Chapter 100: Chapter 99 - Invitation To Sleeping Together

After a long conversation about medical ointments and shopping plans, my mother fell asleep quickly on the bed, leaving me awake to continue writing my magic book. The thoughts I was writing in this magic book were starting to grow increasingly nonsensical.

Besides correcting some errors theories in beginner magic books with complicated grammar, I also discovered a new magic method called inverse magic. Transforming a Fireball, a hot ball that shoots rapidly toward its target, into a sharp ice bullet is technically and theoretically impossible.

But that’s what happened before: I imagined two different things in my head, and the active condition of magic using imagination proved that inverse magic theories.

The Great Goddess of this world has opened up all the possibilities of magic incantations in this world. As the author who created this novel’s world, I’ve been greatly helped by these possibilities.

However, it would be troublesome for me to understand the true essence of magic.

The rules, concepts, and logic of magic have evolved greatly in the world of this novel. The main characters will learn all of this at the Royal Academy in Belfast and encounter the various problems it entails.

In this alternative novel, the main character will take on the primary task of saving the world from a mind-boggling monster. They’re far more intelligent than normal humans and are a nuisance to hunt to extinction. The story I’m writing isn’t too dark and is quite normal. I mean, nothing essential is missing, other than the dramatic nuance.

There are several problems that end with a happy ending, for example, Master Reina, who survived until the end without being accused of being the main mastermind behind all the chaos at the Belfast Royal Academy.

Master Amagi also survived her family’s demotion and became the second-greatest witch after her mother. This intergenerational transition elevated her noble family’s standing to equal to Duke rank, though in terms of nobility rank, it was far below the Duke rank.

There’s nothing wrong with this novel’s alternative story; it’s just that... I still feel worried about the uncertain future that lies far ahead of me.

My presence as Liliana... is completely absent from this alternative story.

Who is Liliana?

What did Liliana do that she is not in my novel story?

I am the author of this novel world, and why am I possessing the body of a maid?

As far as I’m aware, there’s no definitive answer regarding Liliana’s inclusion in the main story. As the author who completed this novel, I’m actually confused by my presence as Liliana.

Fllaappp...

Fllaaappp...

The living holy magic book flapped its cover like a butterfly’s wings, its yellow eyes staring at me with a lot hidden question. The living magic book tried not to break my concentration before my handwriting was finished.

The quill in my hand scribbled a summary of the complex inverse magic technique. The explanation was stiff and sounded like a commoner’s ramblings, filled with impossible possibilities as I pondered the meaning of my existence as Liliana.

Srreettt...

Srrreettt...

I finished a new Chapter in my handwritten magic book and gave my hand a rest. This long piece felt like a ten-page essay without reading the book at all; it consisted purely of personal experiences packaged into an informal report. It was like a diary, but aimed at a deeper understanding of magic.

I stretched out my stiff back after sitting for so long. I felt the cool night breeze and watched the bright light of the sunflowers sway in the breeze.

The light was brighter than the magic lantern in my room, but for some reason it didn’t pique my mother’s curiosity.

She should be asking about the glowing sunflower plant growing next to our bedroom window, right?

But she ignored it, as if it was normal and had been happening from the start.

"Huuuffftt..." My breath felt heavy tonight, and my hands stretched up to relax after writing for a long time.

Krraakkk...

Krraakkk...

"Uh, I feel a lot older than forty," I said to break the silence tonight.

The living holy magic book flew and landed on top of my handwritten magic book; its yellow eyes seemed to read my handwriting as it flew beside me.

"With such complex thoughts written in your writing, I doubt your sanity more than your age," she said, sounding like a half-heartedly compliment.

I blinked, trying to keep my composure at the compliment. The peace that had existed between the holy magic book and the luminous sunflowers had only been established for a day.

If I were offended by that compliment, which could be interpreted as sarcasm, then the two of them would be at war again in my bedroom. I didn’t want to clean up the remains of sunflower seeds that exploded in the middle of the night.

"Why do you think like that?" I asked as I picked up the quill and wiped the tip with a dry cloth.

"Inverse magic theories... I haven’t heard of it in a long time. It’s a complicated magic that twists human logic, right?"

