Chapter 505: Chapter 251: Madam, You Wouldn’t Want... (Part 2)
Lady Lan rolled up her flowing sleeve, revealing a wrist as fair as frost and snow.
Upon it, a silvery-white, exquisitely delicate butterfly tattoo was clearly visible, exuding a faint chill and a unique Spiritual Charm.
In the next instant, a thought stirred in both their minds, and they simultaneously communed with the Gu Kings within their bodies.
"HMMMM—!"
An almost inaudible hum, one that nonetheless pierced straight to the Divine Soul, emanated from Chen Sheng’s arm.
The golden cicada imprint suddenly flared to life.
As light swirled around it, a thumb-sized Dragon-Singing Celestial Cicada, its body looking as if carved from gold and jade and its gossamer wings etched with arcane patterns, slowly emerged from beneath his skin.
It hovered an inch above his arm, wreathed in a Golden Light, emanating a vast aura of pure, scorching yang, tinged with a hint of draconic might.
At almost the exact same moment, the silver butterfly marking on Lady Lan’s arm burst into brilliant light, a cold aura spilling from it.
A Jade Butterfly of similar size, its body a translucent silver-white as if sculpted from ice, fluttered gracefully into existence. As a silver radiance flowed around it, it exuded a feminine, glacial charm, one that did not lack for noble and magnificent beauty.
It was the Simurgh Phoenix Jade Butterfly!
The two Gu had appeared!
The instant they left their hosts’ arms and their auras were unleashed without restraint...
BOOM!
...a resonance and agitation far more violent than before erupted ferociously!
Chen Sheng felt the blood in his arm surge violently. The Dragon-Singing Celestial Cicada’s golden wings beat frantically, unleashing a series of high, quavering hums.
A scorching, masculine torrent surged up the Meridians of his arm and slammed into his chest, making him gasp. His face instantly flushed red, and the muscles in his arm bulged again as thick veins popped into view.
The impact on Lady Lan was even more terrifying.
The Simurgh Phoenix Jade Butterfly, as if answering an irresistible summons, quivered its silver wings madly, emitting a clear, musical cry that was somehow also deeply unsettling.
A bizarre torrent, far more ferocious than before and mixing extreme, frigid yin with an inexplicable heat, exploded from her Dantian, instantly sweeping through every inch of her Meridians and overwhelming all of her senses!
"Ah...!"
Lady Lan could no longer hold it in. She let out a short, sweet gasp as her delicate body convulsed, as if she had been shocked.
The blush that had just begun to fade returned with astonishing speed, flooding her cheeks and neck, and even creeping down beneath her collar.
Her eyes instantly misted over, her vision blurring.
The tingling weakness that originated from the depths of her soul intensified, making her go limp as she nearly slid from her chair.
She was forced to grip the armrests, her fingertips digging so deeply into the wood that her knuckles turned white, just to keep from falling.
Yet her entire body began to tremble uncontrollably, her breath coming in hot, ragged gasps.
"Back!"
Seeing her state, Chen Sheng’s heart skipped a beat. ’Something bad will happen if this goes on.’ He immediately used his willpower to forcefully suppress the Gu, simultaneously activating a Secret Technique.
The Dragon-Singing Celestial Cicada let out a low, unwilling hum. The Golden Light around it retracted, and it transformed into a streak of light that vanished back into the cicada imprint on his arm. The turbulent energy in his blood slowly began to calm.
Lady Lan, relying on her immense willpower, gathered her nearly dissipated True Essence and forced it to envelop the wildly dancing Jade Butterfly.
The Simurgh Phoenix Jade Butterfly’s silvery luminescence flickered several times before it finally, and somewhat reluctantly, sank back into the butterfly mark on her arm.
However, even though the Gu Kings had been forcibly recalled, the strange, bone-deep reaction they had thoroughly aroused could not be calmed so easily.
Lady Lan covered her face with one sleeve while her other hand flew into a specific mudra, her fingers rapidly tapping a minor acupoint below her navel.
She channeled streams of pure, ice-cold True Essence into her body, trying to soothe and suppress the heat and tremors still stirring deep within.
But the trembling of her delicate frame was not so easily stopped.
"The Dragon Yang Gu King!"
"The Phoenix Yin Gu King!"
At this moment, the truth was laid bare.
Though Chen Sheng had known all along, he still managed to conjure a perfectly timed look of astonishment.
The horror in Lady Lan’s heart, however, was a raging storm that refused to be calmed.
Her suspicions were confirmed: the Dragon-Singing Celestial Cicada—far more domineering than her own Simurgh Phoenix Jade Butterfly and rumored to contain Dragon Blood Essence—had truly been tamed by Chen Sheng.
’How in the world did he manage that?’
The question spun uncontrollably through Lady Lan’s mind.
"I see."
Chen Sheng quickly wiped the astonishment from his face, his expression turning grave as he fixed his piercing gaze on Lady Lan, who was still struggling to catch her breath and compose herself.
"No wonder I couldn’t find a trace of the other Gu King in the Poison Flame Cave."
"It seems the Phoenix Yin Gu King was obtained by Sect Leader Lan long ago."
"You... you knew all along that a Yin and Yang pair of Gu Kings was hidden inside the Poison Flame Cave?"
Lady Lan struggled to suppress the cloying sweetness rising in her throat. Her voice, carrying a nearly imperceptible tremor, was sharp with shock as she pressed him.
"If that weren’t the case, why would I have insisted on entering the Poison Flame Cave?" Chen Sheng retorted calmly.
"Does Sect Leader Lan honestly believe that the Ten Thousand Poisons Sect, by its own power, could cultivate Gu Kings like the Dragon-Singing Celestial Cicada and the Simurgh Phoenix Jade Butterfly—creatures at the Heaven and Earth Treasures Level?"
Back in the Poison Flame Cave, when Chen Sheng and Sun Yuzhi first identified the Dragon-Singing Celestial Cicada, they had already speculated about this.
Since the Phoenix Yin Gu King was its mate, its rank would have to be comparable.
Miraculous insects possessing the Simurgh bloodline were exceedingly rare, and the Simurgh Phoenix Jade Butterfly was one of them.
Thus, the moment the silver butterfly appeared, Chen Sheng had known for sure.
Lady Lan was speechless and fell silent.
When she had first acquired her Gu King, she had indeed believed it to be a legacy left by an ancestor of the Ten Thousand Poisons Sect.
Afterward, however, she had scoured the sect’s archives and discreetly questioned numerous elders, yet not a single one knew of the Gu’s origin.
She had harbored doubts ever since.
Now, it seemed it truly wasn’t a treasure of her sect after all.
"Sect Leader Lan."
Seeing her silence, Chen Sheng knew she was mostly convinced. He dropped the pretense, his voice lowering.
"Let’s not mince words. This pair of Yin-Yang Gu Kings was, in fact, left behind by one of my elders. Now that the Phoenix Yin Gu King has fallen into your hands, Sect Leader... shouldn’t you be giving me an explanation?"
