Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus
Chapter 1892: Armed Helicopter Squadron, Established!
Evening time.
South of Dayong Town in Central City.
The brushwood and forest are burning, fueled by the wind, the fire burns ever more fiercely.
The firelight reddens the two buildings where Li Yu and the others are located; intense solar radiation and surrounding flames, heat radiating everywhere.
Li Yu feels too hot on the top floor; he can’t stay for a few minutes without sweating heavily, so he goes downstairs and opens his mask for some air.
“Done!” Luo and the others dismantle the rotor on the top floor and install it on the helicopter inside the building.
Originally squatting on the ground, Li Yu quickly gets up and walks over.
“City Lord, the rotor has been installed, I’m going to test the helicopter’s operational status,” Luo says after stepping down from the makeshift scaffold.
Li Yu nods and says, “Okay, I’ll go with you to take a look.”
The two of them enter the helicopter; Luo sits at the heli-pilot’s position and presses the start button.
Vroom, vroom, vroom!
A few seconds later, lights on the dashboard immediately display.
Luo skillfully tests all the helicopter’s functions.
A few minutes later, Luo, looking excited, says, “All functions are intact; we can go out and test flight.”
Li Yu nods and says, “I’ll fly it.”
Luo hesitates for a moment and speaks, “City Lord, let me do it.”
Li Yu glances at Luo; he understands Luo is looking out for him.
Intending to test it himself, but now bearing significant responsibility, any mishap during testing would severely impact Big Camphor Tree Base.
Sighs softly in his heart.
Reaching a certain position, one becomes unavoidably restrained.
Li Yu does not speak, just pats Luo’s shoulder, then descends from the helicopter.
Luo breathes a sigh of relief as he sees Li Yu step down from the helicopter.
Earlier, when Third Uncle departed, he personally spoke to him about testing this helicopter.
Luo is naturally grateful to Li Yu, whether it’s help during the time at Luo Tianyan, or later when Luo led the group to seek refuge at the Big Camphor Tree Base.
Li Yu received them generously.
Moreover, he indeed wishes to personally test this helicopter which he repaired.
After Li Yu descends, Luo begins operating the helicopter.
The helicopter slowly moves, exits the building.
Luo fastens his mask; this helicopter’s exterior has not been coated with UV-protection material, plus the sunlight outside, for his safety, he must be cautious.
Once the helicopter exits the building, Luo controls the helicopter to lift off slowly.
Buzz, buzz, buzz——
The massive rotor’s rotating sound stirs up ash from the cement ground and dust from brushwood.
Gray-white ash and gray dust dance in the sky.
In this smoky sky, the helicopter rises into the air.
Luo controls the helicopter ascending increasingly until reaching about two hundred meters, deciding not to ascend further.
Only upon reaching this height does he realize the flames have already engulfed a surrounding area of two kilometers.
“The fire spreads really fast!” Luo muses.
After flying around for a few minutes, he immediately lands the helicopter.
The reason is simple, fuel tank warning, fuel is somewhat insufficient.
The amount of fuel brought over is limited, considering carrying people, repair equipment, and tools, the fuel capacity is even less.
If not for the base being only hundreds of kilometers away, on the return, Third Uncle’s two helicopters wouldn’t need much refueling either, otherwise, the fuel brought would only suffice for return to the base.
Luo controls the helicopter, gently landing it on the rooftop.
Thump!
After the helicopter stabilizes, Luo steps down from the helicopter.
He says to Li Yu on the rooftop, “Operationally stable, no issues found for now.”
Li Yu says, “That’s good, the parts downstairs have all been dismantled, take a good rest.”
Luo nods and says, “Alright.”
Then he walks down from the rooftop.
After descending inside, he takes a water bottle from his carried bag.
Unscrews the cap, removes the mask, and drinks a few large gulps.
“Ah….” Luo’s throat, almost smoking, feels much relieved.
He places the water bottle back in the bag.
….
Time passes second by second.
Big Camphor Tree Base.
Weng City.
Two helicopters descend from the sky.
On the way over, Third Uncle has already contacted the base by military radio.
So, as soon as the helicopters stabilize, Old Bi and the others start transporting prepared fuel barrels to the helicopters.
Third Uncle steps down from the helicopter; it’s already evening; returning will take at least two hours; night traveling is anticipated.
Now pressing time would still require night travel, so Third Uncle isn’t in a rush.
Walks independently into a small house in Weng City, takes out a pack of cigarettes, lights one, and smokes there.
Second Uncle comes in.
“Third Uncle, are all four helicopters confirmed okay?” Second Uncle, looking excited, wants to confirm the matter with Third Uncle.
Third Uncle sits on the long bench, nods and says, “Confirmed, I personally piloted; only one helicopter’s rotor is damaged, but it’s not a major issue, several rotors available for replacement were found over there. Luo and the others likely have replaced it by now, it’s not a big problem.”
