Chapter 1157: Ancestral Hall
The Swelling Ocean Divine State.
This was a Divine State located in the center of the Vast Wilderness Continent, a vast land rich in spiritual energy that served as a major site of human talents.
Wangxiu Mountain was one of the 72 famous mountains of the Swelling Ocean Divine State. While the Celestial Frost Sect that occupied it wasn’t a country-level sect, it was still a high-level sect watched over by an Earth Immortal. In the Snow Kingdom, there was no other sect besides the Snowspirit Palace that the Celestial Frost Sect needed to care about.
Normally, the disciples of the Celestial Frost Sect walked around like they were better than the common folk.
It was early morning.
Creeeak! The gates of the Celestial Frost Sect, which each weighed 2800 taels, were pushed open.
The one pushing them open was a scrawny and ill-looking youth holding a broom. Despite his weak appearance, he was at Spirit Lake, or else he wouldn’t have been able to open these heavy gates. But in the Celestial Frost Sect, this was far too low, so low that one could only serve as a broom-sweeping boy.
The youth began to sweep the fallen leaves in front of the gate.
He swept very seriously, putting his all into what was simple labor without any prospects. Once he had swept up all the leaves, the youth put down his broom and found a place to sit down and begin breathing exercises.
But based on the rhythm of his breathing, it seemed very difficult. After completing only one Major Circuit Heaven, the youth stopped and rubbed his chest while panting. “No good—it’s still too forced. Damn it…”
The youth’s face twisted in pain and hatred.
The gates opened once more.
But rather than being pushed open physically, they were easily pushed open by blasts of energy issued from two hands.
A group of youths walked out from behind the gates, led by a blue-robed youth with his hair tied up in a bundle and carrying a folding fan.
Just when it seemed like they were going out, they spotted that youth meditating on the side and stopped.
The blue-robed youth seemed to think of something and then suddenly blew. A wind rose, sending leaves drifting to the ground.
The blue-robed youth looked at the ground and casually said, “This place hasn’t been swept clean.”
Someone next to him stepped forward and said, “As Young Master Yu says, this place hasn’t been swept clean.”
Another person commented, “That servant boy responsible for sweeping is slacking off!”
“What should we do with someone who’s slacking off?” the blue-robed youth asked.
“Punish him!” everyone answered in unison.
They cast unfriendly gazes at the sweeper boy.
The sweeper youth had been starting to stand the moment the group had come out, but alas, he was still too slow. The leaves had fallen, and his crime was set.
The youth’s face turned red, and he shouted, “Yu Lincong, just how long are you going to bully me? Didn’t I only win a single Spirit Essence Pill from you? And I won that off a bet, so why are you causing trouble with me over it? Besides, you already found someone to damage my meridians, preventing me from making any progress for five years and forcing me to become a sweeper boy. What else do you want?”
This youth was ultimately a little naive, thinking that this was about a single pill and not realizing that the true source of Yu Lincong’s resentment was that he had exposed this matter and made him lose face.
Thus, Yu Lincong’s face fell as he said, “Hah, Ye Xuan, it’s clearly your own incompetence that has prevented you from making any progress in five years, yet you dare slander others, disrespecting your superior! Beat him up!”
The group rushed at him.
Ye Xuan was no fool, and immediately ran the moment he saw the situation. Thanks to a lot of experience with being bullied, despite his average cultivation, he had cultivated a spell art extremely suited for running, and he himself was a slippery character by nature. Thus, once he started running, that group of youths was unable to catch him.
The weakest of these cultivators was at Spirit Lake, and some had already entered Mortal Shedding. Unable to catch a mere Spirit Lake brat, they decided to drop their dignity and chase him even harder, some of them even using spell arts to fly.
Unafraid, Ye Xuan turned and ran into a palace complex.
This was the headquarters of the Celestial Frost Sect, and there were many buildings here which important individuals frequented. Those youths didn’t dare to act impudently in such a place and could only pursue on foot.
Ye Xuan ran forward with all his might.
As a Spirit Disciple, he was restricted in the places he could go, but as he was being chased, he didn’t exactly care where he was running. As a result, he soon came to a deserted area.
The chasing youths saw where they were and shouted, “We can’t go in! That’s the ancestral hall!”
While the youths stopped, Ye Xuan continued forward. This wasn’t because he couldn’t hear, but because he simply didn’t believe what they were saying. What if it was a lie? Then if he stopped, he would be facing disaster.
