Chapter 119: Bloodline Evolution: Void Cataclysm

“Kill them all!”

The south bank of the Silverflow had dissolved into total war, tens of thousands locked in close combat, the night air thick with steel and shouting.

Torchlight flickered across the churned mud of the shoreline, and the clash of blades rolled over the water like distant thunder that never stopped.

From altitude, the shape of the battle read clearly enough.

Westfall’s forces kept pouring out of the southern hills in continuous waves, bearing down hard on Northvale’s crossing point. On paper, their total numbers actually outweighed the Winterwatch Legion’s thirty thousand.

Speed had cost them structure, though. Rushing to intercept the crossing before it finished meant their front elements had outpaced the rest, with cavalry and light infantry arriving first and no mages or priests anywhere near the opening wave.

It was raw muscle, badly coordinated, with no real synergy between unit types. Horsemen charged into gaps that infantry hadn’t yet cleared, and foot soldiers found themselves exposed with no spellcasters to cover their flanks.

Elara’s force carried every role in balance: shield-bearers, archers, casters, and healers, all dug into a defensive formation they’d had time to actually set before the fighting started.

Heavy infantry held the line with their own bodies, priests kept them standing through sustained healing, and archers and mages worked freely behind that wall, pouring fire into anything that came within range.

Arrows darkened the sky in steady volleys while bolts of flame and frost lit up the ranks beyond.

Structure beat numbers, at least for now. The chaos of mismatched unit composition on Westfall’s side was bleeding them badly, and every wave that crashed against the shield wall broke apart a little more than the one before it.

On the northern bank, the Northvale main force kept crossing in disciplined columns, the pontoon bridges running at full capacity.

Boots hammered the planks in steady rhythm, and officers barked orders to keep the lines tight and moving, so that no bridge ever stood empty for more than a moment.

Plenty of players had thrown themselves into the effort too, cutting timber for bridge supports and ferrying troops across on requisitioned flying mounts, each trip earning standing with the crown.

Those without an active quest simply crowded the northern shore, watching the fighting unfold across the water, visibly itching to cross and join in.

Some paced back and forth along the bank, while others gripped their weapons so tightly their avatars’ knuckles seemed to whiten.

Overhead, a cluster of well-known streamers circled on their own mounts, broadcasting the entire engagement live.

Steel flashed, banners tore through the smoke, and the raw spectacle of open warfare poured out to audiences who couldn’t look away.

“This is it. This is exactly what the game’s supposed to feel like.”

“My character’s hand is literally shaking. Let me across already.”

“This is just the opener. Wait until the full Northvale army actually finishes crossing.”

“Wait, Unrivaled’s companions look even stronger than last week. What happened?”

“That thing’s just casually wiping entire fifty-level NPC formations by itself.”

“Does that purple mountain have a size cap at all?”

“Forget the stats, the sheer SCALE of it is terrifying on its own. Biggest thing I’ve ever seen outside a raid boss.”

“Wait, is that cloaked figure the new companion he picked up after hitting 40?”

“One scythe swing, one kill, every time. That’s not even fair.”

Kael’s roster had become the night’s real spectacle, pulling eyes across every active stream, with discussion spiraling in real time. Viewer counts climbed by the minute, and the chat windows scrolled so fast they were nearly unreadable.

None of it registered to him. His full attention stayed locked on the fight in front of him, on the rising and falling of the battle line, and on the number quietly climbing in the corner of his vision.

NPC kills granted no experience or loot, but Evolution Points still tracked every fall, and with a battlefield this dense, the count climbed fast.

Each fallen soldier added a little more to the total, and the little additions piled up into something substantial. Half an hour into the fighting, the number finally crossed a full million.

He’d been waiting on this exact threshold for longer than he cared to admit.

He opened the panel immediately, selected Void Colossus, and confirmed the upgrade without hesitation. A full million points vanished from his total in an instant.

Void Colossus, still thundering through the enemy ranks at full size, flared with a sudden, violent surge of deep violet light.

The glow washed over the surrounding soldiers, friend and foe alike, throwing long shadows across the muddy ground.

Its frame actually shrank under the transformation, mass compressing down even as the pressure radiating off it climbed sharply higher.

A jagged purple horn tore free from the center of its skull, curving skyward like a drawn blade, the whole silhouette settling into something considerably more vicious than what had stood there a moment earlier.

[Notification: 1,000,000 Evolution Points consumed.]

Legendary-tier companion [Void Colossus] has evolved into Epic-tier [Void Cataclysm], awakening S-rank skill: [Cataclysmic Stomp].”

[VOID CATACLYSM]

Bloodline Tier: Epic

Constitution ★★★★★★★★★★★★

Strength ★★★★★★★★★★★★

Agility ★★★★★★★★

Spirit ★★★★★★★★

Skills: Voidforged Aegis (A), Endless Hunger (S), Skyrend Barrage (A), Hollowscream (S), Voidrupture (A), Titanshift (A), Cataclysmic Stomp (S)

Cataclysmic Stomp: A single, earth-shaking stomp unleashes a shockwave dealing 200% attack damage to every enemy within range. Mana Cost: 1,000 | Cooldown: 60s.

Kael’s very first companion, raised from a forgettable Iron-tier nobody since the night launch began, had finally climbed all the way to Epic.

It had come a long way from where it started, and every step of that climb had been earned the hard way.

One quality made this particular bloodline uniquely dangerous: every area skill it carried scaled its radius directly with its own physical size.

Which meant the whole loop fed itself. More kills meant more stacked health, more health meant more mass, and more mass meant a wider blast radius on every single AoE in its kit.

A companion that got stronger the longer it was allowed to keep eating, with no ceiling anywhere in sight.

The moment the evolution finished settling, Void Cataclysm threw its head back and slammed one massive foot into the ground.

The earth answered instantly, a shockwave rippling outward across a full fifty-meter radius, every enemy caught inside it losing a brutal chunk of health in a single pulse.

Dust and loose stone erupted skyward, and the ground itself seemed to shudder beneath the weight of the blow.

Soldiers already worn thin by the sustained fighting simply dropped where they stood, the blast finishing what the rest of the battle had already started.

An entire stretch of Westfall’s line collapsed in the span of a single breath.
