Chapter 250 -162: A False Thousand Years

Xuan Huai Master was several hundred years older than even Li Dashu, a true veteran of the Qingcao Sword Sect. He was the only one with the seniority to argue with Li Dashu about the Sword Burial Tomb.

After all, no matter how generous the Qingcao Sword Sect was, it made no sense to open the Sword Burial Tomb that held a century’s worth of heritage. To give such a treasure away to others seemed utterly prodigal.

After arguing for over a month, they ultimately had to listen to their prodigal Sect Leader.

And now, unexpectedly, it was being put to use.

‘To think the Sect Leader was so sagacious. He foresaw this all along. Why didn’t he just say so earlier? If he had, we could have avoided all this trouble, and I wouldn’t have spent all this time worrying about the Sect’s foundation at my age.’

Xuan Huai Master couldn’t help but feel his faith in Li Dashu deepen.

The Sword Burial Tomb was the resting place for the personal swords of deceased Qingcao Sword Sect cultivators from every generation. Now that the swords were drawn, the intent of Concentrating Spirit imbued in each blade could protect the minds of Low Realm Cultivators for a short period.

For a short time, they were no longer at risk of Possession.

But this was only temporary. The eight True Masters had to kill the Ape Demon and break the Grand Array as quickly as possible, before the Wood Sword Qi from the Sword Burial Tomb was depleted. Otherwise, the Dream Demon’s Grand Array would continuously erode the minds of the cultivators who had not yet awoken.

“Once this is over, my Daoist Sect will personally pay the Demon Race a visit.”

The voice of the Daoist Sect’s True Master was faint, yet it carried a truly terrifying emotion.

“Why waste words! Let’s kill them! I, for one, would like a taste of a Sixth Realm ape’s brain today!”

Xuan Huai Master’s sharp shout cut through all thoughts.

A sword light suddenly flared. The azure light surged, transforming into thousands of gossamer strands of Sword Qi. The Sword Qi was like the sprouting grass of early spring—seemingly soft and weak, yet containing immense power.

~~~~~~~~~~~
BOOM!
Amidst the curtain of rain, a bright yellow crescent moon suddenly rose.
The Moonlight Method of Miao Yu Palace.
In the Cultivation Realm, there was a common understanding about the Moonlight Method: if a cultivator from Miao Yu Palace unleashed the Moonlight, you must never get caught in her subsequent Sword Moves. Otherwise, you would surely be run through by an unending barrage of Moon-like Swords.
The air shimmered with ripples, as if a boat were drifting across water.
Moon on a Rocking Boat!
With a single sword strike, Qiu Yuehan beheaded the cultivator before her, who had been possessed ahead of schedule by a Dream Demon. The entity within was actually a Fifth Realm Dream Demon.
The Fairy had pursued Shen San all the way here, killing quite a few Dream Demons along the way.
Strange.
Qiu Yuehan’s cold brows furrowed slightly.
‘A cultivator at the Fifth Realm Jade Balance is considered part of a Sect’s foundation, yet this Dream Demon Race certainly has a lot of them. Is it because of that Array? Never mind.’
Holding her sword, Qiu Yuehan suddenly stopped in her tracks, then naturally twisted to the side and delivered a sharp roundhouse kick.
“Huh?”
A thick-skinned, tough-looking creature emerged from the darkness. It was an Ape Demon at the Fifth Realm, bordering on the Sixth Realm.
Unlike most of the Demon Race, who choose to undergo Transformation after reaching the Fifth Realm, this Ape Demon had retained its original ape-like form. Its skin was dark, its frame tall and large, and it had sharp fangs in its mouth.
The Ape Demon’s hide was thick and tough; the Moon Fairy’s roundhouse kick didn’t seem to have caused it much damage.
“An ape? The Demon Race is getting involved too?”
No one answered Qiu Yuehan’s question. A phantom-like shadow slowly rose from the body of the possessed cultivator.
With its possessed body destroyed, the Dream Demon was heavily injured.
“Hm?”
Qiu Yuehan froze for a moment, for she saw the Dream Demon merge with the Ape Demon. In an instant, the Ape Demon, now wielding a great axe, leaped into the air and brought it down with immense force.
The Black Skirt Fairy met the attack head-on. Her sword was extremely light, its blade thin. When the massive axe clashed with the sword, the resulting sparks made it seem as if the blade would snap. But not only did the sword not break, its light instead flared under the heavy pressure, like a lotus suddenly blooming in the rain.
With a light twist of her wrist, the Black Skirt Fairy sent her blade skimming up along the axe’s edge. It was an exquisitely nimble movement, yet the resulting sword strike was utterly vicious.
It was an unorthodox move, one that seemed to risk everything, but because the Fairy’s power was so immense, it instead became a death-dealing blow.
The Ape Demon roared in anger as the light sword forced it back several steps. Its massive body crashed with a violent tremor, knocking down a wall of the Qingcao Sword Sect.
An Ape Demon at the Peak of the Fifth Realm combined with a Fifth Realm Dream Demon was indeed quite formidable. Qiu Yuehan realized she could no longer kill it with a single strike.
The Black Skirt Fairy’s gaze hardened. ‘If one sword strike isn’t enough, then a few more will have to do.’
This was a principle Lu Changyuan had taught her, and she felt it suited her quite well.
Her sword moved with her body.
Vermilion!
The edge of her sword erupted in a blinding crimson radiance, like a setting sun, striking straight for the Ape Demon’s throat. Horrified, the Ape Demon raised its axe to block again.
Xuan Ying had already arrived.
The sword’s momentum suddenly dropped, scraping upward against the axe’s edge. It grazed the Ape Demon’s thick forearm, tearing away bloody flesh. The Ape Demon roared in pain, its axe swings growing wild, but Qiu Yuehan’s figure had already drifted to its side like a wisp of smoke.
The Summer Sword and the Winter Sword had been used; it was only natural that the third sword, a fusion of summer and winter, would follow.
Supreme Yin!
This sword strike was silent and without a trace, yet it pierced through a blind spot under the Ape Demon’s ribs. Nether Qi coiled around the sword’s tip, forcefully knocking the heavy axe face aside just enough. In that sliver of an opening, the longsword had already plunged into the Ape Demon’s waist.
With a dull thud, a bloody hole blossomed open. The Ape Demon howled madly and staggered backward, a look of utter terror in its eyes. It turned, intending to flee.
Qiu Yuehan said softly, “Trying to run?”
With a sudden flick of her wrist, the blood-stained longsword shot from her grasp.
The ninth sword of Miao Yu’s Thirteen Swords.
Wind Rises Beyond the Clouds.
The sword left her hand, its path as graceful as a gentle breeze lifting a cloud. It was so elegant that it carried not a hint of killing intent, yet so fast that it tore through the wind and rain.
The Ape Demon lunged forward in a desperate gamble, but the sword’s light followed it like a shadow, as if it had calculated the demon’s escape trajectory all along.
The next moment, the sword’s tip had already sunk into the Ape Demon’s back, piercing through its chest. Its body went rigid. It looked down at the blood-stained blade protruding from its torso, let out a few strange gurgles from its throat, and then collapsed with a crash.