Before him was a grandiose hall. There was no one standing guard, but it exuded majesty all on its own.
Ye Xuan ran into the hall without a second thought. Only when he reached the door did he feel a binding power seize him, rendering him immobile.
Stunned, he found himself slowly rising into the air, and no matter how he struggled, he couldn’t break free.
Suddenly, a light flashed behind the door, and the entire hall began to sway and shudder. An immense energy surged out of the hall, as if something was trying to break free.
The power binding Ye Xuan also disappeared, and he plopped onto the floor.
He knew that something must have happened in the hall, and he instinctively wanted to run. But the threat of Yu Lincong’s group made him stop. A thought occurred to him. There might be danger in the hall, but what if there was also an opportunity?
If he ran, wouldn’t he miss out on this opportunity?
Recalling all that he had suffered, Ye Xuan made up his mind. He no longer wanted to run, no longer wanted to be bullied. If there was a death trap in the hall, then he was dead. If there was opportunity, then he could change his entire life.
His mind made up, Ye Xuan pushed open the door.
All of the power in the door was resisting that existence within, so Ye Xuan encountered no resistance and was able to easily push open the door.
Light flooded out from the doors, shooting straight to the heavens.
Ye Xuan instinctively closed his eyes, but then he realized that this light wasn’t blinding. On the contrary, it was a warm and gentle light. His old wounds rapidly healed, and at the same time, he felt a strange energy flow into his body…
“I’ve finally returned!”
A voice sighed next to him.
Ye Xuan saw a young man walk out of the hall. Behind him was what appeared to be a mirror made of mercury, giving off strange pulses of power and a dazzling radiance. Gradually, the pulses of light faded away, leaving only the formation lines on the ground, which also dimmed as the energy faded from them.
This was…
Ye Xuan was stunned. Although he had little experience, he could tell that this was no ordinary incident… The Celestial Frost Sect made offerings to the ancestral idols throughout the year, and there was no ancestor that he didn’t recognize. But this young man was not among the ancestors of the Celestial Frost Sect.
As the young man passed by Ye Xuan, he glanced at him and smiled. “So it was you who barged in and broke the seal. Although this one would still have broken out regardless, you still saved me some strength. It is the way of Karma to return in measure the good and evil done to oneself, so I will reward you.”
He snapped his fingers, and a sliver of thought entered Ye Xuan’s mind. Ye Xuan immediately had knowledge of a mantra in his mind, a profound and majestic mantra that was even better than the best arts of the Celestial Frost Sect, and he was overcome with joy.
The young man said, “You have received my art, and you were also lucky enough to get a sliver of Space energy. If you cultivate well, you should achieve great things. This Karma is settled, so I will take my leave.”
He flew off, no longer paying any attention to Ye Xuan.
For Yu Cheng, this was simply Karma, but for Ye Xuan, this was a turning point in his life.
After a long search, Yu Cheng had found sufficient resources in another world to finally build the teleportation formation to the Vast Wilderness Continent. For a cultivator, this wasn’t a very long time, but for the impatient Yu Cheng, it had been far too long.
He didn’t transport himself to the Five Origins Estate, because for him, this was a better location.
Yu Cheng looked up at the sky.
Above him was a brilliant rainbow.
“Finally, I’ve returned,” he muttered.
“Who goes there? You dare intrude on the ancestral ground of my Celestial Frost Sect?” A cultivator from the Celestial Frost Sect arrived on the scene.
In the end, his arrival had set off alarms in the Celestial Frost Sect.
Yu Cheng continued to look up at the sky.
For him, nothing seemed important other than that palace eternally suspended in the depths of the heavens.
“Audacious!”
Apparently angered by Yu Cheng’s disregard, the cultivator charged over with his sword, a wave of sword energy rising from the blade.
As a Celestial Heart cultivator, he was unleashing a formidable move, and even a Violet Palace expert wouldn’t be able to completely ignore it.
But Yu Cheng still seemed unperturbed.
He didn’t even put up a barrier, simply standing there. The sword energy disappeared before it could even get close to Yu Cheng, and then the cultivator froze.
In a light breeze, the cultivator crumbled to dust.
This was no spell art, simply a result of Yu Cheng subconsciously releasing his aura.
The majesty of the Immortal Emperor could not be infringed upon.
This sliver of aura was enough to turn a Celestial Heart cultivator to dust!
