Ascension Of The Blood Supreme
Chapter 202. Avoid the theatrics
The hoodie cap came off.
Everyone was already paying attention to the altercation between the hooded man and the retired crime lord.
The moment they saw his face, they froze.
Black hair, blue eyes.
That face...
The Lodgekeeper...
The man did not move. He did not look at the former crime lord’s daughter. He simply put his hoodie cap on.
"This wind is not helping," The Lodgekeeper muttered as he returned to looking at his phone.
However, the same could not be said for everyone else.
This man was a terrifying madman. The most powerful man in the Kahra Desert.
Someone who could slaughter thousands without batting an eye, like it was a regular chore.
The atmosphere was so pensive that many were suffocating as they looked at him.
Many realized that they were fortunate that when they were talking about him earlier, they didn’t badmouth him.
What if he decided to kill them in a fit of anger?
Chills crawled up their spines.
"We greet the Lodgekeeper."
Everyone unknowingly performed a waist-length bow to the most terrifying man in the Kahra Desert at the same time.
Aiden was surprised by this. Why were these people being so cringe?
"Please, you don’t need to be so uptight," he replied politely.
But each word he spoke caused their hearts to thrum in fear.
This man was unpredictable and dangerous. He could be saying thank you to you and be killing you at the same time. This was what made him so terrifying.
"We wouldn’t dare, Senior."
"Senior, please... there’s no need to stand at the back of the line."
"Senior, kindly move to the front."
"Senior, there’s a seat at the front. This junior will stand up for you to sit as we wait for the transport."
Everyone spoke with a shaky voice, sweat streaming down their faces.
The Lodgekeeper simply nodded.
He didn’t see anything wrong with standing at the back. It was simply a queue. But he didn’t have anything to lose.
"Thank you," he said, then walked to the front of the queue and sat down in a chair one of the city enforcers leaving the city was previously sitting in.
"Pleasure is ours, Senior."
"You are welcome, Senior."
"We are honored, Senior."
The replies carried trembling voices full of fear, admiration, and respect.
Expert rank 2 warriors were cowering before the Lodgekeeper like a bunch of ants.
The sight would leave anyone shocked.
The children of the retired crime lord felt their legs grow weak—especially the one who had insulted the City Lord earlier and called him weak.
In fact, she was so scared that she even peed on herself.
She had lost control of her bladder.
Her father, in particular, realized that the person he had apologized to earlier after almost offending was the City Lord?
The most powerful man in the Kahra Desert?
The Lodgekeeper?
No... he had to salvage this situation, or else... his entire family and himself would be erased in the blink of an eye...
Pa!!!!
Suddenly, a slapping sound reverberated across the place.
Everyone turned to look at the man.
The daughter who insulted the Lodgekeeper earlier had a swollen cheek as tears streamed across her face.
She had also peed on herself in fear of the Lodgekeeper.
Many smirked knowingly.
They knew what was happening.
This man was trying to appease the Lodgekeeper for what his daughter did. Doing this to his daughter would at least appease the Lodgekeeper and prevent him from killing him and his children in a fit of anger. Smart man.
His other children stood by the side, overwhelmed by fear.
"How dare you! Do you know who you just offended?" The man handed his daughter another slap, dragged her by the hair as she screamed in tears, asking herself why she could not keep her mouth shut.
She could not blame her father for what was happening. She may have been a haughty teenager, but she was not stupid.
The man she had spoken against was the most terrifying man in the Kahra Desert. He had even killed one of her siblings recently.
He could kill thousands by taking a walk in the park. Because of her actions, she, alongside her father and siblings, could all die.
So her father had every right to be so angry that, for the first time in the past 18 years of her life, he actually slapped her.
Finally, her father let her go.
She currently lay at the feet of the Lodgekeeper.
Her siblings now understood that they should never think their father was invincible and that they could throw their weight around.
To think they were angry at the Lodgekeeper of all people?
In fact, had their sister not blurted out what she said earlier, they would have done it. To them, their father was a terrifying warrior who should not lower himself to the position of a weak person.
But they had been wrong. A book should never be judged by its appearance. Because of their sister’s arrogance, the Lodgekeeper’s decision after her apology could spell the fate of their family.
The onlookers also observed everything with quiet smirks playing on their lips.
This was why parents had to train their kids well. The father could have avoided this situation had his daughter been wise enough to keep her mouth shut.
Serves her right.
The lady looked up at the City Lord, pressing his phone without looking at her.
"Apologize to the Senior, right now!"
The man shouted at his daughter.
He was also about to bow before the Lodgekeeper.
"That’s not necessary, sir," The Lodgekeeper replied politely.
"Let’s avoid theatrics."
That was all he said.
The Lodgekeeper didn’t say anything else.
Instead of feeling relieved that the Lodgekeeper had spared his daughter, the former crime lord felt so small.
He and his family were too inconsequential for the man to even be offended with them.
From the beginning of the altercation, they were not even in the man’s sight.
They were like ants to him.
"Thank you, Senior," he bowed politely.
His dumbstruck daughter, who felt like she had been given a second chance at life, bowed.
"Thank you, Senior." She stood up and wiped her snot away, completely ignoring the crowd covering their noses due to the smell of urine on her, and snickering at her for her humiliation.
The Lodgekeeper simply nodded with polite indifference and returned to what he was doing on his phone.
Her siblings, and every other haughty young person in the queue accompanying their parents, had learned a lesson that would preserve their lives in the future.
On Endra, a powerhouse could be anywhere. Sometimes someone powerful could even look extremely unassuming. The Lodgekeeper, for instance, looked like an ordinary young man.
One should be careful who they offend. Appearances could be deceiving.
Also, just because your parents are powerful does not mean they are invincible and you can use your background to bully others.
Everyone stared at the Lodgekeeper once again.
This man was truly terrifying. He did not even need to act against those who offended him to prove a point. He didn’t need to. His terrifying reputation had done it for him.
