Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person
Chapter 654 - 542: The Majestic Relocation
The convoy set off, making a grand spectacle.
The distance from the military camp to Lego Mall was merely a few kilometers. Perhaps because the target was too large and the noise too loud, they encountered several zombie attacks along the way.
The first wave was only four ordinary zombies, rushing straight towards the loudest tank. It was a rather gallant scene, like an ant trying to shake a tree. Zhang Su personally jumped out of the tank and dealt with them swiftly.
The second wave was larger, with twelve zombies, still all ordinary ones. Their frantic sprint looked terrifying, but for those who had gradually gotten used to such intensity, it wasn’t frightening.
Except for the survivors from the military camp, this was their first direct encounter with the intensified zombies. Their movement and speed startled them, and they felt fortunate about their current situation.
Lu Yubo and Zhao Dezhu, riding side-car motorcycles, along with Liu Yao and Yang Xinqi, worked together to take down the twelve zombies. They even loaded the bodies onto a traveler’s car roof, securing them with ropes.
The third wave, which they were dealing with at the moment, also consisted of twelve, but trailing behind the mad dog-like ordinary zombies was a giant one!
Ordinary zombies weren’t worth special attention, but those who hadn’t seen a giant should learn about it. So, they specifically called out to Tan Huajun to not kill it immediately, letting Chen Hanzhou, who volunteered, expend some energy, luring the giant down the road valiantly, clearing a wide path...
The giant’s destructive power was vividly displayed, causing shivers among those from the military camp.
The ordinary zombies hopping and running fast was one thing, but what about this guy? Its astonishing destructive power was comparable to a bulldozer!
"Oh my, I’m afraid our military camp’s walls can’t hold this thing!"
Gangzi watched the tank-like giant with a constipated expression.
Dazhuang’s facial features seemed squeezed together. As the burliness in the camp, seeing the giant made him feel like a chick; hearing Gangzi’s words, he sighed, "Not just the walls, even bunkers would be torn down!"
Everyone nodded quietly, feeling Dazhuang was right, feeling at ease again about migrating from the camp, as it was indeed no longer suitable for survival there.
After toying with the giant for a while, Chen Hanzhou, taking great risks, weaving around close-up, using all his tricks, eventually had to borrow some strength, finally defeating the giant with his mechanical limbs, sweating profusely in the cold weather.
The moment the giant crashed to the ground, more than a hundred spectators couldn’t help but want to cheer, but they ultimately restrained their excitement, turning cheers into fist pumps.
Everyone thought it was long-term habit keeping them calm and quiet, but there was another reason unknown to them.
"He’s gotten a lot better lately, so annoying... wouldn’t take medicine yesterday, but still ended up taking it, hmph!"
Sitting in the side-car, Lu Yubo whispered to Zhao Dezhu standing next to him in the car bed, unaware that Chen Hanzhou indeed hadn’t taken the medicine, relying on his good physique. Overnight, his broken ribs healed, though not completely, causing vague pain during intense movement.
Zhao Dezhu knew the past dealings between Lu Yubo and Chen Hanzhou, where a gap was created between the two youngsters over a woman.
He showed a strange expression, quirking his mouth as he said softly, "Brother Lu, not to mention, Old Tan’s daughter isn’t less impressive than Pei Lan. You’ve already got the beauty, so shouldn’t bother anymore, right? Xiaochen being strong is good for us."
"Damn, Da Zhuzhi, you’ve changed, not even standing by me anymore. I’m holding a grudge, just see, I’ll train hard too, if I don’t surpass him in two months, I’ll eat..."
"Why stop? Eat what?" Zhao Dezhu teased with a face full of mockery.
"Eat steamed bun with soy sauce pickles!"
Lu Yubo laughed wryly, not wanting to make an empty promise.
After clearing the third wave of zombies, they encountered no further issues and successfully reunited on the main street in front of Lego Mall.
Over a hundred vehicles of various types, mostly family cars and SUVs, with some vans and box trucks, assembling impressively on the road. More than five hundred people stood on the street, each with an expression of nostalgia.
In the aftermath, they’d seen thousands, even tens of thousands of zombies roaming the streets and alleys. But it was the first time a few hundred people gathered in one place.
Some more emotional people, upon seeing the long-lost crowded scene, even shed tears of excitement, the gloom in their hearts dispersed by the people, as if seeing light in the future.
More coincidentally, some found familiar friends among the crowd. Previously scattered across different camps, unaware of each other, they were tearfully reunited!
A friendly glance between each other spoke more than a thousand words. At that moment, regardless of age, gender, background, or education, they all shared one common identity, post-apocalyptic survivors!
If they could add a prefix to the title of post-apocalyptic survivor, it would be survivors from Celestial Horse Island!
"Brother Su, the entire team is fully prepared, ready to depart at any time, please give your instructions!"
Zhang Xin puffed out his chest and ran to Zhang Su, giving a mismatched salute, reporting solemnly.
This was Fruit Man’s proudest moment in his life. From childhood to school days, he never had the chance to stand out in front of hundreds. Feeling the gazes around him, he was entirely carried away!
