Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person
Chapter 745: Sooner or Later He'll Be Sent Away
Chapter 745: Chapter 616: Sooner or Later He’ll Be Sent Away
“Damn it, just when things start to settle down, he stirs up trouble. Does he have rocks in his head?”
Zhang Su was frustrated. Men who can’t keep it in their pants during the apocalypse are the most useless!
Zhong Xiaoshan pursed her lips and said, “It’s normal for young guys to think about these things. Sigh, Brother Wang is such a hardworking person. How did his son turn out like this? I just can’t understand it.”
“What’s so hard to understand? Old Wang spoiled him, that’s how! He’s got a whole mess of problems because of it! No, this guy is a menace; we’ve got to find a way to send him off somewhere!”
Zhang Su stroked his chin, his expression turning cold and unfriendly.
“Sigh, the young guy really can’t see the bigger picture. With his uncle Wang’s connection, if he just works hard and avoids major accidents, he could have a decent life in the future. But he…forget it, let’s not talk about it.”
Zhong Xiaoshan shook her head. No other person in the whole camp was like him. Not Tan Huajun’s daughter, or Ding Yong Country’s nephew, let alone Pang Dakun, who wasn’t even eighteen yet and was more reliable than Wang Zhetao.
“Tch, if it weren’t for Old Wang and Old Tan, I would’ve thrown that guy in the village to shovel manure ages ago!”
Just thinking about it made Zhang Su angry.
“Damn…shit!”
“Huh?”
Zhang Su suddenly cursed, and both Zheng Xinyu and Zhong Xiaoshan were taken aback.
“Bozai is here!”
Zhang Su weakly pointed towards the kitchen, hoping no conflict would arise.
“Lanlan!”
Lu Yubo opened the kitchen door, and a wave of steamy hot air greeted him. But as soon as he saw that Pei Lan was also there, he froze in embarrassment.
“Xiaolu, there are two Lanlans here now. Who are you calling?”
Yi Xiaoling, who clearly enjoyed watching the drama unfold, playfully teased while keeping herself busy with her tasks.
Pei Lan pretended not to notice, burying herself in her work.
“Oh dear, why did you come to the kitchen… Ugh! You’re filthy, hurry, let’s go outside first!”
Mo Qianlan’s face turned red in an instant. She quickly ran to Lu Yubo, realizing he was covered in grime, feeling both anxious and inexplicably guilty, as she hurriedly tried to shoo him out of the kitchen.
Lu Yubo, grinning, backed out of the kitchen and pulled out a box from his backpack: “Lanlan, I found something good on this trip. Guess what this is!”
“Hmm? What is it?”
Mo Qianlan’s eyes lingered curiously on the brocade box.
“Ta-da!”
Lu Yubo opened the box with a mysterious smile, saying, “It’s like the cartoon doll you have hanging on your bag. Isn’t it nice?”
Inside the brocade box was a detailed and beautifully colored model of Nezuko Kamado, about the size of two fists, vivid and lifelike.
“Wow!”
Mo Qianlan’s eyes lit up at the sight of the Nezuko figure biting a green scroll. She beamed at Lu Yubo, opening her arms: “Hug me!”
The young couple embraced joyfully.
In the post-apocalyptic world, even though figures can’t be eaten or used as drinkable water, for enthusiasts who have their basic needs met, they offer significant emotional value.
“Did you find it on that train? Today’s mission was dangerous, wasn’t it? Yet you took the time to find this for me, truly amazing!”
After a brief embrace, Mo Qianlan wiped her hands on her apron, still feeling somewhat oily, reluctant to touch the pristine figure.
“Hehe, it was nothing, really, not dangerous at all!”
Lu Yubo, praised, grinned widely and handed the box to Mo Qianlan: “I found a Demon Slayer-themed suitcase in a pile of luggage and found it inside. But I didn’t take the suitcase; it was dirty.”
It was more than dirty; the suitcase had been dug out from a heap of frozen, rotten mess, and half of it was unusable.
“Excuse me, coming through, watch out for the hot stuff!”
