Chapter 905: Brats

Even if I try to buy supplies from these safe bases, they don’t have enough supplies themselves. They would never agree to sell those supplies; after all, they are depending on those supplies."

Only Bai Meiyue had excess resources, and because of this very reason, many of the ability users were eyeing her safe base. It could be said that the only reason Bai Meiyue was still safe was that everyone was aware of how strong she was, and there were also rumours about her partner as well. Some said that he was so powerful that he could kill someone with just a snap of his fingers.

These rumours, no matter whether they were true or false, were terrifying enough to make people hesitate before attacking Bai Meiyue’s safe base.

This was also the reason why Old Madam Bai was not making a move on Bai Meiyue. If not, she would have sent her second and third grandsons to rob that woman of her resources. Even if the two of them were unwilling!

Bai Yi clenched her fists when she heard her mother’s words.

She could not understand why her mother was adamant about trying to get close to Bai Meiyue and Yan Wanning. So what if they had resources? It was not like they were the only ones. If they worked hard, then they could easily look for some other safe base where they could buy more supplies. No matter how she looked at it, she was much closer to the Bai family than Yan Wanning.

"Mom, even if you want to buy resources from Bai Meiyue, I don’t think she will be willing to sell them to us. After all, we have never fully addressed the matter of her mother —I believe Bai Meiyue feels resentful toward us because of this matter." Bai Yi felt immensely annoyed in her heart, but she still spoke in a gentle voice. "Mom, if you continue to bow your head in front of Bai Meiyue, I don’t think she will feel sorry for you. If anything, she will only think that she can act calculating with you. Why don’t you go and meet with her? Tell her your reasons as to why you cannot accept her mother as your daughter. Maybe she will understand?"

"What is there to explain?" Old Madam Bai sneered coldly. She smacked her hand onto the armchair and stated in a cold voice, "Yan Wanning was not raised by our family. Who knows what kind of virtues she has learnt while she was growing up? So what if I don’t want to accept her? I am not asking that girl to send the supplies for free; I am giving her crystal nuclei."

Old Madam Bai did not think that she was doing anything wrong and felt that Bai Meiyue was being unreasonable.

"Grandma. Do you think that you can just buy the supplies by giving away money?" Just as Bai Yi was about to heave a sigh of relief, Second Young Master Bai walked in from outside; he had heard everything that happened just now. At first, he wanted to simply stay on one side and let his grandmother and aunt finish their discussion. But when he heard the good things that they were talking about, he could not help but interrupt.

Second Young Master Bai walked inside the mansion and swept a hand through his hair. "Grandmother, we are no longer living in the same world where you can just march out and buy whatever you want."

"I am her grandmother!"

"Have you done anything worth being called her grandmother?" Second Young Master Bai rolled his eyes and asked in an annoyed tone. "No, right? Then why are you hoping for her to take you into consideration?"

Old Madam Bai’s face turned red with anger when she heard her second grandson’s response. She wanted to say something more, but then the boy ran up the stairs of the mansion. She pursed her lips with an annoyed expression, but the man was already gone, and there was no point in muttering behind his back.

"These people! They have lost all respect for me just because they have awakened. If this were in the past, this brat would have never dared to say such a thing to me!"

She was furious, but what was she supposed to do now? After all, she was relying on these brats. With these brats awakened as ability users, she could no longer go against them. Even Bai Meiyue was getting on her nerves because she was awakened.
