Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 827 - 471: Flooded Skyscraper

The medicinal wine for Evolvers is inherently a stronger version, extremely stimulating. Under the kneading of twelve robust men, the feeling is akin to being skinned alive. By the time it was over, Huayang was in a daze.

When he saw the conductor again, two streams of tears instantly flowed down, unstoppable.

"Tsk tsk, I heard you’ve been training hard lately?"

"Not hard, not hard at all..."

"Then it seems it’s not enough, I’ll reprimand him later." Su Huan teased He Jie, who was glaring fiercely at him, "But for now, you need to come with me."

Huayang took the windbreaker thrown by He Jie, and muddled out of the carriage.

"Whoosh——"

The hatch seemed pressurized, requiring as much force to push open as holding up a city gate.

The cold wind, mixed with ice particles like knives, whipped in. It struck with the force of an electric baton in He Jie’s hand. Huayang jumped around, overloading the windbreaker on, and followed the conductor out to the deck.

The massive temperature difference stimulated every inch of his skin, and even breathing came with a kind of bone-deep pain.

Watching the conductor ahead wearing only a single layer, Huayang silently raised the collar of his windbreaker, squinting at the imposing pass ahead.

"It’s time to pass through."

Su Huan said softly.

The hovering train let out a long whistle, vibrating the entire area, then plunged headlong into the snowstorm.

For a moment, Su Huan felt as if he had returned to the Storm Zone, except now the sand had transformed into sharper ice sand, accelerated by the wind to more than 100 meters per second. The ice particles turned into bullets, grinders, madly grinding them, the intruders.

Su Huan let the ice and snow lash his body, feeling the slight sting on his skin and the all-pervasive cold. Like stepping out of a hot spring, the cold air jolted him awake.

Three hearts beat in succession, dense energy circulating through his body, heavy blood rushing through veins. As his chest heaved, the cold current surged into his nostrils, and every piece of skin, every muscle tingled with vitality in this frigid air.

Like a dragon entering the sea, like a tiger returning to the mountains!

The lethargy, the foggy haze, were all ruthlessly torn away by the snowstorm.

The train, having undergone four renovations, boasted extreme defense capability. Not just ice particles, even machine-gun fire would merely clear dust from it.

Even though the temperature had dropped to nearly minus one hundred degrees, inside the train it remained as warm as spring.

However, for He Jie and Huayang, who followed Su Huan out, it was different. Although both were Evolvers, in such terrifying cold, they became hesitant and sluggish. Their breath turned instantly into large ice crystals, scattered by the wind. They had to squint to prevent their tears’ membrane on the surface of their eyes from freezing.

If not for the windbreakers crafted with extensive investment, incorporating multiple iterations of high-end materials, the two would have succumbed to hypothermia.

Yet heat continued to escape from their extremities. Each breath consumed tremendous energy to warm the air, preventing the freezing of respiratory mucosa and alveoli.

Even with excellent gear, a Tier One Evolver couldn’t last more than an hour in such conditions.

Minus one hundred and minus eighty degrees aren’t just a "bit colder." At this temperature, some fundamental physical parameters begin to approach their limits.

Almost all conventional man-made materials will fail, hydraulic oil and fuel solidify completely, most electronic components crack and desolder due to material shrinkage rates, steel becomes as brittle as glass, shattering on impact.

If an ordinary person stood here, they might not even feel "deep hypothermia" before dying from acute organ damage.

The time left for self-rescue would be less than thirty seconds.

This is the Celestial Disaster Zone, no additional prefix needed; just the cold is enough to scare away most life forms.

But this certainly doesn’t include the Rule wielders; every Tier Four Evolver is a disaster in itself.

For Su Huan, if he wanted, he could lower the temperature even further, approaching absolute zero, or instantly turn the sub-zero Wind Snow Zone into a thousands-of-degrees-hot "Fire Area."

This is the power of the Rules.

Watching the increasingly vibrant Su Huan, Huayang couldn’t help it, chattering teeth, "Con- conductor, conduc..."

"Okay, okay... forgot about you guys."

Su Huan slightly expanded his Domain, raising the energy in the area a bit, providing the two considerable relief.

"Where are they located?"

Without the crisis brought on by the cold, Huayang finally had the mind to look down, but all he could see was a blanket of white. Facing Su Huan’s inquiry, Huayang was a bit bewildered.

"No idea?"

Su Huan noticed his slight expression change, his demeanor turning somewhat unfriendly.

"No, no, it’s just that this angle... I’ve never seen it either."

Huayang helplessly pointed below.

At this moment, the train hovered thirty meters in the air, below was snow piled up at least three meters thick. Coupled with the current wind, heaven and earth blurred together; even recognizing their own position was impossible, let alone direction.

He Jie flicked the back of his head, scolding, "Stop blabbering, just tell us how you usually get in."

Huayang realized, pointing directly below, "Before the apocalypse, Lion Pass was a scenic spot, with a modern city beside it. We used to go underground; it’s much warmer below than above."

Su Huan was surprised; he hadn’t thought they could travel underground.

Huayang continued, "But the train can’t tunnel below, though we can head directly north. About three kilometers away is a flooded building, a landmark, with a small camp around it. Doesn’t the train have search methods? Find it, and I’ll know the location."
