Chapter 1159: Five People, Six Daos
The four who had appeared were all Boundless Gold Immortals, existences that stood at the very top of the chiliocosm.
Any one of them outshone the heavens and could make an entire world tremble in fear.
But four of them had appeared to deal with a single Yu Cheng.
Even then, they didn’t think it was enough.
A fifth Boundless Gold Immortal soon appeared.
This was a child who appeared around seven or eight, the ancestor of the Heaven’s Equal Sect. He saluted Yu Cheng and said, “The Ageless Child pays respects to Your Majesty the Immortal Emperor.”
Yu Cheng did not recognize this child.
He frowned at the child. “Strange. While I don’t recognize you, there’s a familiar energy on you. Are you the descendant of one of my old friends?”
The boy indifferently said, “This one was an incense boy under the Unbounded one. It is only natural that Your Majesty would not notice me.”
“So you were under Old Man Unbounded,” Yu Cheng said in realization. “So he also betrayed me?”“Old Man Unbounded” was one of the Four Sages of his court, the Unbounded Immortal Elder.
Before the Ageless Child could say anything, the Sage Mother of the West said, “When Your Majesty used the Fake Sky, False Sun Immortal Art, bringing a large number of subordinates with you in hibernation, you never told any of us the truth. When the Martial Lord invaded, the court was without a leader, and so its one thousand generals and one million Immortal troops could not stop a single Li Jiuyang. We fought to the death to protect the court, but in the end, we were heavily injured and forced to flee. But at the end, we learned that Your Majesty had not truly gone missing, that you had not truly died. If you were in our position, Your Majesty, you would also make the same decision. Alas, Old Man Unbounded was heavily wounded and then forced himself to peer into the heavens and glimpse the Immortal Emperor’s arrangements. As a result, he suffered the backlash of Fate and ultimately became Returned Remnants.”
“Is that what happened?” Yu Cheng chuckled. “Because I abandoned you, you regarded me as an enemy. You’ve truly found a good excuse for yourself. Sage Mother of the West, why do you not mention that you Four Sages were harboring ulterior motives from the very start?”
The Sage Mother paled. “Don’t speak nonsense!”
Yu Cheng went on, “You can deny it, but it’s pointless. This one has always only asked my Origin Heart when acting. For some things, I just do them without any chatter or talk. Since I go against the heavens, the Heavenly Dao will naturally put up barriers against me. These obstacles are stumbling stones on my path forward, but they are also climbing stones on my way to the supreme Heavenly Dao. Thus, I care not if you are traitors or loyalists. Loyalists will be given the treatment loyalty deserves, while traitors will be given the end of traitors. Since ancient times, all matters under heaven can be summarized in two words: ‘success’ and ‘failure’!”
His eyes gleaming with a sharp light, he looked at the five and laughed. “Is anyone else coming to the party?”
Wandering Ferry said, “If the five of us are insufficient to seize Your Majesty, Your Majesty will know.”
He held up his book and began to chant aloud from it, upon which countless characters flew out from the pages, radiating a mystical power as they flew into the surroundings and formed a giant net. They were infused with the Dao of Space, preventing any escape art from getting through this wall.
Wu Antian swung his Starcrush Cudgel, a heaven-bearing pillar flying toward Yu Cheng. At the same time, the Ageless Child and the Sage Mother of the West also took action. These were all Boundless Gold Immortals, terrifying existences who could easily wipe out vast areas. Fortunately, the net of golden characters served as both a cage for Yu Cheng and a wall to prevent damage from spreading. But most importantly, it could also keep out core energy. Otherwise, if all these Boundless Gold Immortals started to use core energy, they would either fight until the world was in ruins or else fight endlessly until the Heavenly Dao forsook them.
A great battle began within the net.
Gazing at the surging Immortal winds rushing toward him, Yu Cheng laughed. “It’s fine. I’ll let you understand the true gap between us so that you can cease your stubborn resistance.”
He thrust out a finger.
He didn’t use the Xuanyuan Sword, simply stabbing a finger at the Starcrush Cudgel. Ripples of power spread out from the point of impact. Though these ripples seemed ordinary, they were all infused with an obliterating energy, and Wu Antian was sent flying.
The Ageless Child and the Sage Mother attacked, but in a flash of light, the Infinite Palace appeared around Yu Cheng, but even larger and more majestic than Tang Jie’s version. The attacks from the two Gold Immortals disappeared into the Infinite Palace, which let out a resplendent glow that reminded the Sage Mother so much of the glory days of the Court of Myriad Domains that she froze for a few moments.
Yu Cheng blinked behind Wu Antian, thrusting out a finger infused with Slaughter and Destruction.
Wu Antian’s heart chilled, and he knew that if he were struck by this finger, even as a Boundless Gold Immortal, he would find it very difficult to revive.
He instantly created countless barriers, so powerful that any regular person would have despaired. But in front of Yu Cheng’s finger, they were torn through as if they were made of paper.
This was the power of Slaughter, able to break through all defenses.
Wu Antian saw that there was no avoiding the finger, so he suddenly began to emit strange pulses of power, and Yu Cheng’s finger paused for a moment. Though it was just for a second, Wu Antian was able to seize that opening to flee.
