Damian stood perfectly still throughout the entire declaration, his expression unchanged, his posture relaxed despite the weight pressing down around him.

The Hooded One’s shrouded form shifted, that void-like darkness seeming to bore into him.

"Tell me, foolish mortal."

The question came out sharp and demanding.

"After knowing everything, after hearing the truth that has been buried for countless eras..."

A pause loaded with challenge.

"Who is the villain in this story?"

The words hung between them like a blade.

"Whose side is the evil one? The being who slaughtered Godkings and split reality itself? Or those of us who fight to prevent him from finishing what he started?"

Another pause, heavier than before.

"The one who forced the universe to cripple itself just to survive? Or those who’ve dedicated our existence to making sure it never happens again?"

The Hooded One’s hands spread wide.

"The Calamity who consumed the power of Time and Space themselves? Or the survivors who’ve spent eras trying to protect what remains?"

The questions built on each other, each one sharper than the last.

Silence fell across the dreamscape, absolute and crushing.

Damian remained still, his expression showing nothing, his stance unchanged.

The wind pulled at his crimson hair but he didn’t move to adjust it, didn’t shift his weight, didn’t offer any response whatsoever.

Just stood there in perfect calm, waiting.

The Hooded One’s presence expanded further, filling every corner of the dreamscape.

"Let me give you the answer Alessio already knew in his bones, the truth he lived by every day of his brutal existence."

The doubled voice became quiet but somehow carried more weight than any shout.

"There is no good or evil in this universe. There are no heroes or villains in the game being played."

A pause that felt like the world holding its breath.

"There is only power..."

The words stretched out, each syllable landing with terrible certainty.

"And those too weak to claim it."

The declaration echoed across the rooftop, carrying weight that made reality itself seem to tremble.

The Hooded One’s hand extended once more, that palm offered upward.

"Now, the universe itself has acknowledged you as a True Demon. Do you understand the significance of that? Do you grasp what it means?"

The shrouded form stepped closer, the movement deliberate.

"We are fated to be Master and Disciple. The cosmos itself has written our connection into its fundamental structure."

The hand remained extended, patient and unwavering.

"So come, Damian Bloodworth. Kneel before me and accept what was always meant to be."

The voice became almost gentle, carrying promise.

"Together we shall accomplish extraordinary things! Together we shall reshape the future into something glorious! Together we shall prove that Fate is absolute!"

The offer hung in the frozen air, vast and terrible in its completeness.

Damian remained silent, his crimson eyes tracking the extended hand without moving toward it.

His mind turned over everything he’d heard, everything he’d learned, everything he’d come to understand across the past few days that felt like years.

The Beggar’s past, the cosmic history, the game being played across eras, the choices that had led to this moment.

Pieces clicking together with cold precision, forming a picture that made terrible sense.

Then his whisper emerged, soft enough that it should have been lost in the wind.

"Duality."

The single word carried across the dreamscape like a stone dropped into still water.

The Hooded One’s shrouded form shifted slightly.

"Hmm?"

The question came out curious, almost intrigued.

Damian’s eyes closed, his expression becoming peaceful despite everything that had happened.

"The greatest truth of existence itself, the one principle that governs everything from the smallest particle to the vastest cosmic force..."

His voice remained quiet but gained strength with each word.

"Is duality."

His head tilted back slightly, as if feeling warmth from a sun that didn’t exist in this dreamscape.

"If there is day, then there must be night. If there is light, then there must be darkness. If there is salvation, then there must be damnation..."

His hands rose, spreading slightly as if holding something invisible.

"The universe is like a coin with two sides. One cannot exist without the other, cannot be defined without the other, cannot have meaning without the other."

His voice dropped lower, becoming almost meditative.

"And anyone who experiences one side for too long, who dwells in a single extreme without balance..."

His hands lowered back to his sides.

"Forgets that the other side exists at all."

Silence fell around them, heavy with implication.

"Alessio is my darkness."

The words came out simple and absolute.

"Damian is my light."

Another pause, weighted with meaning.

"I am both..."

His voice became quieter.

"Yet I am neither."

The declaration sat between them like a riddle that answered itself.

Then Damian’s eyes opened, crimson blazing with intensity.

"I..."

His whisper carried weight that pressed against reality itself.

"Am True Demon."

The title fell from his lips with finality that made the air crack.

Just simple acceptance of what he’d become and what the universe itself had recognized: The Balance that holds contradictions together.

Damian turned toward the Hooded One, his gaze finding that void-like darkness without fear or hesitation.

"Thank you, Hooded One."

The words came out genuine, carrying gratitude that seemed strange given everything that had just been revealed.

"Before you brought me here, before our conversation..."

His expression showed peace mixed with understanding.

"I didn’t understand what that title meant. What it represented, what it acknowledged and what it made me."

A slight incline of his head, respect offered without submission.

"But I have my answer now."

His posture straightened, his hands settling at his sides.

"And I refuse to join your side."

The words landed with quiet finality.

The Hooded One remained perfectly still for three heartbeats.

Then the extended hand lowered completely, withdrawing back beneath the cloak.

"Don’t you understand?"

The doubled voice emerged strained, carrying frustration.

"All of this is the Beggar’s manipulation! Every movement of your existence, every choice you’ve made, every path you’ve walked!"

The shrouded form stepped closer, the movement sharp and agitated.

"Just like me, he has brought you nothing but suffering! He destroyed your family, shattered your peace, forced you into a game you never asked to play!"

The voice rose, building toward something approaching fury.

"He brought you nothing but pain and loss and endless struggle! And you still choose to stand on his side after–"

"There’s something you’re mistaken about."

Damian’s interruption came soft but absolute, cutting through the Hooded One’s building tirade.

His crimson eyes blazed brighter, carrying conviction that made the air itself feel heavier.

"I stand on no one’s side."

A pause that stretched into eternity.

Then his whisper emerged, quiet but somehow filling the entire dreamscape.

"I am... the side."

The words landed with weight that made existence itself seem to hold its breath.

Damian’s hands settled behind his back, his posture becoming perfectly still.

"After all, the game between the Beggar and Fate has already ended."

His voice remained level and controlled.

"Now the board is ours for the taking."

Silence crashed down across the dreamscape like the universe itself had stopped breathing.

The Hooded One stood frozen, that void-like darkness offering no response.

And somewhere between dream and waking, between the cosmic forces that had shaped reality for eras beyond counting...

The youngest player had just claimed his seat at the table.
