Are There Only Demonesses Left in the Cultivation Realm?
Chapter 182 - 134: You Haven’t Taken the Initiative to Kiss Me Yet
Chapter 182: Chapter 134: You Haven’t Taken the Initiative to Kiss Me Yet
"What are you doing?" Lu Changyuan opened his eyes.
"My junior sister told me that back when you were a mortal, you told her a story about how a kiss could awaken someone from a cursed sleep."
’What was that about?’
Lu Changyuan wondered if he had really told Xia Yutang a story like that just to humor her. ’Besides, the Little Fairy in a White Skirt never woke people up by kissing them on the lips. It was always somewhere else.’
’Just what story did she hear?’
Qiu Yuehan still hadn’t let go of Lu Changyuan. She looked down at him, her expression cold, but her body was burning hot. Her voice seemed to have a hook in it.
"Want a kiss?"
"No," Lu Changyuan said.
"You’ve never kissed me first." The Moon Fairy’s features were as lovely as a painting, her expression as placid as winter frost, but that chilly air was hard to maintain while she was sprawled on top of him.
"Definitely next time."
Qiu Yuehan sighed softly, then took the black Dragon Bone from within her robes.
Lu Changyuan took the chance to sit up, breathing a sigh of relief. "What is it?"
"It’s heating up."
Qiu Yuehan was certain there was nothing left inside this piece of Dragon Bone. No blood, no lingering Thought—it was, for all intents and purposes, just a hard rock.
But now, the rock was heating up.
The Moon Fairy suddenly turned to look at Lu Changyuan. "You seem... to be heating up, too."
Lu Changyuan’s cheeks were flushed; he was indeed running hot. He just grunted in affirmation and forcibly suppressed his Heart Method, finally quelling the agitating sensation.
"It’s nothing. I just consumed too many things earlier. I’m about to have a breakthrough."
"Enlightenment?"
"Mm."
Qiu Yuehan frowned slightly. "Should I stand guard?"
"No need. It’s not happening right now, but it’s very close."
Lu Changyuan narrowed his eyes. "I just have a feeling... the moment is almost here."
Few Cultivators experience this sensation before Breaking Dao. It’s a vague, indistinct feeling.
"Regardless, this Dragon Bone seems to have quite the history... Let’s go. We need to get to the Inner Island."
When they opened the door, they found a young woman in black robes squatting with her back to them.
Mei Zhaozhao had been hesitating, wondering if she should go in and wake them.
She squatted there, staring at an uncanny Blood Demon Flower before her, its petals tinged with white. It was a specialty of Blood Demon Island. Chewing on it left a metallic, bloody taste, and its bewitchingly beautiful blossoms could cause hallucinations.
"MEOW."
An elegant black cat padded lightly to her side, and Mei Zhaozhao’s attention was immediately drawn to it.
She watched the black cat.
The black cat watched her back.
The air fell silent for a moment.
After a long moment, Mei Zhaozhao, hidden within her black robes, said, "What?"
The black cat extended a pink-padded paw to scratch behind its ear, seemingly baffled by the fool in front of it who was talking to a cat.
"Miss Mei, what are you doing?"
The cat leaped away.
Mei Zhaozhao spun around. "Whose fault do you think it is? Look at the time! And since when do Cultivators sleep? It’s so weird!"
Qiu Yuehan said coolly, "None of your business. If you’re not happy about it, suck it up."
"You!"
’Mei Zhaozhao felt like she had met her match. This top disciple of Miao Yu Palace seemed to know exactly how to shut her down, leaving her speechless.’
"Sister Mei, Brother Langzhong!" Bai Wei called out as she emerged from her room, supporting Xue Yanluo.
Xue Yanluo was still pale; his injuries hadn’t healed yet.
"If the three of you are ready, we should prepare to depart."
Mei Zhaozhao nodded excitedly. She figured she would be free after this, and the little bit of unpleasantness from her run-in with Qiu Yuehan quickly vanished.
"I’ll be counting on you to protect me, Young Master Lu."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sky above Blood Demon Island had completely transformed.
The already gloomy sky instantly cracked open to reveal a dark red eye, and as the surrounding river water churned, the stench of blood began to rise.
Xue Nichang stared at the eye in the sky. With a flick of the whip in her hand, the boat she was on accelerated. "The Dragon Transformation Bone has begun."
She had only brought three people with her: two Elders and Zi Hua Master.
One of the two Elders, Town Elder, felt a strange sense of unease. He suppressed the feeling and asked, "What is that eye?"
"It’s likely the cosmic anomaly caused by the Demon Lord releasing the sealed Dragon Bone," Xue Nichang replied calmly. "No need to panic."
Town Elder couldn’t help but ask, "The real Dragon Bone?"
Xue Nichang’s generation of disciples had seen the Dragon Bone before. The massive skull was terrifying enough to make one’s blood run cold, as if it contained the primordial power of the universe. They couldn’t even imagine what the creature looked like when it was still alive.
Seeing that no one answered, Town Elder disappointedly rubbed his nose with his iron fingers. "Won’t this attract the attention of the Daoist Sect? I heard the Daoist Sect Master watches over the Mortal World day and night from Celestial Mountain."
"The Daoist Sect Master is not on Celestial Mountain."
The speaker was Zi Hua Master. A wicked smile touched his lips. "A few months ago, the Daoist Sect Master charged into Beyond the Heavens all by herself. Right now, no one knows where she is."
Town Elder breathed a sigh of relief. "That’s good. Without the Daoist Sect Master around, our Demon Dao can act with a little more impunity."
Zi Hua Master seemed to agree. "Precisely."
’If the Daoist Sect Master were still on Celestial Mountain, he wouldn’t have dared to come out.’
Town Elder glanced at Zi Hua Master. "Our Demon Dao is weak these days. Shifo Temple was completely destroyed, and we’ve suffered under the thumb of the Daoist Sect for far too long... The last time we besieged Miao Yu Palace, we were tricked by that black-hearted Han Ze. This so-called Righteous Dao! They’re more demonic than the Demon Dao itself!"
Zi Hua Master’s expression grew grim. "Shifo Temple will never be wiped out."
"And why do you say that?" Town Elder asked, his curiosity piqued.
The origins of Shifo Temple were no great secret in the Cultivation Realm.
Legend has it that five hundred years ago, shortly after the great turmoil began, the first monks of Shifo Temple found the corpse of a Buddha Immortal. Those monks then carved up and devoured the body, and from that act, Shifo Temple was born.