Yu Cheng grunted, and a clap of thunder blasted Wu Antian out of his escape art.
Yu Cheng turned around and looked at the straight-browed man, who had yet to join in. “An excellent White Steed Flits Past the Crack, carrying some hints of the Great Dao. As expected of my disciples.”
Gu Daocheng smiled. “In the end, it only carries a little of the Great Dao, far from the six Daos of Master.”
“Since you dared to come, you must have something to back you up. Let me see what progress you made in the last ten thousand years!” Yu Cheng waved his sleeve, summoning a giant hand that swept toward Gu Daocheng.
Gu Daocheng sighed. “If Master wishes to see, this disciple will do his best.”
He raised his hands, and a massive vista appeared behind him, an entire world with mighty mountains and raging rivers.
Even Yu Cheng was taken aback. “The Silk Brocade World? You managed to finish it? Good, good, as expected of my fine disciple!”
Like the Mountain River State Diagram, the Silk Brocade World was also a small world. It was much larger, but it lacked the innovation and strangeness of the Yellow Court World, its structure differing little from the Great Stellar Chiliocosm.
When the Silk Brocade World unfurled, Gu Daocheng’s aura began to rise, and he gazed down upon Yu Cheng like the master of the world, his expression solemn. “Master, please instruct me!”
An immense energy flooded toward Yu Cheng.
“Then let’s test it out.” Yu Cheng had that giant hand continue forward, and as it rushed forward, it began to wither and decay.
The black and decaying hand struck that magnificent world, upon which mountains began to crumble, forests died en masse, and even the soil was drained of vitality and moisture, becoming like sand.
This was the power of Destruction, obliterating all vitality. Even an Immortal would find their Divine Soul withering and life force consumed under its influence, eventually resulting in death.
As the power of Destruction invaded the Silk Brocade World, Gu Daocheng suddenly let out a yell, and lush greenery bloomed, swiftly growing over the withered areas.
Yu Cheng’s power of Destruction was still wreaking havoc as Gu Daocheng’s green wave gave chase, creating Life in the wake of Death.
The Dao of Life!
Yu Cheng had originally been a master of six Daos, proficient in Karma, Fate, Time, Space, Life, and Reincarnation.
Gu Daocheng was his disciple, and while he wasn’t as talented, he had still entered two Daos. He had comprehended a little of the Daos of Space and Time, but he was truly an expert in Life and Reincarnation.
Yu Cheng’s Destruction and Gu Daocheng’s Life were in a stalemate.
On the side, the Sage Mother of the West waved her sleeve, but this understated action made Yu Cheng extremely wary. In a flash, he used Nearby Horizon, but rather than attacking her, he chose to create distance. He then said, “Are you truly determined to fight with me to the death?”
The Sage Mother calmly said, “I made up my mind the day you abandoned us.”
A golden light shot out from her mouth.
Yu Cheng thrust out his palm in response, and the golden light shattered on contact, much to Yu Cheng’s consternation. The Sage Mother’s face turned red, and then she threw up blood. For a Boundless Gold Immortal like her to be injured after a single failed attack was rather strange, but a moment later, Yu Cheng grunted, and blood began to trickle out of his mouth.
The attacks of three Gold Immortals had failed to injure him, yet now, he had inexplicably been injured.
Yu Cheng stared at the Sage Mother and muttered, “The Twin Karma Lotus! It seems you really do hate me.”
The Sage Mother slightly raised her head. “I’ve waited ten thousand years for this day.”
There was another gust of Immortal wind.
Yu Cheng once more activated Nearby Horizon to evade.
This woman’s Twin Karma Lotus was an extremely powerful Karma Dao Art. It was an extremely bizarre Dao Art that had no offensive power but would entangle Karmas. Injuring her was the same as injuring oneself, which made it almost a perfect defense. Meanwhile, her attacks weren’t affected by the Dao of Karma at all.
The best way to use the Great Dao was to not just use it against one’s enemies, but also use it to transcend the Great Dao. In the past, the Sage Mother was only able to transcend the Twin Karma Lotus to a limited effect. In other words, her attacks would still damage herself to a certain extent. Now, however, her attacks had no effect on her at all, meaning that she had risen from the Dao-entering level to the Dao-controlling level.
To advance in one’s understanding of the Dao as a Gold Immortal had to be due to either her own talent or the favor of the Heavenly Dao.
Right now, the latter seemed more likely.
“Is that what you get for selling yourself?” Yu Cheng snorted. “What about you lot? What did you gain? Let me see!”
“I dare not disobey the Immortal Emperor,” Wandering Ferry said with a smile. He shot out a stream of light which made the surrounding space freeze.
At the same time, the Ageless Child began to radiate a majestic and heavenly aura.
This was the Dao of Fate manifesting the will of the Heavenly Dao!
Finally, Wu Antian simply grew into a mighty giant, swinging his cudgel. There was nothing special about it, but the power he displayed made him seem like the rebirth of the Martial Lord!
Time, Space, Life, Reincarnation, Karma, Fate, and a sky-scraping giant had arrayed themselves before Yu Cheng…