"Yup, quite interesting magic theories to write, right?" I replied proudly.

"It’s indeed a unique magic theories. However, it would be a big problem if a novice mage tried it. Your experience in casting inverse magic is probably just a coincidence, and your mana conditions match the type of magic to cast."

"Humm??" I stared at the holy magic book with a questioning gaze.

"Without sufficient imagination and mana... Casting inverse magic won’t happen, right?" I asked to understand the holy magic book’s important-sounding words.

"Failure in inverse magic is actually a blessing in disguise. The problem is imagining the other magic strongly enough to believe the invocation is correct. Thinking of Fireball as a sharp ice block hurtling through the air is very difficult. The worst-case scenario is that the novice mage runs out of mana quickly and falls unconscious after being depleted. At the very least, warn them not to learn it without a companion."

"Hmmm?? Come to think of it, what you said is true. I didn’t expect that before."

The dry tip of the quill was soaked again with black ink. I added an important note to the first Chapter, which showed this inverse magic technique, with a small warning. The dangers of mana depletion and fainting upon failure are clearly stated next to the Chapter title.

"With this, no crazy mage would practice inverse magic without a companion, right?" I asked myself.

"If there is, it’s definitely someone similar like you. I’ve seen the crazy training you’ve been through, and it make me speechless..."

"Uh, you saw my intensive training?"

"Yes, I saw it when the sunflower plant threw its explosive seeds to help you who were in trouble."

"Aaahhh... that one, huh?"

Suddenly, I remembered the help of the sunflower plant when facing the Head Maid’s surprise attack.

"That knife will be stuck in your head... if you fail to avoid it."

"Well, you’re not wrong if you think that’s crazy. I might be out of my mind after that intensive training is over." My mouth trembled as I agreed with her statement.

Only a crazy people would want to undergo that intensive training.

And that person was none other is... me.

I don’t know what will happen to me in the future; I’m ready to accept myself as a crazy maid.

"You just admit it like that?" asked the living magic book in a surprised tone.

"Because it really happened, right?" I replied, not denying it.

"What has happened to humans today? Why have they gone crazy like this? Where the moral humans who uphold justice and sanity gone?"

"Ugh, that’s a bit too far. There are still humans like that, but not many."

Taapp...

Taapp...

As I was conversing with the living sacred magic book, my ears caught the sound of small footsteps approaching my bedroom door. The shadows of the brightly glowing magic lanterns filled the gap between the doorframes, along with their shadows.

I immediately took out a folded paper containing the Fireball magic rune and prepared to throw it if they forced their way in.

"Talking about crazy people?"

"No crazy people would dare to do such a crazy thing in the residence of Duke Adelheid Von Blutfeld, right?" I ask to myself.

Toookkk... Toookkk...

Toookkk... Tooookk...

Four soft knocks sounded on my bedroom door, along with a small commotion. That alerted me to who it was.

"Amagi, what are you doing in this place? Leave before Liliana comes out!"

"What are you doing here too, Reina? I want you to go back to your room immediately and sleep soundly without interfering in my business with Liliana!"

It was nearing midnight. The two of them were still arguing after a day of training. The little girl’s tireless energy was truly terrifying.

Hahaha, that’s right, I’m also a little girl who can still stay up until midnight.

I sighed and walked towards my bedroom door while giving a small code to the holy magic book to lie quietly on the dressing table.

Krrrraaakkk...

My bedroom door slowly opened, revealing Master Amagi and Master Reina, arguing, while their arms tugging at each other to reach the handle door. They were both wearing their nightgowns, but they were a little bit loosen from their little argument earlier that pull each other hands.

Creekkk...

The sound of my bedroom door opening wide, they didn’t notice and were still busy locking each other’s hands.

My job as their maid doesn’t seem to be over as long as they not fall asleep, huh?

Sqquuuuesshh...

Sqquuuuesshhh...

I broke up their fight with a gentle pinch on the cheek, not too hard, but enough to break up their fight. Their explanations were halting, and I got most of the information that they wanted to sleep with me.

I could only sigh and agree, "Um, okay... but don’t do anything weird while I’m sleeping!"