As the kitchen door opened, Wang Zhetao emerged, carrying a large bucket of cooked rice.
Lu Yubo and Mo Qianlan quickly moved aside.
With a thunk, Wang Zhetao set the bucket down and, pausing, smiled at the couple: “Brother Bo, did you bring a gift back for Little Sister Xiaolan?”
“Uh…yeah.”
Lu Yubo, remembering how Wang Guangjun had put in a good word for him with Zhang Su, remained polite despite being aware of Wang Zhetao’s unappealing behavior, often engaging in brief chats whenever they met. But hearing him call her Little Sister Xiaolan left a sour taste.
Wang Zhetao noted Lu Yubo’s expression but pretended not to see it, praising the figure as he focused on it: “Finding such a delicate figure these days is impressive, Brother Bo, amazing. Well, I’ll get back to work, you two, haha.”
As he finished speaking, Wang Zhetao made a lewd expression that only men would understand, then picked up the bucket and headed for the dining room, whistling and seemingly in high spirits.
Lu Yubo watched Wang Zhetao enter the dining room, then grumbled, “Lanlan, why does he call you so affectionately…?”
Mo Qianlan sighed awkwardly, “I don’t like it much either, but he said…if his dad and my mom got together, he’d be my brother, so he called me that casually. Don’t be upset, okay?”
“I can’t believe it.”
Lu Yubo felt like he’d swallowed a fly in his frustration. Unfortunately, what Wang Zhetao said wasn’t wrong. About to ask more, he saw Zhang Su and others coming downstairs, surprisingly noticing Zheng Xinyu hobbling.
“Brother Su, what’s up with sister-in-law?”
“She twisted her ankle. Teacher Duan just came by to do some massage therapy on it. She’s a bit better now.”
Zhang Su explained, giving Lu Yubo a look before pointing towards the dining room to ask, “Lanlan, is lunch ready?”
“Yes, yes, it’s just about done. You guys can rest in the dining room first. It won’t be long.”
Mo Qianlan smiled brightly, putting the figure back into its box.
“Hey, lunch is ready!”
Zhang Su took out a walkie-talkie, notifying the Yama Corps members about the meal.
Next to him, Lu Yubo was confused. On the way back, Zheng Xinyu had been perfectly fine. He couldn’t understand Zhang Su’s glance or why he mentioned Duan Wu helping Zheng Xinyu treat her injury…
But Lu Yubo was good at one thing: quickly putting the matter to the back of his mind.
Lunch was slightly more sumptuous than usual, allowing the busy Yama Corps members to feast heartily, with canned food, meat, vegetables, and enough rice to ensure nutrients, taste, and energy needs were met.
“Xinyu, you should rest properly when you get back, and don’t go looking for more excitement this afternoon. Take a nap. Xiaoshan, help her.”
After lunch, Zhang Su instructed Zhong Xiaoshan to take Zheng Xinyu back to her room to rest.
Firstly, it was to let Fu Weijun, who sat eating in the corner, see; secondly, to watch over program number one at home. Even with precautions, keeping a Zombie head at home is somewhat unsettling, and he needed to go to Cui Leng Pavilion. Earlier during the meal, Xie Yanshan had mentioned something that needed reporting.
“Really twisted her ankle…”
Fu Weijun muttered to himself, watching Zhang Su and the others leave.
“I don’t know why you didn’t believe me. What else could be going on? You’re always so suspicious!”
Duan Wu, born without the knack for lying, spoke with a lack of confidence, hiding behind the act of digging into his meal…
Fu Weijun’s eyes twinkled with sincerity: “Brother Duan, I have a good bottle of medicine for bruises. Let’s bring it to sister-in-law later.”
“Cough, cough…” Duan Wu nearly choked upon hearing it, giving Fu Weijun a sideways glance: “Do you think you’re needed? With Nurse Zhong around, she can get any medicine. Just eat your food! Today’s dishes are bland, don’t you think?”
Having said that, Duan Wu got up and headed to the serving area.
