Chapter 1944 - 1944: Hero (5)
“Let me handle this, Your Majesty!” Jovrick stepped forward, standing in front of Tang Shaoyang, and looked up at the meteors.
“He has gone insane! Help me set up a barrier!” The Sorcerer Monarchy Guild Master yelled out as she tried to form multiple barriers. Because she did it in a hurry, the ten layers of defensive barriers looked unstable.
Jovrick glanced at Hera for a moment before looking back to more than fifty meteors. He slammed his shield to the ground. A thin layer of black energy came out from the shield, forming a projection of Jovrick’s shield.
It was a thin layer of energy for a defensive barrier that made people doubt the shield-like barrier would withstand more than fifty meteors. However, there was nothing they could do but trust the barrier. Even if they tried to flee right now, the impact would still blast them, turning them vulnerable.
Even though Jovrick’s barrier was black, everyone could see through it. More than fifty meteors were approaching fast and hit the first barrier, Jovrick’s barrier. Five meteors hit the first barrier, and the shield-like barrier did not even shake by the impact.
Jovrick’s shield projection remained firm despite the massive explosion. It was then followed with more meteors, meteor after meteor but the shield projection withstood the impact and the explosion. They were covered in explosions, but none of it reached them.
Without them knowing, all of them were staring at the same spot, flabbergasted. They no longer felt the initial danger, just shocked that the meteors could not even crack the shield projection.
Meanwhile, Nikolas stepped forward, “Let me do something this time. Let me have a playtime, grand— Gianni.” He immediately changed the way he addressed his grandfather when he met Gianni’s sharp gaze.
“Let me show them some of the Lysvand Family’s power!”
The explosion subsided after the last meteor met with the sturdy barrier. It was revealed that the shield projection was intact, not even a crack, and so were Hera’s barriers.
Jovrick pulled his shield up and the shield projection disappeared. At the same time, Nikolas pulled his sword out as a lion roar resounded. People snapped out and looked toward the roar as a lion mirage appeared behind Nikolas.
Nikolas raised his sword up with his two hands. He swung his sword down, and at the same time, his figure blurred, moving forward to the wall.
Benedict’s people had set up a barrier to protect the city wall when they summoned more than fifty meteors to protect the city from the impact. Nikolas stood in front of the barrier and swung his sword down.
The moment the sword touched the barrier, the sword ripped the barrier apart. It was like cutting paper with an extremely sharp knife. The barrier was cut, and an invisible force also cut the barrier from above.
They all witnessed something invisible tearing the barrier apart from above, but they could not see what happened. It was similar when Nikolas cut through the barrier with his sword, but the scale was much bigger this time.
The invisible force cut through the barrier down to the city wall before it went with a boom. Not just the barrier, but the invisible force cut through the city wall as well.
Nikolas turned around and waved his hand, “I have made a path for us to breach the city!”
The dust cleared up and showed a wall breaking apart as the barrier dispersed. He destroyed the city’s defense in a single strike.
But the battle just started, five people jumped at Nikolas from above. Guild Master Alves and the others cried in panic, telling Nikolas there were people above him. But then they saw something scarier than what they had just witnessed, as Nikolas broke the defense apart. This соpy соmеs frоm соntеnt оn М|V|L0ЕМРYR.
The space around Nikolas and the five people cracked, and twisted, and it became blurred. It was hard to see what happened around there, and it wasn’t very clear. Not long after, everything returned to normal, but the five God Ranks who tried to attack Nikolas from behind lost their heads.
Their heads were missing and blood spurted out from their necks as their bodies were falling. Nikolas was still waving his hand toward Tang Shaoyang.
Tang Shaoyang was genuinely surprised. He had fought Thomas Lysvand, not a hard fight, not as hard as people said. He had seen Gianni fight three times, unique, but not as impressed as Nikolas. Nikolas appeared to be playful all the time, but he did not expect the man to master Space Elemental Power.
He was tempted to use Spirit Integration with Nikolas to acquire that Space Elemental Power. He could manipulate space to a certain extent with Void Elemental Power, but it would not be as precise as someone who had Space Elemental Power.
Nikolas then swung his sword as he turned around toward the city once more. He saw the space was cut, cutting the city wall in half. The upper part of the city wall slowly slid down and fell. The people on top of the wall tried to save themselves as the upper part of the city wall slid down.
Boom!
Nikolas did not stop there as the space around him twisted again, and this time he disappeared as the twisted space returned to normal. All they could hear was screams and also Nikolas’ laughter.
He alone terrorized the entire defense. It went on for ten minutes, and no one helped Nikolas, and Benedict’s subordinates tried to fight back which only made Nikolas happier as his laughter became louder.
“I will accept surrender, and your lives will be spared! Throw your weapon away and on your knees if you surrender!” His voice echoed throughout the air.
The moment Nikolas announced it, all the soldiers and the sorcerers threw whatever in their hands to the ground and fell on their knees. Regardless of their rank, even the remaining God Ranks fell on their knees and put their hands behind their heads.
That was what happened, a single person, tearing apart a monarchy’s strongest defense. It would become an unbelievable story that no one believed, but many witnessed with their own eyes that in fact, this was a real thing.
Exactly in ten minutes, a knight destroyed the whole defense. Nikolas appeared in front of Tang Shaoyang with bodies. His black armor was covered in red blood, but that blood was certainly not his. He threw body after body to Tang Shaoyang, and the latter stored the bodies.
Tang Shaoyang looked at Benedict, and Benedict looked at him as well. The latter was beyond shocked, he froze with his eyes wide open and his mouth also gaped open. What a brilliant expression that quickly turned into despair as a realization quickly sunk into his mind.
Benedict realized that his brilliant plan to take the throne was destroyed by one mercenary team that his younger brother was involved in their succession battle. He let it happen because he wanted to ruin Albin’s relationship with the mercenary guild.
That small scheme backfired and ruined everything that he had prepared. He could no longer contain his emotion as he screamed in anger and also frustration. He was despised and ran forward, jumping off the city wall with his head first. After his plan failed and losing his biggest supporter because they were just annihilated by a single knight, he decided to suicide and ended everything.
However, before his head could reach the ground, someone grabbed his left foot. He was just half a meter away from hitting the ground, but someone saved him.
“You don’t get to die that easily, Young Lord Benedict.” Gianni caught Benedict’s foot and saved his life.
Tang Shaoyang tossed a healing potion toward Volans as well, “Save your brother, Hero!”
Volans scrambled to take the potion and fell to the ground, but he managed to catch the vial. He then got up and moved toward his elder brother, Albin. He mechanically moved like a robot that just received an order. He poured the potion into Albin who was in tears, but his eyes filled with resentment because he knew that he would not be able to win the succession battle as long as Tang Shaoyang and his team worked under Volans. His chance to win was zero.
What happened next was obvious, the Raven Monarchy Soldiers and the Chevalier Monarchy Soldiers poured out from the city. Under Marko and Senton’s instruction, they escorted Young Lord Volans into the city and paraded Volans as the Hero who defeated the Dominion Army.
Blaise Osmond was quick with his mind and told Volans to take over the authority. He announced how Benedict betrayed the monarchy after failing to look for the bigger picture. Albin got off better than Benedict because Volans told the people that he managed to defeat the Dominion Army because of Albin’s help. Albin was labeled as a hero as well, but Albin lost his supporters because the nobles immediately switched up to Volans.
On the same day, Volans led the army to retake the occupied cities, and his name was remembered as the hero of the Sorcerer Monarchy.
