jing brothers started to fly away.

“Trying to run?” The scythe demon chuckled. “Why don’t you stay right there?”

It waved its scythe, unleashing black blades that whistled through the air toward the three.

Reverend Lotus’s Pearl Jade Lotus flashed and blocked the black scythe, as well as a slew of other devil attacks. For him to block all these attacks alone took everything he had.

But as he was doing this, several black waves of energy hurtled toward the Jing Brothers.

Reverend Lotus realized that there were still more ambushers among the demons, but it was too late for him to go to their aid. A black light struck Jing Yuanyang, and he screamed as his body dissolved. But before he died, he threw out his giant sword, blocking the black wave aimed at his younger brother.

“Big Brother!” Jing Yuanhao cried out in grief. Three more black beams were fired at Jing Yuanhao, but before he could dodge, the demon boy let out another shriek.

Jing Yuanhao was instantly paralyzed by that demonic sound, and then the black beams pierced through him.

“Yuanyang, Yuanhao!” Reverend Lotus cried out.

He knew that he couldn’t delay, immediately calling back his lotus and fleeing. With his cultivation, he couldn’t defeat all these devils, but they also would have a hard time keeping him here.

But just when he was about to leave, a grunt came from behind the gate.

An immense pressure instantly rendered Reverend Lotus immobile.

“A Demon Lord?” Reverend Lotus cried out in alarm.

The pressure coming from the gate clearly belonged to a True-Immortal-level Demon Lord. He just wasn’t sure if it was an Archdemon Lord or Lesser Demon Lord. The Primordial Fog Domain had 99 Archdemon Lords and several thousand lesser Demon Lords. Archdemon Lords were True Immortals at the minimum and were only the strongest kind of True Immortal, while Lesser Demon Lords were much weaker.

But any Demon Lord was too much for Reverend Lotus to handle.

With a Demon Lord holding him down, Reverend Lotus despaired.

Attacks rushed in, and Reverend Lotus knew that his fate was sealed. But just when he was determined to self-detonate, a light appeared in the distance.

It was sword light.

It cleaved through the air and landed in front of Reverend Lotus, blocking all the attacks aimed at him, and, more importantly, severed the Demon Lord’s binding power.

Reverend Lotus felt the restraints loosen, and when he looked up, he saw the clouds shifting into the form of Tang Jie’s face.

“I pay my respects to the Freedom Immortal Lord!” Reverend Lotus shouted. As a latecomer, he didn’t use Tang Jie’s old title and was more accustomed to using the title that better suited Tang Jie’s current status.

Tang Jie glanced at the remains of the Jing brothers and sighed. “I came too late.”

The Eight Ocean Mountains was able to sense all things, but that was only when it came to lower-level existences. When existences on par with Tang Jie appeared, the Eight Ocean Mountains became much less useful. Latest content published on novelꞁire.net

Thus, when the bronze gate appeared, Tang Jie lost perception of the region. Not only that, the Demon Lord intentionally hindered him from sensing the other people in the area.

Tang Jie had immediately determined that the Primordial Fog Domain was beginning its large-scale invasion.

He could no longer stop it, but he needed to stop anyone else from trying to and instead bring them back to the area under human control, so he had rushed over.

Alas, he had still been too slow. The Jing brothers had died tragic deaths while Reverend Lotus had been heavily injured and almost lost his life. As for right now, Tang Jie himself had yet to arrive, but as he had gotten closer, he had been able to sense a little of what was going on and cast an art from far away to rescue Reverend Lotus.

A voice drifted out from behind the gate: “An excellent move!”

A tendril of black energy shot out of the gate and into the clouds while the voice said, “I’ll hold him down. Bloodscythe and the rest of you, don’t worry about anything else and focus on defending the gate. Immediately offer all the demon infants to expand the Demon Gate!”

“What?” The devil called Bloodscythe was stunned. “That human isn’t here yet, so this subordinate can handle things. Offering them now is a little too soon…”

“Do it now!” the voice barked.

Bloodscythe didn’t dare to defy this order. After taking one last reluctant glance at Tang Jie, he threw back his head and howled.

With this howl, all the demon infants screeched in pain and dissolved into piles of flesh. All that was left was the elder of the demon infants, who sorrowfully gazed at its deceased people.

With the deaths of the demon infants, the Demon Gate grew larger, and even more demons rushed out.

It was now possible to see that the Naga army was being followed by an army of Violet Djinn, with bodies like tornadoes. They were ranked 155th in the Demon Codex, possessing the power of Heart Demon cultivators. If Shadow Nagas were the main force, Violet Djinn were the elites, and wherever an army of Violet Djinn went, even Immortals would find them hard to stop.

Stronger than them were the demon soldiers on the Soul Transformation level, which was the equivalent of the imperial guard, the strongest of the demon armies, their trump card. Those higher, at the Violet Palace level, normally didn’t form armies, and it was only Archdemon Lords that might have armies formed from Violet Palace devils, albeit small ones.

When Tang Jie saw the Demon Gate expanding, he knew that this would be a real problem.

He was clearly dealing with an extremely cautious foe. He truly had wanted to use this opportunity to destroy the Demon Gate and cut off the Demon Lord’s pressure so that he could kill some more demons. But the enemy had made the ideal decision, offering up all the demon infants to expand the gate and focusing entirely on defense, even going out personally to hold him back.

Not even Tang Jie was sure that he could break through this skyrocketing demonic energy. After all, he was still on the way and couldn’t use his full power. He could only glare at the Demon Gate, saying, “The Basking Moon Sect’s Tang Jie would like to ask which Demon Lord dares invade my Rosecloud.”

“‘The Basking Moon Sect’s Tang Jie’? I will remember this name,” the voice behind the gate said. “You can call me Demon Lord Libido.”

“‘Demon Lord Libido’…” Tang Jie immediately recalled that this was one of the 99 Archdemon Lords who had been promoted in the last Primordial Fog Calamity.

Worth noting was that the Primordial Fog Domain didn’t decide who the Archdemon Lords were. The Stellar Chiliocosm did.

In each Primordial Fog Calamity, the Great Stellar Chiliocosm would evaluate each enemy that they encountered, giving them a grade based on their cultivation, strength, and the level of damage they inflicted. The devils of the Primordial Fog Domain were happy to accept this recognition of their strength.

For this reason, the devils would essentially engage in a killing competition during each calamity to show off their martial might.

Demon Lord Libido had been newly ranked as one of the 99 Archdemon Lords in the last Primordial Fog Calamity.

Knowing that such a powerhouse had come, Tang Jie immediately grabbed Reverend Lotus and retreated.

On this day, Heavenweave Ridge was lost, and the Primordial Fog Domain finally made its first advance into the lands of the Rosecloud Domain.
