Chapter 525: Chapter 258: Two Women Fighting Over a Man, Peak Middle Stage

At that moment, Sun Yuzhi’s suppressed fury finally erupted.

Her killing intent was no longer hidden, and her tyrannical aura surged.

The crimson longsword let out a shrill hum, resonating with her seething Mental Realm. Streams of sharp Sword Qi filled the air, weaving together and engulfing an area of dozens of feet in the blink of an eye.

’The Phoenix Yin Gu King brought her great gains? What was that supposed to mean?’

’And that her man, Chen Sheng, was oh-so-rewarding?’

’This bitch! It wasn’t enough to kill; she had to twist the knife!’

’And after getting everything she wanted, she still had the gall to play innocent in front of me!’

SHIIING—!

With a sound like tearing silk, the bluestone beneath Sun Yuzhi’s feet shattered. She moved like a crimson blur, bringing a sky full of Sword Qi down as she charged ferociously at Lan Yufei.

"Hmph!"

Instead of retreating, Lan Yufei advanced, unleashing the full might of her late-stage Profound Mastery cultivation.

Within a radius of dozens of feet, the air violently twisted and tore.

The ground trembled. Bluestone slabs cracked inch by inch before being pulverized into dust by the Gang Qi, sending dirt and dry leaves flying everywhere.

The two immense forces clashed violently, producing a chorus of dull roars and piercing shrieks.

Lan Yufei chose to meet her head-on.

’Ever since last night, the insult of being called a "bitch" had festered within her. Now, she had been humiliated to her face yet again. If she backed down now, wouldn’t she forever be beneath Sun Yuzhi?’

’Now, with Chen Sheng’s promise in hand, Lady Lan felt she had the backing she needed. She was determined to put Sun Yuzhi in her place and make her face reality.’

’She couldn’t handle the legitimate daughter of the Nie Family, but surely she could put Sun Yuzhi in her place?’

’She would make Sun Yuzhi understand that from now on, in this household, she, Lan Yufei, was in no way her inferior.’

Sun Yuzhi, for her part, was burning with rage. She was determined to crush this bitch who had stolen her opportunity and was now vying for status!

"Stop!"

A deep, commanding voice boomed like thunder, forcibly halting the imminent clash between the two women.

Both Sun Yuzhi and Lan Yufei froze and turned to look.

Chen Sheng was standing at the threshold of the guest room, though neither had seen him arrive. He wore black robes, his hands clasped behind his back, his upright figure silhouetted by the morning light.

But his usual easygoing expression was gone, replaced by clear displeasure and a scrutinizing gaze.

His gaze, sharp as lightning, swept over them, carrying an undeniable pressure.

He knew they would have friction over the Gu King, but he hadn’t expected the conflict to escalate so quickly that they would come to blows in the blink of an eye.

"If you want to fight, you’ll have plenty of chances later."

Chen Sheng’s brow furrowed, his voice deep and unhappy.

"This is the Ten Thousand Poisons Sect, not the Martial Arts Arena. Are you trying to cause a scene? Do you want to attract a crowd and let everyone watch you two fight out of jealousy?"

He could tolerate minor squabbles between his women.

But he would not tolerate them being so shortsighted as to let personal resentment jeopardize the bigger picture.

Much less air their private affairs in public, making themselves a laughingstock.

Hesitation flashed in Lan Yufei’s eyes.

’If they fought now, the commotion would be enormous. It would surely attract the attention of the sect’s members.’

’When word got out that she, the Sect Leader, had stayed the night with a man only to get into a fight first thing in the morning... what would be left of her authority?’

’How could she face Ke’Er?’

Weighing the pros and cons, Lady Lan was the first to retract her Gang Qi. She looked at Chen Sheng, her eyes filled with a perfectly calibrated expression of grievance as she spoke first:

"She started it! She called me a bitch and kept insulting me, pushing me into a corner!"

"Bullshit! You’re the bitch who started it! You were gloating and couldn’t help but provoke me!"

Seeing her play the victim, Sun Yuzhi’s anger became uncontrollable.

"You see? She’s still so arrogant and domineering. Has she ever shown me a shred of respect?"

Lan Yufei’s voice was cold, as if she were asking him to be the judge.

"You—!"

"Enough."

Chen Sheng cut Sun Yuzhi off, his gaze landing on her face, which was flushed with anger.

"Yuzhi, stand down for now. Don’t be impulsive."

Sun Yuzhi stared at Chen Sheng, a flicker of disappointment in her bright, sharp eyes. Her voice trembled slightly.

"You... are you taking this bitch’s side now?"

"Enough with the ’bitch’ insults!"

Before Chen Sheng could answer, Lan Yufei snorted. She whipped a piece of paper from her sleeve, flicking it open with a sharp SNAP. Her finger tapped the fresh ink.

"Take a good look. It’s right here in black and white. Don’t you dare try to pull rank on me just because you came first."

"You’re not even his legitimate wife, but even if you were, my status would be no less than yours! Chen Sheng wrote this himself and promised me personally!"

"That’s enough out of you, too. Put it away!"

Chen Sheng’s gaze hardened as he turned to Lan Yufei, his voice laced with a clear warning.

Showing her that document now was just adding fuel to the fire.

Lan Yufei pouted. Seeing that Chen Sheng wasn’t bluffing, she resentfully folded the letter of promise and tucked it back into her sleeve.

But Sun Yuzhi looked as if the words on the page had physically wounded her. She stared blankly at Lan Yufei’s movements, falling silent.

Bitterness, indignation, grievance, and a pang of betrayal churned violently in her chest.

She had never imagined that Chen Sheng would truly place Lan Yufei on equal footing with her.

"Mother?"

Ouyang Ke’s confused voice cut in.

He had sensed the unusual fluctuations and hurried over. His gaze swept from the bristling Sun Yuzhi to his mother’s unnatural expression and then to the grim-faced Chen Sheng, his mind filled with suspicion.

"What... what’s going on here?"

Lan Yufei’s heart skipped a beat, but she quickly composed herself, forcing a stiff smile as she hurried to explain:

"It’s nothing important, Ke’Er, don’t worry. Just now... Sun Zhenfu and I were just joking around a bit. It was all a misunderstanding."

Right now, her greatest fear was Ouyang Ke seeing through her lie.

"You..."

Hearing this, a wicked fire shot through Sun Yuzhi. She opened her mouth, about to expose all of his mother’s ’glorious deeds’ and her current hypocrisy.

But Chen Sheng was faster.

In a flash, he was at Sun Yuzhi’s side. He wrapped an arm naturally around her slender waist, which was stiff with anger, and felt her tremble at his touch.

He gave her a placating, pleading look and shook his head slightly.

Then he turned to Lady Lan and Ouyang Ke, his tone even.

"A minor disagreement. My apologies for the scene. Sun Zhenfu is not feeling well and needs some quiet. Perhaps it would be best if you two returned for now."

"Er... this..."

Ouyang Ke looked at Sun Yuzhi’s ice-cold expression, then at his mother’s strange one, feeling that the atmosphere was utterly bizarre.
