Ascension Of The Blood Supreme
Chapter 245. The Ghost Strategist 2.
Aiden’s gaze shifted towards another location.
The place was what one could presume to have been a street before the city was destroyed.
Rusted vehicles with overgrown moss covering them were parked haphazardly over there.
The towering trees above cast dense, gloomy shadows over the place.
The temperature was extremely misty, and visibility over there was low.
There, a group of expert Rank 3 warriors were in trouble.
The team leader watched as several expert Rank 3 chaotic beasts ravaged his team members to shreds before him.
Affinity attacks didn’t even work.
"Shit..." He cursed. "We are done for. Coming here was a bad idea. This place is a death trap."
The man said as a large buffalo the size of a skyscraper approached him. The buffalo had blood staining its mouth. Each time it opened and closed its razor-sharp teeth, one would hear the screams of several warriors being chewed like snacks.
The buffalo was enjoying itself.
Why were these humans so stupid?
Did they think they could just walk into this place and leave unharmed? Were they not aware that they were precious snacks for chaotic beasts, and eating them made chaotic beasts stronger?
The buffalo’s ferocious eyes locked gazes with the man.
He felt as insignificant as an ant.
He surmised that this creature was a legendary Rank 3 chaotic beast.
He was done for if he remained here.
With each step the chaotic beast took, several trees fell apart and got destroyed.
Lightning snaked across the legendary Rank 3 buffalo’s figure.
The man didn’t even bother trying to launch an attack in retaliation.
A torrent of ice danced beneath his feet as he fled the place.
The lightning snaking across the figure of the legendary Rank 3 armored buffalo increased.
The creature’s figure disappeared from its current location, leaving charred trees and corpses of other weaker creatures in its wake. It was so fast that it moved like an azure dot. Aiden only saw an azure streak of light. The creature crossed several distances in an instant and appeared close to the man with the ice affinity who was fleeing.
The man suddenly felt like a large shadow had been cast on him.
Then he felt his vision going dark.
"No... it’s like some sort of space is closing in around me," he thought.
Soon, he couldn’t see anything anymore.
His screams echoed across the place as the buffalo’s mouth closed around him. The creature’s teeth ground him into meat paste. The beast had an expression of glee in its eyes.
As expected of human meat. It was so delicious.
Aiden sighed.
"It’s really a good thing I didn’t navigate this place aimlessly. I could have been that guy," Aiden thought.
By now, he had already absorbed the blood essence of the dead chaotic beasts in the area, and that of the warriors the chaotic beasts, including the ones the legendary Rank 3 buffalos had killed.
The buffalo turned and looked at its pack.
It made some animalistic sounds, urging them to follow it.
Those snakes thought they could claim the energy core veins for themselves.
Unlike humans, chaotic beasts could eat energy cores of their kind to grow stronger.
It was time to teach those snakes a big lesson.
The buffalo strode forward with its titanic entourage following it.
"They should be nearing the poison-melded crimson threads now in that vicinity," Aiden thought.
The legendary Rank 3 buffalo suddenly ceased walking.
It didn’t sense or feel anything graze its figure.
What the hell was going on?
Had some rival beast in the territory set a trap for it?
It didn’t understand why this was happening.
Why was its vision waning?
Why was it suddenly growing weak?
If it died, what would happen to the rest of its pack?
These were its last thoughts before its eyes turned bloodshot and its body turned completely greenish.
It fell down like a colossal mountain. It crashed into a nearby skyscraper, causing the skyscraper to also fall apart before it fell on the ground.
Cracks and crevices spread across the moss, rain-covered floor.
Then several dull thuds also resounded across the place.
Its pack also met the same fate it met.
They all died with bloodshot eyes and greenish skin.
A legendary Rank 3 chaotic beast and hundreds of expert Rank 3 chaotic beasts were dead all because of a perfectly engineered trap by a man who didn’t even have to risk his safety to get them killed.
Their colossal corpses were spread across the place.
Aiden quietly absorbed their blood essence from the tree.
"I need to intensify the conflict between the warriors and the chaotic beasts," Aiden thought.
"From what I was able to observe from the buffalo, it was headed towards the direction of the energy core vein with its pack. I read that chaotic beasts are not like humans who can only use energy cores for industrial purposes. Beasts can actually swallow energy cores and digest them to grow stronger. I should harvest the energy cores from the energy core mines and use a few to incite the chaotic beasts and warriors against each other. They will kill each other and I will be able to absorb their blood essence," Aiden thought.
"It’s a pity my storage bracelet can’t absorb objects from that distance. If I also try to use the microscopic crimson threads to harvest the energy cores and bring them near so that I can keep them in my storage bracelet, the energy cores will draw beasts and warriors to my location, even if I can’t be seen. I can’t risk that. I need to personally head there and harvest the energy cores.
With my legendary Rank 3 invisibility bracelet with a very high effect, not even the draconic mutated snakes guarding the energy cores can notice me. I will just harvest them quickly, slip back here, and use a few of the energy cores to incite killing among the beasts and the warriors."
A glint of calmness flashed through Aiden’s eyes as he disappeared from the tree.
