Chapter 174: Chapter 131: Refusing to Die

Lu Changyuan had a strange feeling the moment he saw the coffin.

It was as if the treasure inside the coffin was a part of his own body.

And now, it seemed that was indeed the case. That bowl of scarlet blood had belonged to him, and it wasn’t dead blood, but living blood that could still be used.

Lu Changyuan knew exactly where this bowl of blood came from. He even knew where the bowl itself came from.

The bowl was his, too!

Back when he had just entered the Cultivation Realm, he had gone to the Netherworld to fight for treasures in pursuit of a breakthrough to the Fifth Realm. At that time, he had filled a bowl with his own essence blood and given it to a Spirit.

The Spirit had bowed to him and then left its house to him. That house became Lu Changyuan’s greatest asset, allowing him to survive in the Netherworld for over a hundred years without dying.

Others traded a bowl of blood for a single night; he had traded one for a hundred years.

Lu Changyuan looked at the Painting Demon, whose aura was growing more terrifying by the second, and said softly, "My luck has always been good."

This bowl of blood had been left behind when Lu Changyuan was still exploring the Killing Dao. It contained the intent of his Killing Dao, and after being nurtured by the Elder Physician for over a thousand years, it had forcibly retained its living properties.

In other words, this bowl of blood could now be considered one of the Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures.

’The old man was actually a Kai Yang Great Power.’

Only an old coot at the Kai Yang level could live for so long... Who would have thought that a Kai Yang expert would stay in a small village and work as a Physician?

Lu Changyuan gave a bitter smile as he recalled the Elder Physician’s many strange behaviors. All of them made sense now. ’I wonder if there’s more to the story of when the old man found me all those years ago.’

’Forget it.’

’This isn’t the time to be thinking about that.’

Qiu Yuehan sheathed her sword, her mind still on what Lu Changyuan had said about taking a wife.

’Was he talking about his junior sister?’

’His junior sister said she’d already gone through the wedding ceremony and had worn a red wedding dress... Would a black wedding dress look good? Could that clothing store make one... Is it expensive?’

Lu Changyuan had no idea what the Moon Fairy was thinking. He simply began to circulate the Five Desires and Six Dust Heart Transformation Technique.

The Painting Demon seemed to sense the danger. An inexplicable fear enveloped it, and it could no longer hold back. A torrent of inky aura transformed the sky into a sheet of saturated xuan paper, quickly blooming into ripples of pale green. From a single point at the center, an endless tide of ink radiated outward.

An ink orchid sprouted, its leaves like swords. As its petals unfurled and drooped, dark, bloody bones bloomed from within. In an instant, it tore itself from its roots and became a Flower Demon.

An Ink Bird flew over, an orchid leaf in its beak, and slashed through the air as if wielding a longsword.

The spreading ink then transformed into a river. At first, it was just a static painting, but soon, the water in the ink river began to flow. The foul-smelling water materialized, surging into a real river. Most terrifying of all, strange fish swam within it. Their mouths were full of sharp spines, and their lower bodies had no flesh, only grim white bones.

The flower, bird, and fish all pounced on Lu Changyuan and Qiu Yuehan at once.

"This Magic is actually quite beautiful. Why does it only paint such disgusting things?"

Qiu Yuehan stared at Lu Changyuan. "Enough with the wisecracks. Do you have a plan or not? You can use my sword."

The Painting Demon abruptly sprouted tentacles and stabbed them viciously into the ground. The pierced earth instantly lost all color, turning a foul, pitch-black. The blackness spread rapidly, and countless twisted, black ink lines shot out from it.

In a flash, the tentacles were right in front of them.

Lu Changyuan smiled. "Last time I borrowed your sword because I didn’t have one. Now, I have Broken Thought."

Despite his words, Lu Changyuan didn’t even assume a sword stance. Instead, he simply reached out his hand.

THUD.

Lu Changyuan easily caught the terrifying tentacle in his hand.

The Power of the Peak of the Sixth Realm disintegrated in his grasp, transforming into a dense Power that surged into Lu Changyuan’s body.

"You used my blood to return to the Sixth Realm, and now you want to fight me?"

Lu Changyuan found the situation ridiculous.

Logically, even if that bowl of blood was his, it should have been useless. After all, the Painting Demon had it, and it had already consumed the blood.

Too bad for it.

Lu Changyuan’s eyes suddenly turned scarlet, and he grinned. "I didn’t quite get my fill last time. I see you Painting Demons can also turn illusion into reality. Perhaps that will be beneficial for my own technique of creating something from Nonexistence."

BANG!

With a series of explosions, the Painting Demon’s formidable, massive body was torn to pieces. A red beam of light could be seen darting around inside it, causing it to flicker like a lit lantern.

That bowl of Lu Changyuan’s blood hadn’t been digested. Instead, it was wreaking havoc from within.

"If you hadn’t consumed it, this wouldn’t have been so easy."

The crimson light finally burst from the Painting Demon’s abdomen and leaped into Lu Changyuan’s hand, forming a Blood Sword. Under his control, it then coated Broken Thought in a layer of blood. He had once devoured half of the Blood Demon and learned some of its abilities. Considering this, it was truly unwise for the Painting Demon to have drunk Lu Changyuan’s blood.

Lu Changyuan slowly walked across the Painting Demon’s enormous body, effortlessly dismantling all its defenses. Its tentacles exploded before they could even reach him. The black-and-white main body, lying in the center of its own remains, seemed rather weak compared to the tentacles it had spawned.

He picked up the dying Painting Demon with his bare hand.

"Gaha!"

Qiu Yuehan walked to Lu Changyuan’s side and studied the last member of the Ink Race in this world. "It’s saying, ’You humans are all the same.’"

Lu Changyuan smiled. "The same in what way?"

"Gaha!"

Qiu Yuehan frowned and was about to translate for Lu Changyuan, but he shook his head. "Never mind."
