Armed Train in the Apocalypse
Chapter 818 - 467: Willpower, the Mark of the Strong
Upon seeing Cheng Zhan walk out, the chubby man hiding behind the crowd couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.
Being able to watch so many elite warriors fight and hold back until now was him exerting all his self-control.
So when Liang Kuan took the stage, Cheng Zhan came out.
His entrance didn’t carry the suspense of a fierce beast; he simply walked up holding a bundle of weapons, like someone cleaning up the venue, yet every move he made captured Liang Kuan’s attention.
Every step and action of the man was the most relaxed posture; in other words, in this state, he could initiate an attack or dodge at any time.
Cheng Zhan stood firm at a distance of about ten meters, the distance measured precisely as if using a ruler.
Looking up at the silhouette with black hair dancing without wind in the sky, his eyes burning, "I’m getting a bit impatient, can I cut in line?"
Su Huan looked down at the man with short hair and a flat top, raised an eyebrow, and asked, "Dragon Gate?"
The man replied with a grin showing white teeth, "Cheng Zhan!"
Su Huan didn’t respond immediately but rather turned to Ruble, "What do you think?"
At first, Ruble had a look of surprise, but upon realizing Su Huan was steadily smiling at him, his expression finally calmed down, solemnly saying, "He’s my closest friend."
Su Huan clicked his tongue gently, "Do I seem petty?"
With a hooked finger, two potions shot through the air like bullets, hovering next to the train conductor.
Su Huan glanced at them, and the potions fell into Hua Junyan’s hands.
"The Frenzy Potion is harmful to the body; this Recovery Potion is my gift to him, and additionally..." Su Huan thought for a moment, then retrieved two more sets of potions, suspending them in mid-air in the gladiatorial arena, saying calmly, "These comprise a Tier One ’Energy Storage Core’ and subsequently a Tier Two ’Circulating Vortex’ full set, whoever wins gets them."
The audience in the gladiatorial arena didn’t know what an ’Energy Storage Core’ was, but they understood Tier One and Tier Two.
Keep in mind, the top reward in the arena was merely a set of Tier One potions, and for a while, Cheng Zhan had dominated it, which was equivalent to being a compensation by various factions towards Dragon Gate.
And this battle awarded an entire set of Tier Two potions—this wasn’t a simple doubling; it was an exponential increase!
The mine owners and others exchanged glances; ever since the Zhijin auction, the profession of the train conductor was no longer a secret.
Even Deep Blue Data said this profession’s set was fundamentally impossible for humans to succeed with.
But the potions were already here; who wouldn’t want to give it a shot?
Who wouldn’t want to become legendary?!
Meanwhile, Hua Junyan looked at the two potions in his hand, yearning to pull out the fierce beasts underground and kill them.
What’s the use of winning this match?
The two potions are worth a million times less than having the train conductor lend a hand just once!
If they suppress production just a bit, top forces could squeeze out tens of thousands of potions, but no suppression could kill a Tier Three Lord that could fly in the Rust Area!
And then there’s the upcoming duel.
Although Liang Kuan’s combat prowess was somewhat surprising, he didn’t believe his opponent could defeat the battle-hardened Cheng Zhan.
In the first few months of the arena’s establishment, Cheng Zhan fought at least three battles a day, for several months, stubbornly establishing the current six-way dominion around Dragon Gate!
Certainly, there were factors of mutual checks and balances between the Business Alliance and Changbai Pharmaceutical, but Cheng Zhan stood here not because they were kind-hearted.
The truth is, they couldn’t beat him; the company brought in all Tier Two fighters for a turn, yet no one could take him down.
That’s why they reluctantly accepted him.
Otherwise, a medium-sized force would have been kicked out long ago.
How could it have been his turn to sit in the city hall?
If Liang Kuan loses again, that would shame the train conductor three times in a row...
And as for Su Huan saying he isn’t petty, one should just listen and forget; if he were truly generous, would the Steel Council guard the Acid Rain Zone?
Would the Black Kite split?
Would Deep Blue Data hide its headquarters?
As for the Four Nations, do you think they enjoy being relics?
Upon getting permission, Cheng Zhan inserted the weapons in his hand one by one into the ground; long blades, bone awls, shields, short spears... More than a dozen weapons turning the gladiatorial arena into a graveyard of weapons.
With each insertion, the man’s momentum surged a bit higher, like flames poured with gasoline, soaring upward.
Liang Kuan picked up the "shield," lifted the fierce beast off the ground, and threw it out.
When the final weapon was inserted into the ground, the man’s aura reached its peak, looking up at the mountain-like Liang Kuan, exhaling forcefully, "Cheng Zhan."
The audience, initially awed by Su Huan’s set of Tier Two potions, suddenly erupted into tumultuous cheers.
"Leap Dragon Gate!"
"Leap Dragon Gate!"
"..."
This cheer wasn’t implying anyone could defeat Cheng Zhan; rather, it was the highest praise for Cheng Zhan, the pinnacle of the gladiatorial arena.
Amidst the wave-like shouts, the two simultaneously made their move.
Cheng Zhan held a short spear, his body taut like a drawn bow, the spear shaft extending strenuously to the back before suddenly launching forward.
The sound of friction between bones was like a rolling boulder.
The short spear flew silently, yet the air along its path distorted at that moment, madly collapsing inward.
Liang Kuan’s wrist flipped, swinging the door-like shield forward.
"Boom!"
The wooden shield emitted a metal clang, and the bone spear trembled as it flew out.
Then the trailing echoes of breaking through the air came rumbling along.
Along with them came Cheng Zhan, wielding dual blades, eyes blazing like the sun, fierce like a raging bull, swooping in to slash at the shield in Liang Kuan’s hand.
This seize of opportunity struck precisely at the moment before Liang Kuan’s new force could manifest.
The blade light exploded into a dazzling array like a waterfall cascading into water, scattering fierce winds.
Yet even as the follow-up forced Liang Kuan into a disadvantageous position, he remained unwavering, his steps not retreating, his body not swaying.
From the edge of the gladiatorial arena, the madman had just dragged the fierce beast back; though he didn’t particularly fancy this show-off, he was still a colleague from the same company, and he couldn’t let him just die.
