Armed Train in the Apocalypse
Chapter 825 - 470: Lion Pass
Ruble’s artificially angry expression returned to calm after Cheng Zhan left.
The price paid this time was quite high, even offending the two major forces of the Business Alliance and Changbai Pharmaceutical at once.
But Cheng Zhan has advanced to Tier Three, and with the help of the train conductor, everything is negotiable.
Just wait to collect the money.
Thinking about the piles of cash pouring into his pocket in the future, Ruble’s eyes turned red with excitement.
Just as Mayor Lu was indulging in his fantasies, a trusted guard rushed in, saying urgently, "They’ve left, they’ve left!"
Ruble was taken aback, "Who left?"
"The Armed Train!"
Ruble hurried to the bedside, pushed open the window, and looked outside.
But outside was only pitch black.
Feeling the cool breeze on his face, Ruble murmured, "They really left..."
After pondering for a moment, Mayor Lu returned to counting money, as long as they were out of Dragon Gate it had nothing to do with him. It’s their Business Alliance who should be anxious.
...
The train soared through the sky, and the gray land below seemed even darker.
The Rust Area was desolate, and the train almost needed no evasive maneuvers around any tall buildings, making the journey more stable.
Cold air was purified through layers, the oxygen proportion adjusted, and heated by the temperature control system before being delivered into Carriage No. 1. After circulating within the carriage, it drove out the stagnant air and the concentrated energy from the other side.
The energy was then extracted by a device and fed into the Energy Storage Core.
The whole process was silent and unobtrusive.
A huge calico cat plush sat crouched at the bedside, its round black pupils reflecting the figure on the bed. Black hair spread across the bed like it was trying to take over the entire thing, with the soft quilt compressed beneath, a hand resting at the bedside, eyelids half open like they could wake up at any moment.
Su Huan was dreaming again.
In the dream, the north wind howled, heavy snow fell in a haze on the ground.
No buildings, no people, not even emotions, just a dark expanse of white.
The world was utterly silent.
Su Huan awoke to a slender finger stopping half a foot from his brow, exuding a faint chill.
Watching Yu Jing straddle him, Su Huan turned his head aside to avoid the fingertips, "What are you doing?"
"Who are you?"
Yu Jing’s eyes were mysterious, with a peculiar expression.
"Who am I?" Su Huan suddenly raised his eyebrows, with a mischievous vibe, gripping the woman’s neck and flipping her beneath him.
He said coldly, "Remember now?"
Yu Jing said nothing, seemingly observing him, and since that’s the case, Su Huan wouldn’t stop.
No matter how he handled her, the woman remained silent.
For over an hour.
Realizing he was getting frustrated, Su Huan’s narrow eyes flashed with anger, and he bit down on her smooth shoulder; the tactile sensation and symmetry of the bones conveyed to his brain, calculating the bounciness of the muscle without even realizing.
This damned sensitivity.
Su Huan moved to another spot, this one with 70% fat and 30% glands, no hard tissue, the texture would be much less intense...
Ultimately, he lifted his head, "What are you doing up so late at night?"
"Is your home in Wind Snow Zone?"
Yu Jing asked.
Su Huan paused at the question, calmly replying, "Yes, not deep within, next to Lianzhu Mountain in Changbai Province."
"Northern Camp?"
He wasn’t surprised that Yu Jing knew the location accurately; it’s detailed on his ID card. After all, he’s only attending university down south, and his household registration wasn’t transferred.
"Want to go back for a look?"
"...Why are you asking this?"
Su Huan suspected.
"Just want to see what kind of place could give birth to someone like you." Yu Jing sat up, the blood on her shoulder crossing her collarbone, with a poignantly beautiful feel.
The sky was just about to break, the darkest moment before dawn. But for the two of them, the faint light emitted from their pupils was enough to see each other’s bodies clearly.
"That doesn’t sound like a compliment."
Su Huan sneered and pulled off the clothes the woman had just put on.
"Do you still remember their faces?"
"Who?"
"Your parents."
Su Huan reminisced slightly, "It’s become a bit blurry."
If it wasn’t for working to earn some tuition during his junior year, instead returning home for New Year, maybe he would’ve seen them more.
One year of college, four years of apocalypse, plus two years of this life, it’s been seven years.
Su Huan was a little surprised, not realizing so much time had passed.
"Did you forget your homeland, or did your homeland abandon you?"
Yu Jing asked quietly.
Su Huan squinted slightly; he felt there was more to the woman’s words, and he disliked the feeling of someone knowing something and hiding it from him.
He clamped down on that slender neck, like locking a pure white swan, with his lips curling cruelly upward, "I suggest you be forthright."
"I always felt like I’ve seen you before, but I couldn’t find evidence."
Yu Jing’s eyes showed some confusion, seemingly not faking it.
Su Huan furrowed his brow; he occasionally felt the same, but it’s because he’d lived two lives and couldn’t be sure where he’d seen whom.
But Yu Jing’s situation seemed a bit odd.
Could it be possible that others retained memories of his rebirth?
But he could transform from a normal person into an Evolver who could move mountains and fill seas, carrying fragments of information within Pan Energy wasn’t unthinkable.
"Next time, don’t act so mystical."
Su Huan grumbled, releasing the woman.
"I want some funding."
"That time won’t be enough."
Yu Jing’s gaze returned to clarity, "I’ll exchange it for results."
"Results?"
Talking about business, Su Huan became a bit interested, "Is it a new exoskeleton? Or is that set of [Thunder] successful?"
The woman shook her head, "Technologically, we’re far behind, big breakthrough on exoskeletons and power armor is hard, every output takes years. I’m talking about a kind of Genetic Potion."
