Chapter 2071: Let The World Knows (3)

Remin was caught off guard by Tang Shaoyang’s move to attack them first. However, he maintained his composure and returned to the table for a meeting, for another discussion. Just like how Havel refused to be the leader for this war, many from the Shadow Star refused to acknowledge him as well.

It was to be expected, and that was why the army was split into seven groups. The one who attacked was the force to the north of their main base. The army there was the second biggest among the others, and he was not worried about quickly sending reinforcements. They should be able to hold Tang Shaoyang for a while.

He and his trusted eight friends returned to the table for a meeting. They were discussing their plan on how they are going to take back the city from Tang Shaoyang. The other should have received the same reports, and he wanted to hear what his competitors had to say about the situation.

He didn’t really care what happened in the north. Even if somehow Tang Shaoyang wiped them out, that would be good for him, getting rid of one of the few competitors to take the Shadow Lord’s seat.

Communication was established with the other five forces, and none of them talked about sending reinforcements to the north. In fact, they purposely took their time.

The actual discussion was about who would make their move first against Tang Shaoyang. That was the actual reason why they didn’t attack the city right away, not taking it back right away, which gave Tang Shaoyang a chance to make such a move on them.

No one wanted to make the first move. No one wanted to make the sacrifice. They sent their people, telling the others that they were all waiting for more information, but that was just their tactic to delay their attack. They made an excuse that they didn’t have enough information to attack the city.

Not even ten minutes had passed since they held an “emergency” meeting, Remin received messages. It was messages, more than one message. He received seven messages consecutively. When one received a barrage of messages in this situation, he knew this was an important message.

Remin checked the messages right away, and all the messages came from the place attacked by Tang Shaoyang. The first message was asking for reinforcement, asking where the reinforcements were now. Then the last three messages were scolding him, maybe not just him, but all the receivers of the message.

It told them how stupid they were if they still thought of fighting for the succession. All kinds of curse words and more words to describe how foolish they were were used in the message. Then, in the last message, it told them how much time Tang Shaoyang needed to wipe out the army in the north.

Remin and the other eight people at the same table, slamming the table as they all stood almost in sync, “Get our people ready. We will move right away to join.”

Meanwhile, Havel grinned ear to ear while reading the message. He also received the same messages since those messages were sent to the leading figures in the Shadow Star after Geralt, the Shadow Lord.

He was happy how things turned around because that meant he still had a chance to take the Shadow Lord’s seat. He got up from the chair to follow Remin, “We should contact the Ten Stars Accord. We at least need their help to break the isolation.”

That was a sound idea. If they could unseal what blocked the teleportation, they would be able to recall all their people back to Allavaine. That would help them tremendously, and that would help Havel as well. He could get his people back to raise his chances of being the Shadow Lord.

“No! We can’t let the Ten Stars Accords know what happened here until we resolve all of this!” Remin disagreed. The Shadow Star would lose face if they asked for help from the Ten Stars Accord. They would lose the reputation they had built up in the Ten Stars Accord if they could not handle one person.

Havel shrugged as they got out of the tent together. Just three steps away from their tents, they received another barrage of messages. This time, they all received more than ten messages, including from the same person who told them about what happened to the north force.

Tang Shaoyang was attacking another force, down toward the west from the north. That meant Tang Shaoyang was just one city away from where they were. Sure enough, not long after that, he got another message that the city closest to him was getting attacked.

“Get ready to move to Antona! Our enemies are attacking the force in Antona. We must help them! Move your ass and get ready!”

Remin’s voice echoed throughout the whole camp. It was not that long ago that they set up all the camps because they were told that they might stay here for a few days. However, no one complained about the order in contrast with the earlier instruction. They could tell the urgency in the tone.

They all left the camp they set up, leaving the camp as it was as they marched toward Antona. Different from them, the forces in Antona decide to stay inside the city instead of camping outside like them. Because Antona was much closer to the captured city, while the city where Remin got the supply was farther, that was the reason why.

Losing another city to a single person would put their reputation in the dirt. If the news that a single person caused so much mess in their domain, who wanted to hire them? Who wanted to hire them if the God Realm knew they could not even protect their own domain?

No matter how much Remin wanted the Shadow Lord’s seat, the future of the Shadow Star was much more important. What was the point of sitting in a ruined seat?

Remin was keeping a watch on his message inbox and was marching with his force. He was waiting for more updates, but he didn’t send a message to ask for an update as well. A single distraction in a fight between God Ranks could be a disaster.

Remin and the others knew too well not to send messages, asking for updates. It was supposed to be a half-hour to an hour march, but Antona City came into sight after ten minutes of marching. However, it was too late because they saw fire blazing from the city.

The proud Antona’s city wall crumbled as smoke billowed from the city. The worst part was the fact that they could not hear anything from the city, totally silent. No screams or fighting could be heard. It was a total silence, only the breeze and the cracking sounds from the fire could be heard.
