Chapter 1964: Best Plan Ever
Chapter 1964: Best Plan Ever
Tang Shaoyang watched his team going out of the building as they were lowering their heads. They looked like a bunch of children who felt guilty after making a mistake. The last one to leave was Khaya. The snow elf remained in her seat, looking as guilty as everyone else.
He wondered why she stayed, but he realized that she might blame herself for agreeing to the stupid plan. One thing he knew about Khaya, she was not the careless one on the team. In fact, she was the most cautious despite being the second strongest after him in the team. With her experiences leading her own team before, she would not come up with such a flawed plan.
“I understand what you are trying to do. You are trying to win them over because I can tell that not everyone agrees with you being the temporary leader. That’s why you are agreeing to this plan, but I want you to know that your team’s safety should be your priority more than anything else. You can gain their recognition another time when we are not in such a dangerous place.”
Khaya’s shoulders slumped as if confirming his words. He was spot on when he said she was agreeing to the plan because she did not want to antagonize the team.
“I know it’s wrong, but I think it should be safe if it’s just a temporary split until we clear the calamity around the base. However, I didn’t reconsider the fact that we have so little information about this abandoned world despite the Administrator’s several failed attempts to clear this world. I—”
“I am glad if you realize your mistake,” Tang Shaoyang cut her off as he stood up, “I will entrust their safety in your hands, and remember, our team safety comes first before the mission. We can always come back and try it again, but we can’t bring the dead… back.”
He hesitated in the end because he had tried and done it before. The price was too steep, and he was unsure if he was willing to pay it for his team member yet. He was conflicted because if he had something like that, he wanted to keep it for his family. Because he did not want to face such a conflict, it would be better if his team did not die in front of him.
Tang Shaoyang left the room because he was not good with words. That was the best he could come up with to comfort Khaya. The team was still in front of the building, and they straightened their backs when they noticed he came out of the building while still lowering their heads.
“If any of you put your team in danger, you will be out of the mission. I will send you all back and depending on what kind of actions you do to put your team in danger, I might kick you out of the team. I don’t need a member that endangers the team’s safety!”
His tone remained calm and neutral, but everyone tensed up when he said he would kick them from the team. It was rare for an Executive Administrator to have an active team and getting kicked out from an Executive Administrator’s team was the last thing they wanted, especially if Administrator Class was so important for them.
“Good luck with the mission, and I will see you all alive at the end of the mission!”
Tang Shaoyang used Blink and disappeared from their sights instantly. In a few seconds, he was a few kilometers away from the fort. He was standing below the tree where a black raven and a black eagle stood on the opposite branch. He raised his right eyebrow because he sensed a little hostility from both.
While the others were clearing the fort and rebuilding the fort, he was not idle. He sent three spirits to scout the area for him, and they had confirmed the area was safe. When he sent them out, he did not sense the hostility from them.
“So… what happened to them, Baccara?” Tang Shaoyang decided to ask the neutral party who he sent with these two. The black phoenix was lying down like a human napping on the highest branch of a tree in her bird form.
“It’s the usual stupid rivalry just like your spirit skeleton and your undead skeleton. They are competing who can gather information the quickest. If you ask me who started it…” Baccara paused as if she almost said something she should not have.
Tang Shaoyang had good eyes and ears, something he developed naturally after hearing and looking at the reports his people delivered when he was back at home. He had seen a lot of rivalry, not just his spirits because it happened within the various divisions of his empire.
“I see…” Tang Shaoyang squinted his eyes at Baccara, “Now let’s hear about your report first, Baccara. What did you find?”
The Black Phoenix stood up and turned her back against her master as if she were watching the surroundings. After a few moments of silence, she finally spoke, “I spotted a few calamities coming closer. You can hear their reports first while I am securing the area!”
The Black Phoenix disappeared instantly as a fierce wind blasted the tree, leaving a trail of black fire.
It was Baccara who started this stupid rivalry so she did not need to scout the surroundings. He let out a sigh and shook his head, “What did I expect when I sent that phoenix to scout the area?” he muttered in a low voice.
Baccara felt the scouting job was not for her because of her race. She was a phoenix and scouting was considered a lowly job, not for a noble race like them. That was his guess and most likely true.
Jet the Sky of Abyss and Zephyr the Black Wind Calamity seemed to realize that Baccara played them as well. However, they had their own pride and refused to admit that they were being played. This rivalry would continue for a long time, or maybe they would not stop even after they were resurrected.
“I can’t be the judge because I didn’t see who finished the scouting first—”
“I came here 0.01 second faster than that corpse signaler!” The black eagle, Zephyr the Black Wind Calamity was the first one to say, “I won!”
“No! That tiny eagle is lying. I won by 0.001 second!” The Black Raven, Jet the Sky of Abyss immediately retorted.
Both spirits had come up with their own nickname for each other. Something he did not expect from both. But again, considering they had been living together with Radiance, he was not surprised if the ancient iceman influenced them.
“Stop!” Zephyr was about to say something but stopped when Tang Shaoyang told him so, “As I said, I can’t be the judge because I was not here to see who came back first. However, I have someone who can be the judge.”
Tang Shaoyang immediately recalled the three spirits back to the Spirit World.
“Your judge is Baccara since she was here when you finished scouting the area. But before Baccara decides the winner, I want to hear your report first.”
As soon as Zephyr and Jet finished their reports, giving him a clear picture of what he should expect. He immediately cut off his connection to the Spirit World. He did not want to hear the argument as he focused on the surroundings with his Chaos Eyes.
He was surprised to find out that the calamity around the fort was normal. It was too normal for a dangerous abandoned world. Most of the calamity was the Beast Calamity with minimum mutation. A tiger with six legs, a giant chicken with the head of a snapping turtle, an elephant with a turtle shell and two legs, and more.
As weird as they were compared to the normal beast, these calamities were normal considering what he encountered in the previous abandoned world.
Tang Shaoyang found one of the calamities, and he could not feel danger from it.
“I should have asked Arion before leaving,” He clicked his tongue. He wanted to know how they chose the fort for their main base operation. Was it based on a danger level around them or it was random or there were any factors to it.
If this was the safest area, he wanted to know how they determined the danger level because he would like to go to the most dangerous area. The place he was looking for might be in the most dangerous area.
“What is it again? Thousand Halls? Thousand Vows?” Tang Shaoyang tried to recall the place he was looking for, “Thousand Vows Pavilion… Yep, that’s one.”
He had several plans in mind for how to find this place quickly, but there was nothing that beat his initial plan. His initial plan was simple and straightforward, brute force. He would summon all his spirits and skeletons, letting them kill their way into all directions until they found Thousand Vows Pavilion.
That was the most efficient plan. Not only would he find his destination faster, but he might be able to clean the world faster as well. On top of that, the administrator would suffer fewer casualties or maybe no casualties since his spirits would take care of most of the calamities. On top of that, he would get the bodies, and his skeleton army would have more bones to upgrade the army. It was a win-win plan for everyone.
